The fact that a statue (A physical Item you can actually touch.) cost 200$ less then the Digital items speaks volumes to how absurd this price point is.
Yeah, maybe after a year of +20% ban rate... Brand still isn't nerfed even though he shreds tanks. Akali is still an annoying piece of shit to play against, with no nerfs in sight.
Was never the case with F2P games. F2P games reply on microtransactions to survive. Early 2000s Korean MMOs already have cash shop items that worth hundreds of USD.
And if it gave you stuff for all the other riot games then it would be ok. A special valorant weapon skin combo and banner and stuff, ahri skin for lor and bird and card back and icon and little legend, tft with a special bord and little legend, wild rift with the skin and icon and background. It would feel better as your buying it for all the games and not just one
They really didn't. The banrate didn't even go above 25% in a week and is now going down. As expected the "boycott" failed and all it did was being a minor nuisance at best.
fun fact, here in south america (specifically Las, not speaking for Brasil nor Lan) Ahri has a 21% ban rate, even though NO ONE WOULD ACTUALLY BUY A SKIN WITH THAT PRICE LMAO I'm from argentina, 500 usd is like half a year's salary to me
If you see an ahri on Your team, it is your responsibility to ban it. If you don't see an ahri on your team... it is also your responsibility to ban it
It's bc they have a weird culture where spending thousands on a game is actually proof of your hardcore dedication and how much you deserve rewards for putting in so much. Instead of what it is, a gambling addiction
They run on emotions over there. That's the reason idols are such a major thing there. It's why those idols have SO many problems with unrequited attachments from their fans. Fastest way to sabotage logical thinking (without drugs or booty) is to overload emotional responses.
@@mineralwater6736i bought Choo Choo Ornn because it was something I've wanted for years. I am supporting the game when they present something truly worth my dollar

From what sites are they buying it? The most expensive merch shipping I ever paid for, which was a box half as tall as me, was about 250 euro with taxes included. It honestly sounds like a scam if shipping is twice as much.
I wouldn't care one bit about the price of a cosmetic in a free-to-play game and, to be honest, I still pretty much don't since I can just choose to not buy it. It's just that it's so painfully obvious how little they care about actually honouring Faker and them milking him as nothing more than an advertisement opportunity which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I don't see what there is to be proud of, personally. It's just a 4fun, non-committal activity NA redditors can do and youtubers can farm. Everyone is too addicted to quit the game when Riot does things they seem to disagree with so badly. Which is the only thing that would produce real results. They'd rather playact and pat themselves on the back. This will stop in less than a month.
I would be proud if they stopped playing instead, that would be a big hit, losing like 25~35% of players depending ont he region until they actually changed something right now nothing changed and Riot doesnt care... Actualy they are probably promoting the person that suggested creating a 500 dollar skin since he was a genius instead
how is going from 11,5% banrate to 26,5%(soloque euwest all ranks) a sucess? Thats 15% banrate from the "boycott". Thats not much. Its also already declining. Meanwhile in korea it went from 7,5% to 9%^^
Here in Brazil, the minimum salary is around 1,400 bucks. Ahri's skin in total is... 1,200~1,500. Yep Edit: And two weeks later there is a lawsuit and riot is responding to it.
Imagine beeing in the team that design and created the skin and all behind it so your boss can simply put a 500 dollar pricetag on it. Everyone of the staff knew what woult happen but your boss wanted his 8. Porsche
They work there because it's prestigious to work in Riot's studios for your resume, they couldn't care less what they sell their creations for, they're being paid for their work. Even being college educated I wish I made as much as a concept artist at Riot for example, let alone having a job that would easily secure me another good position after I wanted to leave. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down. But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"
For an outside observer, what's outrageous about this skin and it's price is that behind all the talks about the "premium" and "not for average player" elithism marketing of this "limited" digital good (which is just a lie), the skin itself is not that special. I have no idea what a skin would need to be to justify that price, but it doesn't look significantly better than the highest tier Smite skins I saw back in the day. Or those Dota 2 sets that included arcanas that would be like 50-60 bucks, which still seems to much. And you CANNOT try to justify with "the amount of work that went into making it" Because even without all the "Faker marketing" stuff, the second bundle version of this skin, the one with actual animations and changes and such, is like 240 bucks. So in what universe does the amount of "work and effort" that went into that bundle is anywhere equal to a signle full price AAA game? Let alone 2 overpriced deluxe editions?
