Yeah I hate what they did with Sabine but I cant wait to see what happens with Baylon, Ezra, and Thrawn. But if they don't recast Baylon and continue with the same story they had planned I'll be so disappointed. I hate how people think recasting is like an insult to the actor or something stupid like that.
@Lilac-and-Gooseberries omg that's the best news I've heard in a long time lol thanks for saying that it seriously feels like a weight off my chest from worrying about it haha
@@MC-zr7hla theory I saw is that Sabine is only able to wield the force is because of how strong the force is on that planet. So it kinda amplified her force abilities rather than just her being a normal force sensitive character.
@gotone2513 I could get behind that, but even just her being Ahsokas apprentice I thought was kinda lame. Like they could still be a team without the whole apprentice thing. She was already a bad ass Mandalorian, it wasn't necessary to add that bit to her character. It would have been cool if there was ever a hint during Rebels that she might have been force sensitive but there never was. She trained to use the darksaber but that was about it that I can remember.
@@RRai2000 Ahoska season 2 was almost canceled just like Acolyte. Honestly I'd watch BOBF again before I watch Ahsoka again. I'm also a TCW fan and have watched Rebels and all the other animated series. Filoni needs to stay away from the director and writers chairs when it comes to live action and his writing ability in general is shaky.
@@farwoodfarm9296 Cope with it. Star Wars Fantatic had a much better responses than your childish rant which I found it to be funny and cliche. Besides The Acolyte only failed because of its writing and the showruner. Use that stupid brain of yours to think next. Genius lol
Did you know, David, that there were changes after production when Ray Stephenson died? They have to change the story a little bit, so the end was altered.
The really annoying part about new Star Wars Content taking place in the Legends Era's is the reluctance of using Legends Material more. With many Legends Characters and Storylines, the existing lore and storytelling is ALREADY GREAT! Live Action Projects could visualize and expand on this existing awesome lore, and it would be amazing. But it feels like it always comes down to creating some entirely new spin off that ends up being weaker than the source material.
most likely a stall because of bad reception on a lot of star wars projects. they literally get the worst writers to destroy star wars. it's sad. it's like they write it, and no one reviews it before it goes into production.
I hope Ahsoka season 2 focuses alot more on Thrawn & Ghost Crew. 2025 is going to be abit quiet, I think at least 3 shows, end of Skeleton Crew, Andor season 2 & hopefully an animated show
You have rapidly become one of my favorite Star Wars channels… You have great takes, and seem to be on top of every single issue before almost anyone else… Thank you so much
Why is there such long waits between seasons. I just rewatched Ashoka season 1. It’s a great story and I can’t wait for season 2. I hope Zeb will be part of season 2. Also I want 1 hour long episodes and more episodes per season say 20, For all of the streaming shows. The acolyte failed because it was a poorly written and acted story. Which had cannon breaking lore that cannot be messed with period. Feloni should not have allowed that to be made as it was. Yoda cannot have known any of that! It would have made him complicit in covering up the Sith being back.
Sabine has always had Force abilities. Repressed, but clearly there. Shin is mighty with the Force. The two of them are like book-ends. I see it as inevitable that the Force will pull them together by mutual respect (etc), and they will make a mostly invincible tag team duo! In other words, they will end up fighting FOR each other, instead of against each other! Oh the humanity, well... the 'whateverity'! What I really am astounded by is the DEPTH of the casting for Ahsoka! Just, simply, epic casting! Ahsoka does need longer episodes and an end to skimming. Developing the depth of these characters, utilizing the cast that now portray them is a true gold mine! If they can cast to properly continue on where Ray left off... Magic! From Huyang to Jaycen (and everyone in between), the history and potential of the Ahsoka Series is exponential! Run with it! Run with it!
Asking if fans are ready is the wrong question. KOTOR was almost 100% new Star Wars and was well received and is now revered by many 'old school' fans. Filoni is clearly well versed in KOTOR's lore.
KotOR is easily my favorite Star Wars game, and though I never played the MMO "The Old Republic", I thoroughly enjoyed the trailers and wished they would make movies/series in that animation style. All new characters and was amazing.
