I do this already :D but a lot of people take that as an opportunity to get in front of me. I still try.

Keeping your distance is a good idea except that drivers in other lanes immediately fill that gap
@Psycherz
@Psycherz 5 лет назад
Seriously. But, I think it's still worth it. Any efforts to encourage more space and more elasticity of cars on the road will help, even with the maniacs that can't wait to use more gas to get 15 feet further than they'd be otherwise.

Keep the space but just barely not enough to fit another car, it drives people mad but it should work.

Some people leave too much of a distance which too can cause traffic jams.

Leave a safe distance and a jerk will run in front of you, and almost make you wreak. Dream on AI proponents.

If you're maintaining a safe distance, another car should be able to merge in without issue.

"Dream on AI proponents." It's coming whether you like it or not, idiot. Especially because dumb meatbags like you are incredibly inefficient, arrogant, and slow.

You guys do get the point of this, robot cars controlling (limiting) traffic.

AI is urgently needed on the roads near me. Too often you 20 cars will take off from the lights only for the next set of lights to go red just as you are 100m from them stopping all 20 cars. Govs want to improve the environment and allow the rpads to handle higher volumes of traffic will need to use AI to monitor and manage traffic to allow for cars to keep moving instead of getting every light red.

If you have ever watched the anime-movie "Summer Wars" (or even the Digimon movie "Our War Game"), the paradox of AI is a slippery slope if it can be hacked and exploited. However, what you said at the end is also necessary. Steps and things we can do already can help society or anyone in general if we keep up with what should be doing instead.

Can't agree more, part of the problem is that the lack of ownership of cars given autonomy becomes wide spread; the argument is : if they are self driven, then the next argument is why posses it if you only use it x% of the time ... hence now everyone is subject to a transportation vendor that you pay over, and over, and over... But being robbed silly for life isn't the problem but rather living spaces. While you can argue that parking spaces are "returned to the community" fact is, part of our living space is secured thanks to cars. Many startups began their life in garages (as well as laboratories, music groups, etc). This means that population dense areas will have even less space for themselves or between themselves as this is no longer a necessity. Sure, there's the fact that it is far to tempting to hack the system given how much return on investment that would give. But there have always been predators, but having people bombarded by commercials(just like AM, FM, and the internet; you have people held hostage to adverts ... again), segregated by means of zone access protocols (imagine a virtual gate at every point of the city with routes depending on travel plans), and sections of people packed worse than sardines (again no need for roads, parking spaces or garages so you can now enjoy living in a tiny box probably hearing your neighbors brushing their teeth quite clearly) is something that I just find hard to accept as progress in any way

That's why security is a top-notch priority in the age of AI and IoT. Don't ever let unwanted parties take control over this technology. Also, the programmer should be more wary of bugs in their program because of how devastating it would be if it accelerate at maximum speed instead of hitting the brake when faced with pedestrian.

only 7% improvement for AI smart lights; Thought that would be MUCH higher. Fuel reduction too, from reduced idling
@CMDRJakob
@CMDRJakob 10 месяцев назад
While not much higher at first look, it could be huge in massively populated cities, especially since traffic jams can be the start of other ones.

I honestly rather think we really like really really don't need to drive or commute as often as we have been. Gym, food, education, job, hobbies, contribution to the society and environment, movies, even some medical treatments, all of it can be done from your home or at max your neighborhood... Do you really think most of the drivers on the road are delivery drivers or ambulances? I don't get it what are people traveling for? Unless well they are actually there for traveling like tourism... Can someone please explain? I don't think I have a brain big enough to understand why people are commuting so much. I think one of the things that humans need to learn is when we hire people, we should hire them from the neighborhood, and if you need some special skill well they can direct from their home halfway across the globe or commute only in the most extreme cases of physical presence required. Guys, people have been controlling rovers on the moon, maybe even mars from their small little nothing special homes... Why the hell are we traveling still?? Can someone write a paper on that instead? I think traveling is an outdated technology.

Driving is like life; it's not about the journey, it's about the destination.
