“Low Impact” Aikido is designed to teach any beginner or veteran
student the foundation and advanced application of this system of
self defense. Instead of resulting in a fall or diving roll, this approach
allows the practitioner the opportunity to explore technique without
the rigors of the impact sustained in the traditional style of practice.
At times in training, taking ukemi (throws, rolls, and falls) is not
practical and can even be contraindicated. Low Impact Aikido is
“restorative”. Every movement is designed to build core strength and
enhance the sense of balance in the student while fostering a
common sense approach to self defense. The power of Low Impact
Aikido must not be underestimated by even the most advanced
student.
