@@CC2Cents_ thank you. Joe Tex died of unusual death he was found under water in his pool but was revived in the hospital. A week ltr he had heart attack. Hes legend along with Jackie Wilson and James Brown Every single was hit from 1965 to 1978. Sadlley this was his last record charted

Got to tell you this song was a hit in Australia in 77. It was all in fun, people saw the funny side of things. I was only 11 but kids my age loved this song and it was hilarious! The world today is way too serious. It was classic disco!!!!

Back in my day (haven't heard this song in 40 years!!!) it was not insulting because it was a fun and funky song!!! He was tellin' the truth!!! He just couldn't handle that!! Now I had big boned women in my family and they were BUMPIN' to this!! No shame! No shame! It was a sight to see! But no, this was good, grovvin' stuff back then.

There's also a hidden meaning to the song according to Tex. The big fat woman represents America and we are the ones getting knocked down. I loved Joe Tex. He was a clever songwriter and performer. He actually wrote songs from the guitar but rarely played it onstage.

I remember the 'bump' dance craze and this song back around '74. It was promoted in many places but led to dislocated hips and other lumbar injuries. I think Joe is just expressing his anxiety, and suffered trauma from a bad dance night experience.

It was always a special treat when Joe Tex was on Soul Train!!! "Ain't Gone Bump..." was made all in good fun. The woman dancing on stage with him was part of the act, choreography if you will!!! She wasn't one of the Soul Train dancers.

As I recall those days, this song made everyone laugh, no matter your size or your race. Joe Tex was a big time star and an entertainer who sold millions of records. About ten years before this he had a hit record with “Skinny Legs and all” about women with skinny legs. When that song came in the radio every skinny-legged girl or woman jumped up and started shaking.

First of all, you're pretty like Chaka khan! Joe Tex is one of the greatest soul singers of the 1950s - 1970s. Joe always puts a sense of humor into his songs, he also made a song called "Skinny Legs and All." Please listen to his song "Tell me right now" it will make you cry... he is sensitive in that song. and "You got what it takes " l know about Joe Tex from the parents... l saw him in person at the Apollo Theater in Harlem in 1968... l saw many star performers!

This such a cool fun song, and Joe Tex can dance. Problem is the world is too sensitive today for a song like this due to social media making everything a big deal. Plus, with all the preservatives and crap they pump into food today to stay on shelves longer, more people then ever before are on the plus size. I created this whole story based off of this song. Like, I'm imagining some dude with a huge fro (or Jerry Curl) just dancing around minding his won business, when all of a sudden a thick woman shows up and just wipes the floor with him. By the end of the song, we flash forward to him sitting in a wheelchair with a bitter scowl on his face. He's now married to the big fat woman, and has 4-5 kids jumping around. I think it could be cute, and with the right curves and proportions, they can make the woman just so sexy. Specifically when he says "Ya done broke my hip...Ya done broke my hip." I'm just imagining him sitting at a table trying to argue with the woman as she keeps trying to pull him in for a dance.

No, it's what is known as a novelty song, and yes in today's climate it would be seen as offensive to some people. This song was written and sung during a time when disco was king and a song about a disco duck was at the top of the charts. It was a time when life was a lot more fun, and people could laugh and be silly, as compared to now when it's the exact opposite.

I really think there's a deeper in meaning to the song. I really believe that Joe is trying to break that stereotype of how woman should look like, being skinny and perfect and that big women can just as easily break men's heart than any other woman. At least that's how I viewed the song

@cc2cents That video used footage of Joe Tex's performance from a 1977 episode of ''Soul Train''. I'm a big ''Joe Tex'' fan. But you're 100% correct! Over all it's not a bad song. But there is just no way a song with this kind of content and subject matter...Would be able to go over in this day and age. It would be deemed as (politically incorrect). There are a lot of great classic pop songs from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Which lyrically would be consider PIC or inappropriate for today's standards. There is one particular song that comes to mind. And that the 1960 hit song "You're Sixteen" by Johnny Burnette. Can you imagine a grown man singing a love song to an under age girl in the year 2023? YUK!!🤢
