Now that we're back, I want to say what I said the first time: I adore the sheer COMMITMENT of zooming in _every single time_ a character said "six years ago," "six minutes," etc.

I just wanna say Mizuki's voice actor is really good. Most voice actors when doing child voices oversell it or do a weird cheesy voice that doesnt even sound like any person, but with Mizuki she's really kind of deadpan, haughty and natural, with a tone like she's sort of tensing her face up, it's really believable

Holy shit, I think "Reaction time increases 3.6 times under 'certain conditions'" might be the funniest line in anything. It sounds like a joke RPG statistic on a Borderlands item. It makes it even funnier that I can't tell if it means he reacts 3.6 times faster, or if his actual reaction time is 3.6 times LONGER, as in, if it would take him 1s, in 'certain conditions', it takes him 3.6s, so is actually a debuff. Because it does say his reaction time INCREASES, not reaction speed, but reaction TIME. It is a common grammar issue in games, usually with "faster reload time" or something but this is the kind of series which would reveal it grandly later like "No no, read it carefully, reaction TIME! That's why you reacted slower!"

Funnily enough, after realizing that Iris and Ota were going to be prominent characters, I promptly decided to stop care about the mystery and just drop the game. This is even funnier because then I played the sequel and LOVED that one - which is so wild lmao

the piss sink bit always reminds me of this time when i was over at a family's place for a very large gathering and one of my cousins was suddenly very ill and needed to puke. to avoid making a mess, her quick thinking was just to puke in the sink and clean it up afterward, i mean it's better than everyone on the ground you might assume. but my grandma (the owner of the house) was absolutely *petrified*, I swear it was like she was witnessing bloody murder in that kitchen. that cousin is not allowed over ever again and she had to pay for a sink replacement 💀tensions were already high but this one moment was the last straw

Say what you will about this game. The jokes hit way more often than they miss. I think a good laugh is harder to find than one might think. Definitely improves the score for me

Lmao it’s not copium that AI somnium has a good story that’s legit better than most cringe anime stories we have nowadays. AI1 is one hell of a game and I’m glad he also thinks the same too

This game does not pull out comedy better than Ace Attorney There’s just one difference, we have very good voice acting (Date and Aiba in particular are killing it) This means it’s apparent to everyone when characters are just messing around and how much they’re committed to it. AA and AI comical writing is mostly on the same tier.

This game has an odd way of making me feel dread. It swings violently from blood and child abuse to goofy gags about anime breasts and porn mags. I spent like an hour just thinking about Iris getting her eye stabbed out and her psycho stalker friend who looks like a My Hero Academia reject. I think it's got a bit of a problem with tone, overall, though I do like it more than Zero Escape

I don't agree with Joseph on a lot of opinions, but I appreciate that he understands that Life is Strange 2 is the worst in the series by a huge margin. Makes me feel less crazy now that they announced the LiS1 sequel (from DeckNine instead of DONTNOD), and people are suddenly acting like LiS2 was even remotely good just so they can say that DONTNOD made better LiS titles.
