That was a great first video. Thank you so much for doing this because I have been trying to find this very comparison. My toy set just arrived today and I do think that for $65 it's pretty cool. I have the opportunity to buy the limited edition set for not much more than they were sold for and I am thinking about doing it but I never knew how big they were compared to the LGT version. I will probably go ahead and get the Limited Edition version just for collectability and cool box but I think for my use and just size-wise I like the LGT set better than the KR's, plus I wouldn't spend that much money on them anyway.

Thanks! The box on the limited edition ones is truly gorgeous. If you can get it for close to original price, it's definitely worth it. Worst case, you can get back what you paid if you change your mind later. The LGT are really nice, too, but for different reasons, obviously. If you want the modern soundboard features, I'd say it's the best option. KRs are an absolute work of art, but man, that price tag is painful. I'm not sure if I'll ever get mine installed. My plan is to eventually paint my own wooden box to be similar to the LE box, but fit either the LGT or KR sets. No idea when I'll get around to that, but expect a video of it when I do.

I am still getting used to the fact that I could build my own lightsaber🤯 I am now 1 month post-build and I am still raving over it! It took my wife a little while but she came around to appreciate it too😅 I did get the second kyber crystal at Dok Andar's and was super excited bringing it home on the plane 😂 now I train to be a Jedi knight on my Oculus in the Dojo with lightsabers and all. I am a fan. But I would not pay more than $300 "maybe" for another lightsaber.

Just had a grand idea for the re-use of that clamshell landfill disaster package. Save the hilt portion for a makeshift saber stand!

I am intrigued by the idea, but not sure how that would work. Please do post/link a video if you decide to experiment with this!

@@Fanporium Packaging took me 20 minutes, resulting sharp plastic edges would pretty much do it in. Oh well. Good news is they arrived safely and mine has a very responsive motion sensor array!

Something happened with one of the blades I've never had happen before: the polycarbonate sleeve split from the connector! It would still work but not anything I'd feel comfortable operating. As I was trying to figure out how/where to glue it back, my friend asked had I contacted Disney yet. I figured they'd tell me no, sad to hear, blah blah. I got approved right away for a replacement set. Even got a free UPS label. So if something similar happens to yours, call em.

@Fanporium
@Fanporium Год назад
@@doublea422 Thrawn Hunters feel more like what they really would, based on the shows. LGT are easier to hold if you plan to spin them, as they're a bit rounder / less flat. You just need to make sure you don't hit the activation nub by mistake.

You should cover custom lightsaber fabricators and installers.
@Fanporium
@Fanporium 10 месяцев назад
I have covered several of the custom manufacturers, and there will be more of that. Installers I might get to eventually, but they're a much more expensive part of the hobby than I have budget for at the moment. I'm more focused on the stuff that's relatively accessible to the larger portion of the fandom.

What a great, thorough review. Thank you so much for taking the time. Would you say that these plastic lightsabers would be sturdy enough to fence with my 8-year old or are we likely to break them? It looks betters (but flimsier) than the forge collection.
@Fanporium
@Fanporium 11 месяцев назад
Definitely much sturdier than the Lightsaber Forge ones! They do have the LEDs inside the blades, so you can run the risk of losing a light or two if you smack them too hard. But overall I'd say they're perfect for sparring with an 8 year old. Plus they're 25% off today on Shop Disney, and it's a steal at that price! I have some reviews of the other sabers in this line and they're all pretty great.

Today was a Shop Disney flash sale at 30% off so I got a set or their toy version. This will complete my collection of the toy line but I'm hoping they made an orange blade saber / character just to make the full spectrum display.
@Fanporium
@Fanporium Год назад
Nice! I'm only missing the one from Galactic Starcruiser, which I'm hoping a friend can pick up for me in September. Orange would be cool. I don't think there are any orange-bladed sabers that would be popular enough to justify a kid-targeted produce. But we can hope!

@@Fanporium I'm hoping Baylan Skoll will be a character strong enough to get a lightsaber made by Shop Disney. With Galactic Starcruiser closing I'm wondering if shop Disney will try to put out the blue lightaaber as some items were put up recently for a short time. One can hope! :)

@@changartguy99 I’m hoping they will at some point, just like they did with the costumes. But I also suspect they’ll sell out quickly, as they probably don’t keep a lot of those in stock at any given time.

When you say “open them up to liability,” I hear “their construction sucks and they break when dropped.” So thanks for letting me know what else to avoid. 😅
@Fanporium

Probably poor wording, on my part. The point I was trying to make is that the toy belt clips are so flimsy that if they were attached to a much heavier saber (like the Legacy ones), they would easily pop off your belt and send the saber crashing to the round. No matter how sturdy, no one wants that to happen to a saber they spent a few hundred dollars on. So Disney was smart enough to prevent this from happening by making the toy belt clip and covertec wheel smaller, so only the toy sabers could be used with them. A pretty ingenious idea, if you ask me.

Good callout on the packaging. I really don't understand why companies are still using such wasteful and annoying clamshell stuff.
@Fanporium
@Fanporium 2 года назад
The original version of this toy line had non-removable blades and came in a triangular cardboard package. So the move to plastic was intentional when they switched to removable blades. Probably based on cost or on easy of shipping/stocking/etc. I just don't agree with the decision. That said, I'd *love* to take one of their product managers out to lunch and pick their brain over why some of the decisions were made.
@KirkWinterrowd
@KirkWinterrowd 2 года назад
@@Fanporium I agree on the packaging and also didn't know that there was another toy line that had non-removable blades. I'll have to look for those. Do you have them?
@Fanporium
@Fanporium 2 года назад
I do. It was Rey, Yoda, Vader, and Kylo Ren in the original line. I think it was a few years ago that they swapped it for the removable blade versions. I'll eventually do a video on those, too. But if you look up the Dan-O Channel here on RU-vid he has done side-by-side comparisons of just about all of them. His channel is a gold mine of toy comparisons! The one annoying thing about the DIsney Store toy line is that they don't give it a produce line name. So it's hard to find them by keyword on eBay, etc. You have to sort through a bunch of straw to find the needle. But "disney store lightsaber" is a good place to start, then look for the ones with the triangular box.
