A fantastic track and a big hit in its day. It remains a mystery as to why Alhaji AB never progressed musically to really give KSA and Emperor Pick Peter a run for their monies and be at similar level as KSA, the great one today. Perhaps it was because they focused too much on copying KSA at the time but couldn't evolve out of that. KSA took things to unbelievable level with compositions, instruments and drums repertoire of the very highest order to become the greatest musician to have ever lived bar NONE but AAB and others just disappeared until recently in interviews. I know AAB had accidents etc but he could have achieved so much more. But it's probably late now as he approach his 80s. He'll sadly go down as another nearly one.
Ahuja Bello, a very creative rival to KSA back in the early 70ties. Please take you time to listen to the rhythm, it's closeness to that of KSA is superb. Also note that, he was with Sunny Ade. I'll encourage you to please watch "Ahuja Bello live" on stage and you will be amazed as to his dancing skills and steps. Just like KSA. You can hardly distinguish either of them. I'm a KSA fan though, Bravo to both men.
Ahuja Bello provided an alternative to KSA in those days, but he was unable to keep pace with the subsequent dynamics of the Juju music industry, and how to handle those dynamics. The same can be said of Emperor Pick Peters, Captain Jide Ojo, Shina Adewale, Expensive Olubi, etc.
Thanks Egba Alaka for bringing back what we old folks call music,it will be appreciated if by chance you can upload Itan Ajantala by Alhaji Monsuru Akande
I was only 16 in 1975 when I first heard this song at a friend's house in Agege, although I was heavy into KSA back then, I remember thinking to myself wow, this guy is better than my idol KSA!. the beginning guitar fireworks on this record made me a believer in Ahuja Bello. Thanks EgbaAlake for bringing back the good old days.
That's not possible sir . As at 1975 he was still an electrician he said it with his mouth that he came to London in 1975 to buy his electrician equipment cos as at 1975 he was still working as a stage technician. He dint make his first album until late 70's.
no one can compare his music with king sunny Ade ,because the tempo and the percussion differ ,but He was a great musician .This is what we old people of yester years normally enjoyed .The glamour of music and general enjoyment is gone in Nigeria ,but God will bo it again Egba Alake thanks for this beautiful of oldies .What of Toye Ajagun and Idowu Animashaun Alias Apola King God bless you
I listened the other day when he was interviewed, l was close to him, the band, his family and friends. We were like siblings, nice, God is awesome and faithful, lam wishing him God's continuous love and Grace. Revd Paul Seun Joseph __London, UK,
