Trip from Girvan to Ailsa Craig which sits approx. 10 miles off the coast of South West Scotland in the Firth of Clyde. Ailsa Craig is a bird sanctuary but more famous for its granite which is used to make ice curling stones. These is also a little footage of a basking shark seen on the journey back from the island.

I visited Scotland and stayed in Ayr almost 3 months in 2008. This is 1 of 2 places I really wanted to see but didn't. I even considered splitting my time between the US and Scotland but sadly, I will probably never make it back across the pond. Scotland is a very beautiful place. Thanks for sharing this video.

Hopefully you'll get back one day and get to visit it at some point. I see it (from a distance) most days but only been over once.

9panther I wish but It's no longer financially possible. I had the good fortune of time and money and a good friend to stay with who showed me around all the way north to Ft William, Edinburgh, and south to Birmingham to see my friends there. It was an amazing trip! We are no longer friends since he got married but if I ever get the opportunity, I will be back. I remember seeing Arran covered in snow from a distance one clear day. It was so pretty. Also saw some of the biggest snowflakes the day I was packing to come home. It was really strange because I was awake at sunrise, the sea birds were flying above the River Ayr, and then a little later it started snowing, covered the ground then hours after that you could never even tell it had snowed. It was absolutely beautiful coming down and I was like a kid out taking pictures of it. I was told it was very uncommon to snow because of Ayr being at the salt water and sea.

I'd love to go here ,I get goosebumps watching videos like yours 😍 thank you for sharing ❤little train track is cute to think a train ran there once ? Or am I wrong lol

Thank you so much for your kind comments. The track would have been used in the past to move the granite to the boat to take it to the mainland. With heavy machinery now available, the track is now redundant but nice to see it’s been left as part of the islands heritage. Probably not a train as such but more likely horse drawn carts.

I love Boys In 2008, I spent an evening running around Girvan taking night photos when I visited Scotland. I even went to an arcade there. I stayed for almost 3 months in Ayr.

Best heading in the summer months and yeh you can arrange to get a boat over from Girvan. If you google it you should find a couple of numbers. Basically it's a small fishing boat that takes maybe a dozen over at a time. Take the drone, you'll get brilliant footage :)

The Highland/shortbread tin tartan music doesn't feel appropriate for the footage somehow, Ailsa Craig being part of the lowlands.

Apparently today this island is for sale, as long as your name isn't Trump and you've got $1.5 million