A sad thing I'm noticing in the gaming industry is that a solid 70% of consumers are fully willing to bow their head to whatever happens so long as they get to play, even if it involved say, giving up what little online security they still had.
"I swear man its not because she's a succubus with fox tails, the story goes way deeper". I just like Ahris kit, which got insanely more potent with her ult update.
Im not suprised the chromas turned out succesful. No matter how you look at it, a recolor for 200$... Even if they sell two of it. its already 200% value for them
ya know. at least u can get skins from capsules, actually 3 skins from 1 capsule, so if u buy lets say 30 of them you can get 90 skin shards + 200$ chroma. and from this shards u can make perma skins or merge them its kinda worth. but from this bundle with 60k price u get only ONE skin with useless stuff - this way its much worse
A quick note at the end, banrates are a good way of showing how much the community cared but Riot and Tencent aren't going to care unless if it hits then financially. Until we know the numbers for how much money the skin made and able to compare that to other major skin lines, it's really going to be hard to say how much the community actually cared.
It is very naive (to say the least) to believe that the money from this extortion is being used to build things for the community, Riot always had the budget and competent professionals to do it long before, but they chose to fire them and use the money in that stupid streaming project. I used to be a collector of Ahri and other characters too, purely motivated by the lore. that was the only thing that kept me in the game after the SoL event and even after the constant neglect of the lore in and out of the game. If I had known that things would go this way, I would never have invested my money in this and especially dedication to the story and the characters.
Just out of curiosity. How many years have you played the game for free? And how much did you spend to support? I think it's fair to say that 60-70 bucks, for a high quality game once a year, is definitely worth it. Nobody is forcing you to buy this. It's still a 100% free game, that you can decide to support, if you feel like it has provided you entertainment for years on years. In my opinion all that matters, is whether or not it lives up to faker's legacy, if that's what it is supposed to do.
@@Pr0x1m1f1c4710n ive spent multiple hundreds on league across the 3ish years ive played. this skin pricing is atrocious. either dont make it exclusive, or dont make it impossible to afford for 99% of the playerbase

@@Pr0x1m1f1c4710n They are trying to extort Faker's fanbase for a rediculous amount of money, when Faker himself doesn't even use skins. It's immoral and pretadory. That's what companies do, if they see they can drain more money from their customers with no concequences they won't hesitate. the 200$ chromas were only the start, now we have 500$ skins and who knows where it'll stop if people keep buying this shit...
Is this it? Is this the sign that there is still hope for the forsaken, those who play this game? Is this the era of them putting past grivences, wounds suffered when they invaded the sacred jungle of others? Dove head first into enemy territory, right under the watchful eyes of ancient beasts, stone monuments protecting the descendant of old, showing such bravery only to be denounced and marked forever as intfeeders? Is this where they finally unite as one to bring about the age of prosperity for all? (yeah.. maybe I need medical help..)
Riot will just make it impossible to select the same champ for banning twice in a row or something to make this impossible. The only form of complaint towards Riot which actually works is to STOP playing the game.
NO one will, because if they wanted to actually boycott the skin they would stop playing. But they are either too addicted and want to keep playing or just lie and want to feel like they are doing something with banning Ahri (which they aren't)
Hate me! I bought the $50 Ahri skin. In 10 years I think that I've spent under $300 in total on League. Amazing value. Everyone can go cry more, riot isn't forcing anyone to spend money.
You forgot to account for the cases where ahri gets through bans but not into the game. A lot of games, about 2/3 of the time ahri gets through bans but then when anyone picks it, someone will just dodge. I play in dia+ where most players need to use their ban for competitive edge but also dodging is so casual that they don't mind adding just one more reason to dodge in their book.
