"What veterinary school did you get kicked out of before you decided to become a witch doctor?" I've totally heard that used before. It was fantastic.

I've seen a ton of RU-vid videos but as a practiing Ob/Gyn this is, hands down, my favorite!

Best XTRANORMAL on RU-vid! I've watched this a hundred times and it still cracks me up. Being an Obstetrician, sadly have seen this in my very own ED. KUDOS KUDOS KUDOS TO YOU!

I've had this conversation as a ground medic at regional hospitals. Patient in V tach, so the MD gave him Adenosine -- not even fast push. Called us from the other side of the county to take him to a real hospital. After we cardioverted him in the truck, that is. Walk into another ER to drop off low acuity patient. Pit boss pacing at nursing station, clammy and pale, wringing hands. Look over, there's a patient in a room whose 02 sats are in the low 70s and falling. "Sir, I'm boarded in this county, let me tube him." "No, I've paged the anesthesiologist, she's on her way." Two more attempts to get him to allow me to tube the dying man, rejected. Walk out, see the anesthesiologist pulling up in her car.

I found this video when I first started in nursing school and at the time it was funny as all hell. Now after a decade of hospital experience it’s still funny but I have a whole lot of serious questions.

Sadly, this is only a slight exaggeration of reality. Yes there are ER doctors that are this clueless. and medics and nurses as well

Biggest take away from this video. Always do a comprehensive reassessment. The MD was using Old info to make new decisions rather than current observations. On another note I'm a medic and have work in hospital, 911 and now Air medical. This video would have been way better with out all the 4 letter words at the end. I have made mistakes and seem many mistakes. This was very funny and even inspired me to make some of these type videos to help with FPC study material. The degradation of the MD at the end was more than a little much.

Actually, in the world of flight medicine, doctors usually do have to explain themselves in this much detail, especially since the flight crew consists of an RN and a paramedic and the scope of practice of the crew is that of an emergency medicine resident.

As a physician (not ER), I can say that many medics and nurses are very professional but unfortunately there is a large population of them that are over-reachers. Like when you teach your teen to drive and then after 2 weeks they know everything. The most dangerous kind of stupid is the stupid where you don't know what you don't know. Good luck playing ER resident.

+sager153 Thank you for making my point. Complex logic and reason are not something that will come to you on an adrenaline rush. I said I was not an ER residency trained MD. I am however an ARMY veteran, family practice physician with 2 combat tours as a Battalion Surgeon with an Infantry division, ATLS trained, and can hold my own with an ET or chest tube with any ER docs/flight medics. Incidentally I was certified as an EMT in my spare time in college. I won't say I have walked your walk but I have worked with your kind and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I have worked with the best nurses and medics there are. I think they would all agree your enthusiasm for your trade is admirable but your execution reveals you to be a TURD. Don't hurt anyone now. As a primary care physician my knowledge base is different than a specialist or super-specialist or even many of the technicians I work with. Most of them are all going to have a deeper understanding of their fields. I rely heavily on them all. I appreciate their efforts and I hear too that none want (or could do in most cases) my job. I too have bounced ideas to the specialists I work with and sometimes plain out caught errors/mistakes but not once did feel that I was the superior being. These are MY patients they are helping. I don't believe I will have imparted any usable wisdom here to you that you don't already know. Good luck being "that guy."

"No flight crew in there (sic) right mind would tell an MD this or they would never be called again. It becomes so absurd at some point we have to make fun of it or go crazy!" Do you say everything you might like to say? This seems to be an expression of what the person would like to say.

As a 14 year flight nurse... yes this is an exaggeration and yes we’d never say anything like this to an ER doc BUT... I’ve been in some situations where I certainly had some similar thoughts and was glad to get the patient OUTTA there! There are stupid doctors just like there are stupid nurses, paramedics and EMTs.

If I was a flight medic, I'm sure I'd find this funny. I do chuckle when I hear some of the stories of less than ideal care being provided by doctors who need to punt the patient to a tertiary care center. But as an Emergency Physician and EMS medical director... hmmm... Some of the whacked out quotes are humerus, but the vent by the "medic"? Even in this venue is unprofessional. Please tell me you don't work in my area.
@davidgarrard2491
@davidgarrard2491 11 лет назад
Curious which program or city you work for? Obvious with your attitude towards medics it must be an RN/RN program if you are even with a flight team. It's a team approach and you respect the skills that your team mate brings to the table whether RT, EMT-P, or another RN. As for never questioning a doc, that's a poor excuse for a clinician. That's like a solder saying I just followed orders and shot the man. A good clinician asks questions! continued......

I find it interesting someone that has been to a junior college for 1 year has the audacity to call a Doctor stupid. Most medics I have seen would fail the MCAT miserably.

Kevin Meiser I was an EMT before I became a doc. In the EMS world we have a tendency to think we know it all but once you go through the ringer dinger of med school and residency you really come to appreciate how much you didn’t know before. I remember once as an EMT, we had an MVA patient who we boarded and put on c collar precautions because the patient lost consciousness. However, the doc was like everything is fine and took off the collar and let the patient walk without any imaging. I was absolutely furious because as an EMT they always taught us c spine precautions. However, knowing what I know now, everything the doc did was a hundred percent correct even though it didn’t follow the algorithm we are taught as an EMT.

Awfully narcissistic of you. I hope your're a physician yourself, because no matter how great and smart you think you are, if your're working prehospitally as a medic or emt or firefighter, your're answering to a medical director, the street is where we shine, and when your're in a doctors world which is the hospital, you may wanna turn down the cocky know it all shit. Know your place in the food chain that of course requires a little humility on your part. Name calling seems a bit juvenile. Up your professionalism game sir. Plus in my 14 years as a paramedic for FDNY, i've never had a doctor that was that off point and oblivious with treatment and dx.