It will probably be sooner than that. It’s going to start filming as soon as the Mandalorian and Grogu is done filming, which will be later this year, not summer 2025.
So much so yes about the episode lengths. These 30 - 40 minute episodes are pathetic and are simply not long enough to do justice to the stories. They should be ashamed of themselves lol And regarding Manny, I'd rather them just give him his own show and explore Plagueis that way. He was by far the best part of that show.
I must say I'm pretty darn pissed that it takes so long to make these shows. I have a terminal genetic liver disease and even if I get a transplant I have been told I will most likely not be alive by the time these come out. I have plenty of things to be upset about but this is definitely one of them. I guess me and Ray Stevenson can watch them from the other side.
❤🙏 to you. It's ridiculous they take so long nowadays. Not so long ago we had much better writers pumping out 23 hour long episodes a year and the special effects/sets were still top notch.
Wish we could have gotten more on Barriss. I was upset on how and it was two short the episodes was. It was good. We need more on tales of the empire. They should have made more episodes. Geez. Wow
I think they've shown a lot of weaknesses canceling the show... I agree that it's basically an excuse and throws all the good stuff in the trash. Avoiding responsibility for certain, likey key decision makers. I think this call em out, no gaslighting!!
I think Star Wars Celebration (April 2025) has some surprises in store... release dates changes, new projects announced, teases of a great many things.
If it’s good, it’ll do well. If it’s not good, ppl will be pissed. Its really that simple. Fans aren’t concerned about “risks” or new directions, in fact most are probably hoping for that after the re-treaded nonsense that were episodes 7-9.
There could be some cross-over between Ahsoka season 2 and the Mando movie so that the narrative of the show makes more sense coming after the film. Anyway let’s see. I’m excited to see how it all unfolds from Skeleton Crew to the movie and Ahsoka. Although I’ve gotta say I’m super excited for Andor season 2! It’s going to be awesome! Really looking forward to a time when we can sit down and watch Andor 1&2 followed by Rogue One and A New Hope!!!! Yaa-hooo!!! 🙌❤️😎
You know, I hope everything works out and I hope ahsoka is able to Reach her full potential as the daughter, the pure embodiment of the light side. And hope we see Force ghost Anakin Skywalker at his full potential as the Chosen one/ The God of the Force.
It's laughable to think that there were three movies announced at a Celebration event just last year, and the next film that will actually come out was none of those three. That defines how mismanaged the brand has been in recent years.
Thank you, Meg, for, once again, being fair and balanced. I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed The Acolyte. But, I'm also a realist and can admit its FEW flaws. I don't know how production works, but it should not take THIS long to figure out that 24 minute episodes are fine if you're doing episodic tv like almost the entirety of The Clone Wars. These live action shows, especially ones that explore new territory and characters, need longer run times, period. Keep up the great work!
Yo, they NEED to finish the story of Qimir, the twins, Vernestra and Darth Plagueis. If they can't afford a show, then just make them novels. Something. Anything.
always enjoyed your videos, and content. Others are just so "one sided", so much negativities. At last I've found a shelter here. Looking forward to Ashoka S2. Loved the1st so much! Keep it up, the Force in you is Strong!
I don’t think these multi year long breaks between seasons help. It causes the story to bloat budget to bloom and overall lack of engagement from cast and crew. I think it’s great for show runners who are also doing the bulk of the writing but it hasn’t helped story. We need to get back to a show system that works (writers room, et cetera ).
What if it were revealed Sabine DOESN'T really have the force (at least not yet or to that extent), but that a force entity from Peridea was acting through her because the situation demanded it, that it wasn't actually her power she was tapping into.
I am totally with you regarding the length of the episodes. The first three episodes of season 2 to of “Rings of Power” are all > 60 mins, giving all the storylines time to be told. If you want to honor and expand the Star Wars lore, especially if you want to win new viewers, that’s the way to do it.