@@gredax buying this skin doesn't support faker, also the skin is clean, but the price for it is ridiculious, if we can afford it or not, doesn't matter, the thing that matters is riot turning into a greedy company (that they honestly always have been) making expensive skins only

I've been an Ahri main for years, was only missing the last 2 skins due to taking a break, and this to me was the end. I'm glad to see that the community actually made a dent in the ban rates, but it doesn't really matter, Riot will never change and I'd rather not touch their games anymore.
I hadn't played league in half a year and came back to this. Riot's prices for skins have been getting out of hand for years now, but this is just insane. I almost wanted to quit again. Love that people are boycotting this though lmao

It's pretty baffling that the League community can band together to "boycott" a $500 skin, by trying to constantly ban Ahri in draft pick. But cannot be able to stand up against having Chinese spyware being disguised as a anti cheat software that can even brick your PC. Gotta love to stupid priorities the League community has. But then again, these are the same clowns that spitefully got a buck broken crystal rock scorpion monster to get a VGU that took four damn years to complete when we could've had VGUs for Nocturne, Corki, Shaco, and even Shyvana's VGU by now.
Respectfully, at the end of the day we just don't care about that since the "chinese spyware" you speak of is in basically every device we all use, same as american and british spyware. So before you target a specific audience, please think about your circumstances aswell. Also one queston do you have tiktok or instagram or even snapchat on any of your devices?
Why are the players at fault for Riot sitting on their hands to VGU Skarner? Riot could've just reworked all 5, they release new champions literally all the time but VGUs don't rake in the dough so instead they'll pump newer hotter champs and more whale-bait skins
To be fair the prestige skins for a while have basically just buy the pass which is kinda like buying and epic skin and grind the game for a while and get the skin. To call them 100 dollars is only for people who don’t actually play the game
A dude I used to duo with bought the skin, and would be the one to ban Ahri. Just because he wants to show Riot how stupid their move is. He doesn't regret a thing weirdly enough.
I think it'll do well, from Asia server just like TFT premium skins, you'd think it's expensive, but once you go into ranked or normals at least a few people are already rocking them day 1 Also they'd know that anyone inducted in the coming years won't have as much of a pull as Faker, so this is probably the highest they can charge out of anyone inductee for this series.
I saw on one page of league of legends korea that some koreans were shocked about the price but they didnt do much about it. Maybe a few joined the banahri boycott but is was much less
Continue the boycott and please people, if those helldivers fanboy and stellarblade weebs managed to pressure the dev we can do it too! DOWNVOTE WILD RIFT AND TFT, leave LOR alone cuz they gigachads.
It's not exactly the cosmetics, it's the fact that Riot's leadership seems to be using it to fill their wallets. This even comes just a few months off the heels of them firing most of their writers and cutting support for their spin-off games. It's corporate greed and an attempt to profit from LoL spending addicts. When presented with the option to stand up to the 1%, the answer is always yes.
Honestly the physical statue for $300 should've been the original deal, and it should've come with the digital skin on purchase, that's it. (And maybe a digital-only version at that price, specifically for people who are in regions which Riot could not ship the physical item too)
About the statue being cheaper than the skin, its not ACTUALLY cheaper, to my knowledge. The shipping can make it like $900. I dont think that buying EITHER of these things is valid, though the statue is more valid just because its a physical object, but you do have to see that the "digital version" (the skin) is priced likely to be literally what I said, a digital version of the statue - so they priced it to somewhat level out with the shipping price across the world. I do think its a bit of a scam to list something at one price with the possibility that the shipping will be nearly double the original price, but unfortunately we live in a world of corporate gaslighting.
I honestly can't understand how this pass can be rated as "really good" or better than previous passes, previous passes yielded some tokens at least that you could spend on orbs, an additional skin, emotes ? frames or mythic essence, this ones gives like 7-8 keys and a few chests in total for the same price.
