Ok I’m sad. Crying! Balling!😭. The ending just proves that Lason won. Hear me out ⚠️. As much as I thought it was romantic in my younger days, I’m 20 rn, I’ll be very honest. Riki has developed what we all know as Stockholm syndrome. I’m not gonna gloss over the fact that was Lason did to poor Riki over his years as a pet wasn’t bad. Because by definition it was. This led Riki to be SO dependent on Lason that he can’t physically live without him. And even if Riki did successfully leaves what’s the chance of him being normal again 🥲. He’s already suffered so much that the only person to understand his suffering is Lason. The one person who abused his several times. He literally Wendy back to his abuser because in the end it was never gonna be right without him, hence stolkhalm syndrome. I know that Lason didn’t particularly understood what love meant but he love Riki in his own twisted way. He wanted Riki to love him back so he became obsessed. Yes, his love for Riki was out of obsession. He dreams that Riki would one day come back to him on his own accord. But my boi Riki is highly prideful until the very end when he finally lets go of his pride and dies with Lason. Such a tragic story. In no way did I find it romantic. Most of the time I tried to tell myself that Lason was isn’t a good person. He isn’t someone u should like. I just pity him and maybe hate him a little. Riki deserved better man! I’m sobbing. I understand! Even when I initially watched it for the first time, I knew something was different with their relationship (aside from the obvious S&M, of course) and the way Iason seemingly wanted Riki to think that his actions were his own but in reality he was just being played in Iason’s palm. In the end, Iason broke Riki. Riki broke Guy. Guy (quite literally) broke Iason just to get Riki back. Truly, Riki couldn’t move past Iason and and at the end of AnK, Iason was so happy when he knew that, finally, he had Riki completely, owned him, with only Iason beside him and Iason being the one thing on his mind, despite how morbid and dire their situation was (notice how the dialogue was mainly being said by Iason). That’s why I agree, I felt like he really deserves better too, maybe a life where him and Mimea ran away and had kids (you know how happy he was when he heard that Mimea wanted to bear his children), or a simple life on Ceres with Guy. As for Iason, I felt like initially he wanted Riki because he was a challenge - you know Iason, man could solve thousands of cases within a minute. Iason did admit that he fell for Riki, though the way he showed it was unhealthy and obsessive, playing with their power balance like a game. We can’t deny that Iason cared for Riki very much, it showed quite obviously, but it was toxic, stayed toxic, and couldn’t heal til the very end. They just accepted their fate. I love your take on their relationship/personalities! It’s been a decade or two yet Ai no Kusabi still hold a special place in my heart since it taught my a lot of things so seeing someone talk about it makes me ecstatic! 💟

It’s so disappointing. Mimea was also a victim too 😭😭. Anyways I’m glad with ur reply cause it seems we both share the same opinions about the ANK lore💖
Wow! I cried so bad when I saw the ending, like I found this anime and then do,e of the review said that they cried so bad at the ending, and then I watched and I understood why they cried so bad at the ending 😭
i wanted to know a lot more abour this entire society and how it works its so detailed. also i found Raouil to be a very ineresting scharacter who deserved a lot more of his own thing. its a shame no spin off have been made.
The novels are good and tell much more about this world. It explains things a but better and gives you a better understanding of their feelings and actions. You even feel sad for Kirie. Everyone was in love with Riki.
Raoul is literally my most favourite after Riki. I fell in love with him even more when I read the novels. He was literally the only sane blondie amidst the spoiled children blondies. Openly called their stupid behaviour out, specially Iason. He was such a true friend in a cruel dystopian, lonely world. He deserved so much better. I also love how he didn't torture Katze to death to get out information after Iason was dead. I love his character.
I read a bit of their first interaction in the novel. Riki was the one who initiated s3x because blondie was good looking.(Who offer their body after their pickpocket is pardon lol) After that because Riki is addicted to Blondie’s great s3x. Back when he worked in Apathia because being a pet in Eos is too boring, he feels s3x ally frustrated and thinks about Blondie when he’s alone by himself. He also used Mimea(the highest pedigree female pet) to test Blondie’s jealousy and stain his reputation. All in all, he have been loved and loved 3 people, but Blondie was what he craves for.
It's quite a toxic relationship yet only those who have been in one understand the complexity of the situation and find happiness in the dark -- and it seems like they never left the bubble of their own unique power struggle. It's a frustrating yet enamoring show/novel.
@@pandes9635 I was actually quite surprised that Riki actually craves for Blondie despite being his "pet". But both of them dosent really care about their statuses. If they really had nothing to hold them back, both will go far.
Oh man even after all these years i still fall for Iason 😅 He might be a cold hearted badass and kidnapper and raper but considering the establishment he was born into and his status as a high ranking elite I would say that Iason did his very best to keep Riki safe, well-fed and comfortable. And he eventually chose to die so that his love could live. ❤
Kaneto Shiozawa literally brought life to Iason's character. Besides the beautiful.. absolutely beautiful animation and character design, the voice acting was cherry on top. It suits him SO MUCH! Rest In Peace Kaneto. I hated Iason's voice in 2012 anime. Nothing can beat this one.
