I felt like having a bit of fun for this video, so I decided to play a couple of tanks that don't require a ton of aiming to do well in. The Centurion AVRE and FV4005 have the largest caliber guns in the War Thunder, and fire huge high explosive squash head (HESH) rounds. This means that you don't really have to aim all that much. I do wish that the HESH rounds were a bit more consistent, but that has more to do with volumetric than anything else. Hopefully Gaijin fixes that soon.

The AVRE is the single best premium I have bought in the game regardless of tier. The amount of fun I have had in it warms my soul. It is also great for grinding out the British tech tree up until its rank. Advice: It is a close-range brawler, if you get the first shot off you will win the fight. Try to engage in 1v1 fights only, and hide when you need to reload.

What do you mean close range? The AVRE is one of the best long range platforms in the game. Just aim three miles above whatever you’re firing at

Despite being developed to counter IS-2, 3, etc. HESH ironically seems like an ideal shell for D-25 itself ie for armament of IS-2/3.

A rare treat to see Spookston play the Brits, even if it's only the meme vehicles! AVRE is definitely worth it when on sale. Btw the Tortoise could be a good idea for a video (6.7 Britain same as the FV4005) it's one of my favs and basically a meme with its great armour and decent gun, plus it just looks hilarious trundling across the battlefield.

6.7 Britain is so meme-y lol. I don't play it super often, as I'm trying to finish grinding out the monster of tanks at 8.0 and 8.3, but having the doom barn, armor wall, and Battlebus with an ATGM is pretty fun

I once had a shell from the FV4005 pass through the engine of an enemy tank and exit the other side. It exploded on the wall right next to the tank and dealt no damage. Needless to say I don't play this game anymore.

How do you feel about the Churchill AVRE and the StuG IV being in the game? A StuG with a pigsnout mantel and 360 degree roof mounted mg would be awesome and another low tier besh launcher aswell

I woudk rather have the stug iii g late production than the stug iv. It has the pigsnout mattlet and remote machinegun. But it also has a co-axe mg and was built in larger numbers.

Rarity of a vehicle should not determine its presence in war thunder as there's plenty of unique one offs and rare tanks, Sturer Emil, the Super Pershing, half the American heavy line, Jagdtiger, and Jagdpanther just to name a few.

You should play the T54e1, that thing has a 5 sec autoloader which can fire both heat and apds which are pretty accurate

That first shot against the IS-2 wouldn't've killed it if not for the fuel exploding. No ammo rack is damaged and HESH doesn't trigger overpressure anymore. If he manages to overpressure a tank with the HESH I'm gonna scream Update, he did, I hate this game so much, I should a Leopard 1 directly in the side with the FV4005 and didn't even damage it, let alone overpressure. I got a non-pen. And then spookston can miss a target with the smaller AVRE shell and overpressure it

I am actively a gunner, and I can tell you for certain that you don't really aim in real life, or at least not to the level of precision as in WT. There isn't even such a thing as actively attempting to hit the left of right side of the turret. You aim for centre of mass, and you hope the wind conditions are right / the powder is the right temperature / the air pressure is just right / the canon isn't overheated / your sweat isn't distorting your vision / the optics are calibrated correctly / there won't be an earthquake in the next 3 seconds / the enemy won't hit the breaks suddenly... and MAYBE then you will hit somewhere in the proximity of your target.

Jokes aside, just imagine for a second that it's NOT an assault gun(which it isn't), but instead SPG like Paladin or MSTA. Are those smaller and better armored? No, it's not solely a tank destroyer either. That role was supposed to be filled by several vehicles from other niches capable of filling this role. For example Conqueror was heavy tank designed to counter soviet armor. Was it a tank hunter?

@@TheArklyte It was a test bed for the gun. Wasn't supposed to actually be used in combat. It's on the exit road of the Bovington Tank Museum and it's on an incorrect hull if I recall correctly so don't take my word for that.

@@shukes4645 some things kinda come back naturally but the low velocity doesnt exactly lol. I can return to the tiger 2 and snipe at 1.2km but coming back to the AVRE or recoilless rifle can be tough. O have 3k hours in so I've got most of it I think

The FV4005 might not be particularly hard to hit with, but considering the "12 round" capacity and "entirety of the round" reload speed, I feel like taking some time to ensure you don't miss is pretty important

The dozer blades in this game are mostly for aesthestics. All you have to do is either ram the building head on or press A or D to turn into it (basically just position yourself parallel to a house and turn your front into the wall. Chances are it'll do some funky shit and its gonna crumbled apart)

@@blu5021 I recommend using the rangefinder and distance control things, I set the distance control up exclusively for a better time with the AVRE and it helps sooooo much
