Brilliant take, nobody could’ve come up with that one.. remove their best player, and they’d be worse. You should be awarded an nba team and you can call them the sour grapes! I am curious if his minute restrictions were factored into your sour grapes? Wait, next you’ll tell us Pop and Phil Jackson wouldn’t have been as good of coaches without their players, like how all the other teams and coaches won games, without their players

the 2nd year rookie has been an issue way before Ben Simmons. Happened with Blake Griffin. But i agree with you, a second year player been in the coaching/NBA environment for a full season vs true rookies not having a full year in a NBA system. More than just being on the floor, 2nd year 'Rookies' have a whole year within a NBA level coaching, trainers, film study, etc.. al of it is NBA level experience

Chet being out for one year, and now competing for ROY is like redshirting in college. You get the first year to put on muscle and learn plays, etc. If the NBA wants they can redshirt players and have them compete the second year. This will allow teams to play first year players in G-League and then compete for RoY in their second year. Borderline players can have a better chance at RoY and teams will enjoy more media, etc.

I’m late to this but the fact you compared that to redshirting in college shows you have no idea wtf you talking about. That is not at all the same. If you’re in the NFL or NBA… if you get injured during your rookie season… you’re on your 2nd year of your rookie contract the next year. Comparing it to redshirting is dumb bro bc redshirting means you’re voluntarily inactive for the maximum of 5 games as an injury sub. Arch Manning is a redshirt freshman this year. That means he was at Texas for one year already but due to redshirt he is not classified as a true freshman. That’s why when players on the football field make a great play and the announcer says “and he’s a TRUE freshman” that means it’s their first year… not their second year. As a redshirt that year still counts. That’s why Arch has stats his redshirt year. Meaning he’s not a freshman. You can’t be a freshman multiple times in the same college. That makes no sense. Highschool is the only time you can be a freshman multiple times if you failed. Chet being able to go for ROY is lame. Same as Blake Griffin and all the others.