You know reality kicks in when LEAGUE PLAYERS as a collective would rather ban a champ and risk not banning something that will lose them the game or risking a triggered ahri running it down mid than allow someone to use a skin. Its beautiful really
YEAH, AND IT WILL BE HOW RIOT MADE ANOTHER INCREDIBLE BUSINESS DECISION THAT KEPT A 15 YEAR LEGACY RUNNING FOR ANOTHER DECADE AT LEAST, IT WONT BE THE TELLING OF EVENTS YOU WANT LIL BRO HAHAHAHAHA
The ban thing is cool as in seeing communities gathering and trying to pull something off but at the end of the day if people still bought the skin than riot still wins in the end, as long as they get their money i dont think they care much about her being banned
At the end with the statue, you should have shown it after shipping costs. It's more expensive than buying the $500 package because Korea has different shipping dimensions than anywhere else. I can't remember exactly what it is, but it makes shipping things costly.
This is not aggressive pricing. It would mean Riot sees Dota skin prices, and they decide to cut under them and sell their skins cheaper in hopes of seducing some of their "customers". This is predatory pricing, where they know very well, whales are willing to pay $500 for some in game pixels. Heck, some would pay even $50,000, just because they want to show off they can. But some players are addicts and can't help but buy the new skins as a form of a "fix", even though this is detrimental to their financial health.
Rito employee sold his soul and said they are happy about the release cus only the whales bought it so that means they were not preasuing ppl to buy it. And he then said they want to give ppl ways to spend a lot on the hobbies they love like ppl do on warhammer...ignoring the fact that 1 people do complain about the cost of Warhammer to the point where many ppl argue about how ethical it is to 3d print. And 2 those are physical models that last forever if u take care of them while league is a digital online only content that will eventually shutdown.
Prestige skins (by my understanding) weren't $100, you could get them for just buying an event pass and playing games to grind tokens. They've even made it easier to grind for Prestige skins and given us the option of Mythic Essence which can also be obtained just by buying the pass which lets people get old prestige skins in a rotating shop. I feel like some of the criticisms for Prestige skins were valid, but the price one also felt a little stupid to me since you could get most prestige skins just by spending $15 on a battle pass and then playing League of Legends.
It amazes me how people are willingly giving money to a company that does nothing other than pushing out skins that might take at most a day or two of work, and just charge hundreds of dollars for them. Thought players understood of fucked up Riot's pricing is when they release a Valorant bundle for 120 bucks, I guess some folks are just too busy licking the corporate boots. You can try to excuse the "oh but they are making new things like a game mode!" all you want, it still doesn't change the fact that a skin pack costing as much as a console is nothing short of a scam.
And if $500 is half your paycheck even for 2 weeks, you got bigger problems to worry about than boycotting a skin and your energy critically needs to be directed elsewhere.
Honestly stuff like this is wild, I get the work that goes into it on the art team is a lot, and there is a ton of effort there, but when you look at other free to plays like warframe where there big bundles are max like 60 bucks and i get new content every single couple months makes it far more reasonable as there is tangibility to what I'm contributing towards but then theres rito who puts out some fun game modes that then vanish for 6 months and are only out for like a week when they are back make it feel far less like money well spent, or release cool skins so champs get over played and then nerfed to be garbage shortly after to rebalance the picked champ ecosystem so even then your basically investing in a month of enjoying your new skin before the champs either trash from nerfs or rito in their inability to actually balance anything will just over buff other laners to "freshen the meta" pushing your champ out of viability like so many times before.
Im just gonna say that by banning Ahri people wont acomplish ANYTHING, this wont affect Riot in any way. You know what would? If all those people crying on twitter would actually stop playing the game, but they wont.
Imagine making a skin and claiming it represents a guy who never EVER uses skins (the one time he did was a misclick), overpricing it to hell and back, and then being shocked that your fanbase is big time angry about it. As if the Jhin $200 garbage skin wasn't bad enough.
The statue could actually increase in value. Oh, but the value of this digital signature only accessible in the League client... of the best player in the game... mmm.... well, I guess that's up to Faker and Riot.
