What a captivating tale. We watched this entire series with family. My mother was quite amazed to hear about octogenarian couple on Shipton's trail. I so wish we could get this book in India. The K2 North face picture was breathtaking.
Have really enjoyed this series. These barren mountains hold a great fascination for me, probably why I try to escape to them whenever possible. Bernier, Younghusband and Shipton are storied names, and for you to have followed in their footsteps is no nean feat. Kudos, sir.
The Shimshali's claim the land till Shaksgam belongs to them as their ancestors used this piece of land for grazing and Qaratang. Last year some of the shepherds reached the Shaksgam river, the Chinese took them to Kashgar and later released them. It is true that Pakistan ceded a big part of Hunza to China.
Sir! What an epic tale. A modern day Odyssey. Admire your courage and resolve to overcome all the bureaucratic and other obstscles. I understand that the video series is just a glimpse of the whole expedition but still so meticulous and gripping. I have the book on my table and it's next on my list! Bless you, Salman saheb.
Very glad to know that. But people in Pakistan do not wish to read anything substantive. Their minds have sadly been crippled by a sham Urdu "safar roznamcha nigar". They believe that without the spice of a woman falling in love with the writer on some glacier, the book has no meaning.
Great episode Sir, I wish India & Pakistan could be friends so that we could visit you in Lahore or you could visit us in India, but thanks to RU-vid & Social Media atleast we can follow you and listen to your Stories... 🙏
A POEM You were the most beautiful man on earth the day when you reached ARGHAIL PASS and posed for the photo then You became A LORD The god of the Braves!
This is probably the 90th time I’m watching the apricot road to Yarkand series. Watching from Australia. Salman sahb I would really love to buy the English version of the book. Can the book be delivered to Australia ? I would be happy to pay for the price of the book and the delivery costs to Australia ?
Salam sir I read a comment on Twitter from you about monsoon winds They have specific names in Punjabi Plz enlighten me on that subject Desi names of winds and their directions Greatfull
Madam, the east wind that brings the summer monsoon to our part of the subcontinent is called Poorva from Poorab or east. The other wind blowing when the Poorva dies is called Pachhuva from Pachham or west.
Hi, I am sorry couldn't resist adding a comment since I am in Karachi and connected to the sea. The study of winds is a way of life as every wind bring a different effect to the life. Briefly there Koss the east wind, Shamal the westerly, Siarra the north and Kamai the southern wind. What it does to the life style, one needs a few pages atleast to cover.
There is a book PAKISTAN's FOREIGN POLICY by S.M BURK. On The border settlement accord between Pak China, he says Pakistan was a bit timid because of China's overwhelming victory over India. The boundary Comissioner of Pakistan just agreed upon the markings on maps by the Chinese. Therefore, Pakistan ceded a big chunk of platue to China. The chinese had given a simple logic that the water shed points would be the border line. All rivers flowing to south to Pakistan and rivers flowing towards China for China. 😂
