Sir It's one of the best episode on your channel other than topic history. Salute to your passion , love and knowledge for trees. Its a strong message for the people of subcontinent. Bahut bahut Sadhuvaad 🙏🙏
Ever since you have been advocating for Local trees in your columns. i removed the kulfi trees (ulta ashkok) and planted Mango , Cheeko k, and Fig Trees. Now they are fully grown with such a beautiful shade in summers and fruits for the birds .
Wah Salman sb dil khush kr dya iss video ko bna k. Mai bhee bohat dukhi hota hoon palm aur dosray alien darakhton ko apnay aas paas dekh k. I wish koi inn jahil authorities ko aqal daay
I got emotional while watching this video Sir. I faced a very similar situation while I was expanding my restaurant, in the middle of dining area there are two massive old trees. Everyone including my partners thought it’s a no brainer that we can get those removed. But I resisted, put in money from my own pocket to find a solution where the trees still stand through the middle of proper roof. Required some investment and clever engineering, but it’s a small investment that eventually will help us all. I will share the photos with you….
Thank you very much Mr Sharma. You are a very good man. May you be blessed. I would appreciate those photos. If you are on Twitter, kindly post them there and tag me. Thank you very much and thank you for being a tree lover.
I believe that there's a quaint and peculiar sense of aesthetic sense in people of this Bar e Sagheer. In my house, my parents had a problem with the dry leaves of Mangoes and Neem trees. I protested and put my foot down but all in vain. They ultimately went ahead with the concretization of that entire area with trees removed. The incident still hurts a lot.
Dukhti ruug pe haath rakha aap ne Bilkul sochi samjhi sazish h karachi aur pakistan m ye trees lagane ki . On point topic Great .thanks for hi lighting such topic .
Dear Salman a very true and rather we called it fact you told us, in 1990 i was to appear in my exams at 1 pm in thr month of may so you can understand the level of temperature while i was on foot when i pass through a neem tree what a coolness i got from this tree i can not forget till this day.
Beautiful episode. May the good sense prevail in people. However, you are right about India. We are recognizing the importance of greenery. I realized that we are sensitive about our local trees. Even kids are taught so culturally and in schools here. But Sufeda tree is a common sight in our part of Panjab too. And it truly pains us people who know a thing of two about how Eucalyptus tree is not meant for the Indian soil. Tey Firangi plants are more like status symbols for wannabe folks, who care less about environment and more about their statuses and pseudo love for 'mother-earth'. Sigh!
I notice that here in Canada when Pakistanis buy a house, the first thing they try to do is get rid of the trees in front of the house and in the backyard. Although it’s against the law. They try to find loopholes and get rid of trees. I have noticed the same in friends from across the border. Although the house looks 10x better with trees. My nani used to say, darakht hue te parda rehnda ae.
Such a moving story. I often have this argument with my mom when my mom asks me to trim huge trees outside our house as they hinder sunlight (as per her) in winters. I had to put my foot down and explain to her. I can't forget the lovely amaltash trees which lined our house at Amritsar. I hope people will learn from this episode and forgo their obsession with foreign plants.
I suspected you two were siblings. So, now I know! I have an amaltas in our backyard. It's 22 years old and stands nearly 10 metres tall. Its flowers and fragrance are a delight when summer begins.
Very good episode. Trees have also right to live on this planet . We are all part of this nature, connected with each other. Essential to maintain balance.
Sir, I love this episode you and understand the pain in your voice. You remind me of Ardeshir Cowasjee and his love for trees, till the day he died, called for making Mazar-e-Quaid a tree garden like Hyde Park in London and Central Park in New York City but nobody listened
True that about Mr Cowasjee. I know I too will die without making any difference to this country. But I will have the satisfaction, as indeed Mr C did too, that I did not give up.
I must meet your uncle and other gents from that side of the family, Ms Pathak. It will be such a pleasure. Who knows if we are kinsmen from a very distant past.
Another great episode. In Parts of India , cutting coconut trees, banyan trees and pipal trees (there are more) is almost a cultural crime/taboo. People who don’t have big enough plots to put trees inside their homes , take up the responsibility of growing , nurturing and maintaining the trees on the sidewalks. Neem is considered very good to have near your house , we use the leaves and the small seeds for religious and medicinal uses. All houses have a tulsi shrub. Having mangoes , bananas, papayas, etc are a bonus. Even in the cities we have people who grow curry leaves and chillies in their homes. Ye dharti humari dharohar hai , we need to enjoy it , nurture it and preserve it for the coming generations. I saw an episode in which the Rana of amarkot was explaining how they maintain their flora and fauna. Please keep it going sir.
Pakistanis need to get wise to what we are doing to our environment by planting trees like conocarpus, which has a small biomass, and other species like palm tree.
