AI Handicap Challenge 100%/120% 

I just ran a small 16-player event with 200% handicap. (Not pros, though the highest ranked player is 2k+) Trust me, it is VERY unbalanced. Sicilians faster building of castle and tc’s stack, f.ex. So four villagers build a castle in approx. 15 seconds 😂

IMO the meta will be very stally due to the building HP and build speed increase. Also the devs worked real hard to nerf towers and this brings them back to where they are pre WK

@@vigatcb4894 This is a "yes" and "no". Siege still has the same bonus damage (or rather 200% bonus damage) vs buildings, so even though the castles have 200% hit points, you still take them out with 7 petards. But indeed, strong walls makes it easier to turtle, and there's zero point in not going Fc with double starting resources (which btw Chinese suffer hard from, starting at 0 food, while Lithuanians get 150 extra.)

handicap has to be between 100% and 200%, so you would have to give yourself the handicap and leave the AI at 100%

it doesn't have +20% vil production. Here is the full list: Economic Faster gather rate for villagers Higher carry capacity More starting resources Higher Villager HP (max +25, since villager base HP is only 25) Faster build speed Military More HP on all buildings More bonus damage for counter units Faster work rate for military buildings You are right about it being more than 120%. The the 3 economic advantages affecting villager work speed does that, although I'm not sure how farms are affected. It's probably not as large as your reasoning though. The military and Villager HP advantages are difficult to quantify. The issue is that the buffs stack. They have a massive economy advantage so you need to kill villagers, which have extra HP. Whatever army you build the AI will be able to quickly build the counter, which has extra bonus damage. Buildings are built faster and have extra HP. I'm wondering how aware the devs were of these synergies. Also the faster military production means you don't need as many buildings, saving that wood and giving a significant military numbers advantage in the early game.

I am 14xx and would have definitely lost against that 120% Extreme AI.

You should get it man! I played age of kings/conq. during childhood as well and only picked it back up a year ago when DE came out. I hadnt played in something like 15-20 yrs either, but you relearn quick and the nostalgia is amazing.

you memorize the hotkeys by playing its a very natural progression

You can by luring their armies under your garrisoned castles and sniping their siege. Otherwise you need tons of gold to hard counter their trash.

AOK and AOC on the highest difficulty (Hardest) don't use cheat codes per say. But they do actually get bonus "cheat" resources. The new AI starting from HD and on no longer "cheats" this way.

he does from time to time, he just likes casting also, he's top 100, whereas most tournaments get to like, top 40

@@kyallokytty if he wants to, he could easily be top 10 I guess...

Thats tough to estimate as it depends on your playstyle- if you are defensive (like myself) and the ai game goes late you are in trouble. I managed to beat the extreme AI at an elo of ~950, but that was ONLY with goths and imperial spam

@@nathanfranks1476 wow crazy, I'm like 950~ ish too, and I lose against Extreme but beat Hard consistently. Im usually playing cumans or burgundians. Going for Knights as early as possible. Im usually an agressive player as soon as my eco as ok'ish which is around Castle age obv.

These drushes from Extreme Ai knock me out every time.

@@KawaiiThresh they drush you? I recall ever having to deal with that! It was usually feudal and castle age that i got hit.

I read that the Extrem AI would be rated ~1000-1100, but has its weakness in early game. Once its starts booming, its very strong. Thats why TheViper had trouble against multiple AIs, he can't beat them fast enough before one or two have so many units, he couldn't hold them off anymore.
