Personally I’m not a fan of babymonster I do think they are good but I do think her voice sounded ehh.. Regardless of whether Ahyeon is screaming or not, I think the main reason that she sounds unpleasant is due to her naturally high and nasal tone during singing/ rapping and lack of control. In order to not hurt her vocal cords, I think she needs more practice. YG can also give more high notes to Rami, Rora and Pharita who can control their voices better during a high note at this stage. However, it is undeniable that Ahyeon is talented and she doesn’t deserve so many hate.

The people around me gave each other weird looks when she rapped because it sounded off and a girl even shook her head when she screamed her note. The others were so harmonious and she stuck out like a sore thumb. She feels like she wanted to be a soloist and has no clue what it means to be part of a team and be in sync with them. Even her dancing was over exaggerated. It’s not nice. It looks odd. And even the better dancers like Ruka and Asa know how to blend in with the rest of the member. She has zero control over her voice power, and her body. It’s not pretty to look at or to listen to. It was a concern from the get go. Remember in last evaluation when the singer from Akmu was worried she would be “greedy” ( her words not mine) and overshadow the others. She ended up pulling it off (proof that she can when she wants to) but the fact that it was a concern to start with means it’s been a problem since the beginning.

Tbh Rami and Rora are better at controlling their vocals and better in singing overall , Ahyeon just sings with a natural loud and sharp voice and sometimes during parts where ot7 sings I can mostly only hear Ahyeons voice which is quite annoying and painful to listen to

This is definitely the worse part of the song to me (the whole song is mid but decent, the brigde is nice but Ahyeon high note really ruins the whole thing). i think a lot of people that say it's belting really haven't received any sort of vocal training/classes. the first clip is fine it's just rapping but the second clip is extremely hard to listen to as she was straining a lot, and she strains quite often during that highnote in sheesh. i think that in the future if they want to give ahyeon highnotes, they should give her ones that are either more fitting to her range or she carries them out in a different technique. because straining constantly will damage your vocal chords and id hate to see that happen to her 😓

Unfortunately that the vocal reputation that has been built since pre-debut is easily ruined by their own producer by placing the members in the wrong position carelessly. It's true that in the pre-debut period, Rami, who led the vocals and high notes, was replaced by a member who couldn't handle it well and instead made the group the target of haters.