@@salmanrashid8880 sir, with wise people like you , I’m hopeful 🙏🏾. Maybe the instinct within us to protect our environment is also an evolutionary trait (that facilitates long term survival of the species). I wish our neighbors good luck in this endeavor. They must realize , destroying local flora and fauna is going to hurt them the most. On a different note, we also might lose our asiatic lions, as their range is too small now and their populations will eventually lack genetic variation.
You are true .Basic psyche is derived from the fact that we don't care and the prime responsibility is entrusted to Malis who obviously due to their kamchori are more happy with cono, ficus .I have jaman tree and mango tree in the courtyard and a chikoo tree in my backyard. One day my neighbour who is a doctor met me pointed that fruit trees are of no use as the fruit it produces is less as compared to carecwhichbit requires for a moment Iwas dismayed over my selection but then it struck me that oxygen these trees produce is priceless gift as compared to care these require.
We are same, a 'budha' ( old man) his psychology, son of him who convince him, a old lady, our 'desi' tree, we share everything common, then why we are enemy. We should not 🙏🙏
Sir, bus afsoos he kiya ja sakta hai. Main tu disappoint ho gaya hon pakistan say. Allah app kay Liya asania karain. Asay he wisdom ki batain batatay rahain. Respect n more power to you.
A very educative and enlightening video. Out here in India too, people have a fascination for foreign trees and plants. Luckily the local authorities in my area are on an overdrive to plants desi trees like neem and peepal in barren and open public spaces. I had been following on Twitter for long and now a privilege to follow you on RU-vid.
Great show Sir, I too passionately love trees and we were always taught to cherish trees in our school in Dehradun, we also used to undertake tree plantation drives on a barren, mined out small hill nearby. Uttarakhand, the hill state where Dehradun is located, was also famous for the 'Chipko' movement, where hill women chained themselves to trees to save them from being felled. Fortunately, in India our Desi varieties flourish although I did recently see a new house being made in Chandigarh in whose boundary Palm trees were idiotically being planted - i think the Sikh gentleman whose house it was, worked in Dubai.
Zindabad! If you have room try neem for further cooling. And if still room, pilken. In the case of pilken, you might have difficulty getting a sapling and I can help.
What a beautiful & educative episode on the environment 😍. Absolutely loved it. Yes, its very unfortunate that bio-security is treated with contempt & people with no-brains introduced the Eucalyptus and Conocarpus in Pakistan, leading to lowering/exhausting of the water-table in areas. Recently I saw, that the Government of Sindh planted rows of Neem trees on both sides of the M-9 motorway which is a relief, as earlier some areas were earlier planted with Cornocorpus. My house in Karachi had this Sohanjana, Bair, Keekar(babuul in Urdu & Babùùr in Sindhi), Jamun, Neem & Siris (Albiza Lebbeck) locally called Sarhein in Sindhi. All these trees were cut down by DHA morons in my absence from Pakistan, as DHA felt they were hindering traffic! Desi Tree-cutting should be declared a crime in Pakistan except for Eucalyptus/Cornocorpus, in which people should be paid/rewarded. Bio-security should be taken at the highest level with no plants coming in from abroad. Eucalyptus or the gumtree, as is known locally in Australia & known as the widow-maker in California because its branches collapse without warning on people in the forests is a tree, which due to its oily content burns & is the main source of concern in Australia and California for the wild-fires. This tree shouldn't be allowed in our water-starved regions. Really appreciate your episode and information shared. Keep it up, Salman sb. People like you are Pakistan’s real asset.
Whatever else others may say, I have to say one thing about Asif Zardari: it is he who insists on planting the blessed neem tree. Sindh owes much to him. The neem trees on NH-5 between Karachi and Thatta are also because of his personal intervention. Ditto everywhere in Naushehro Feroz.
Two things are missing you should have shown the pictures of those trees which must be grown and which should not be grown explaining one by one of its merits and demerits. The statement was too long nobody has time to watch cut it short in future not more than fifteens minutes in any case . Thanks for your efforts in this regard it is appreciated keep it up.
In Karachi everyone knows the conocarpus poison was imported by Mustafa Kamal. Another politician's wife might have been his partner. They are all poorly educated and ill-informed.
One thing more that we and the Indians both are trying to do is make the desert green, jo green hy os desert kar do desert ko green kardo. Registan to Registan rehnay du bhai.
That is exactly what I told the foolish Rangers subedar in Rann of Katch where they were foolishly planting thousands of concocarpus. If nothing grows there, that is the way Nature wants it. They will destroy the natural ecology of the Rann.
Kitne jahalat ka muqaam .yahaan tau chotay bache bhi jante hain ke darakt hamare phepre hein, trees are out lungs.totli zaban mein mein they help us breathe.
In India U cant Cut the Tree 🌲. Even on Commercial space markets made by Government Places keep Vacant wherever Tree 🌴 is standing. Even in Many Buildings ppl give space to Trees 😮