The length of the episodes isn't the problem. It's the content that it was limited to with Ray Stephenson's death. The series builds in the first season, but a lot of that world and character building was jeopardized with events outside the story. They had to cut the final three episodes and stretch the story without reshoots. For many fans, the story is fine. Some missed Sabine's arc, while others were on top of it. That's been building since Season 1 of *Rebels.*
How does Disney expect to keep people interested in their shows when the take 3-year breaks between seasons? Between ridiculously short episodes, and extremely short seasons, & multiple year gaps between seasons is nothing more than a recipe for increasing failure.
The worry the acolyte fans have (including myself) is that Disney will interpret the low viewership as the outcome of taking risks, while disregarding the actual complaints people had with the show. I actually liked the acolyte but i can see the problems that it had. Disney only cares about money, and seeing that the first live action show during an older time in star wars didn't perform as they hoped it would, it's very much likely they will stop taking risks, such as the movie you mentioned about the first jedi. It's a completly logical arguement the acolyte fans are making because they obviously don't trust disney with this.
Also, people seem to be forgetting that the Acolyte was review-bombed before it was even out. Sure, there were aspects of the show that could have been better, but "bad writing" was obviously not the reason for the premature review-bombing. And I think many people can name shows that had less-than-stellar first seasons and excellent second seasons. The Acolyte could easily be one of them, if Disney is willing.
The question is whether Disney actually losed money with the Acolyte, hard to say. It could be that in 20 years the fandom will unite in bringing the show back, but I fear that by then AI would be so advanced that anyone could simply ask in a prompt for a season 2 and it would be there. The days of IPs are counted and Disney must make some $ while it can (meaning doing something with the story soon)
There is some truth to it, that SW Fans react negatively to new things, or things that go against their headcanons. A lot of the arguments we saw also quoted non-canon material and then claimed the Acolythe went against canon. And the whole concept "if they are good changes" is highly subjective, dear Meg. To me the acolythe held some good changes, to others obviously not. But I think the Mangold Movie is already doomed, they can't do it right, there will be "fans" and haters all over. Even Andor, the best show there is, got a lot of flag for being different.
Sabine isn’t a Jedi. Ahsoka isn’t a Jedi, she makes a point of saying it. A jedi is someone who has been trained by the Jedi and lives according to their beliefs and traditions. Sabine is a force user.
The late Ray Stevenson was the best part of the show. His recasting choice has to have his gravitas. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Graham MacTavish. He could be a seasoned enough actor to copy Ray's N Irish accent. People are talking Liev Schrieber(sp?) but I fear his attempt will sound like the South Boston "Ray Donovan" accent he did for years.
In the end The Acolyte wasn't something really new. By the end of the third episode I got the strong feeling I was being told Headland's particular version of Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And not a very good one, in my opinion. I don't really have much hype for Ahsoka season 2, but it's the Mandoverse, so whenever it comes, I'll sure watch it. Maybe I'll even like it more than season 1.
I'm totally for films exploring the earlier part of the time line, especially since I personally have not read any of the star wars novels and comic books as of yet.
Consider this. Any Universe consists of infinite realities and timelines and experiences and situations and moments where any infinite amount of moments interactions exist. So to get stuck on characters and disciplines of the force and established storylines stunts the experience and the storytelling. I force to rule them all. I force to bind them. Stay true to the spirit of things and serve the story from any angle you can just bring it full circle to keep it relevant.
Dear Meg, I love your channel. It’s wonderful. I am incredibly frustrated and confused as to why the time between each season is so long each of the shows is so short and they’re so few of them if it’s going to be that long between seasons at least have an actual season of maybe 9 to 12 episodesit’s OK if not longer but just more of them this really makes me not wanna watch Disney Channel anymore. I really kinda had it with them. I love Star Wars. I love all the things you have to say about them but frankly, I simply lose interest anymore
Hi Meg, awesome video, Mega excited about Ahsoka 2 shame we have to wait so long, Acolyte was not liked because it was not good enough, I will watch anything once but if it was not worth the money they spent, and people should not blame you it was not your fault, I hope that the new movies are great Star Wars needs it, thank you SWM
The storyline The Dawn of the Jedi, tell how the Force was discovered. Next we have The Book of the Wills: the Philosophy of Life and the Force. Lastly, Corruption the Force, about how the Shadow of Darkness brought for the Sith.
Won't even begin filming for almost another year? This is a big reason why I dislike modern media. By the time a follow up season is released, often years later, I've ceased to be invested in the original story.
If Disney actually put people in charge that cared about the soul and spiritual side of Star Wars, we wouldn't continue to receive all these shows that only get one season. Pair people up who can make good stories, understand Star Wars' various themes and philosophies, and people who understand how to make quality content on a budget... Throwing money at Star Wars guarantees nothing.
We want to see Luke and the new Jedi order in animation, they give us Star Wars babies,we want to see season two of ahsoka instead we can have a movie about people we don’t know or care about because we’ve waited 40 years to see the hero’s Disney decides we can wait.they cancel two great projects we wanted to give us the sleep that was acolyte.they wonder why people stop watching maybe because we saw those shows two years ago and we don’t want to wait so move on to more reliable entertainment.heres what successful shows do Disney,a season every season.stop acting like waiting makes it better it drives us away
The question isn't are we ready to visit a different point in the Star Wars timeline, but rather... do we have the right team to make that story soar from the past decade of shaky Disney-backed projects? Sitting in the theater during Rogue One when that infamous red lightsaber illuminated the smoke-filled hall is one of my favorite, and strongest adult Star Wars-related memories. It was something different in the sense it had been so long since we had a big Star Wars feature that had great talent, and not copy-pasting cameos and tricks over and over. I'm super excited for Ahsoka season 2 and more Mando for sure, and bummed it'll take longer to get that season 2, but it'll totally be worth it if taht means the story is given the time and attention needed to be that satisfying every film or show should be. I hope LucasFilm takes a few steps back to the drawing board, and gives Star Wars a much needed refresh in the sense of writing and execution, to break this pattern misses, near misses, and really bringing back quality to each installment rather than just cranking out as much as possible, as fast as possible.
I loved the acolyte! I'm definitely one of those fans that say the modern fans just like to complain. It's not even just S.W ppl today just like to b**ch! Haven't you ever heard be happy for what u get not worry about what you don't. We all Disney wasn't lucas' from the start....
It's mostly reviewers worrying about their own popularity and "reputation". Everyone had to jump on the hate bandwagon or face the wrath of the whiners. Basically Star Wars got hijacked by the lowest common denominator.
Well, I'm excited to hear Ahsoka season 2 is planned...I just didn't think it was going to take this long. I don't know know how they're going to replace Ray Stevenson, I mean he literally stole the show in just about every scene he was in as Baylan. Has anyone explained what the deal is about the orange lightsabers? I thought season 2 would deal more on Baylan's philosophy and how it differs from the Jedi, but also the Sith. How do you make an orange lightsaber? Not put your full hate into the kyber crystal? I think the Acolyte was wrong to incorporate yellow lightsabers (see them in the prequels anyone?), but if Dave Filoni talked about why orange lightsabers please let me know.
Counseling the Star Wars acolyte a horrible idea what they should do is put more experience writers that actually no Star Wars understand Star Wars and has a desire to push this franchise into a new direction behind the helm and make season two something amazing
The biggest letdowns on the Acolyte was Mae's crazy opening line AND the music didn't match the screenplay. That bothered me so much! Looking forward to more Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka and hopefully Boba w/ Mando.
For me I tried to give Acolyte a chance but in the end the writing just didn’t make sense, especially with Sol. For a character that everyone praised as virtuous it just didn’t make sense what he did and why.
Acolyte just needs a new production team to make it with different attitudes and priorities. It touched on some big ideas and could apply some important lessons.
I would like to see an origin from if it's done right. I'm an original star wars fan from the 80s and would also like more Skywalker stories. Ideally with someone who looks like Mark Hamill.
There is 1000% no way they will not release the rest of the Acolyte story in some other form of media. There show sucked, but with Plagueis showing up, there are some MAJOR plot elements that have big implications for the entire SW timeline that they can’t leave unresolved. It may be in the form of a comic book or novel, but I have no doubt the rest of that story will be told.
