I have this rifle ,worth every penny . I also had a laminated Ultimate Sporter in .22 ,but this regulated version in .177 is fantastic . very accurate and I love the walnut / black soft touch look .👍😃

What Velocitys are you getting from the lightest 177 pelet and the heavyset 177 pellet. Can you post your velocity numbers here please, Do you have a chrony. Can you include your pellet weights please. Take 5 shots of each and let me know your average, My 510r behaves very strange with the light and heavy. Thanks in advance.

Back in the mid to late 60s.... you had cross check stippling and coal face stippling... The gun you reviewed here has coal face stippling... Sadly, the name "coal face" has died out for some reason... although I still use it! This shows my age! I haven't been into air rifles for many many years... but you have fanned the flames of interest once again chap... Boy has air gunning changed over the last 50yrs... Frank...

I bought an Air Arms s410 .22 many years back from pyramyd air as a refurb for about $600. It's a bolt action and is still the most consistent airgun I own. Even without a regulator. Over 30 ft/lbs of energy and dime size groups at 30 yds. Super quiet, basement and backyard friendly and just a really pretty example of an airgun! I won't sell it anytime soon!

I absolutely love the look of this rifle. I can vouch for the accuracy too. My old s410 tdr was a beast. I’m now BSA clx FTW.

I fitted a lane reg to my s510 in 1.77 sub 12ftp. I get over 100 shots with little to no drop in the power curve. Also fitted a anti bounce hammer. And also a extra gauge at the front. I can see tank pressure and reged pressure!! Fit a lane reg i would recommend it!!

I gulped at the price and then remembered that I’d spent £1200 on an iPhone last month without even blinking. Many people do just the same and with interest free credit on offer, what’s not to like. It’s also supporting English manufacturing 👍

I waited for this gun, couldn't wait any longer, and so bought a R10 instead. Wasn't looking for the latter, but tried one and the stock is a nice fit for me. So it all worked out in the end. I am now waiting to see if AA produce a HFT version

Great vid I own one my self but laminate very accurate worth every penny and those who say about safety on trigger it’s fine cock and shoot simple. Best hunting rifle in my opinion

Yea I have just bought the un regged laminate version. The black cheek piece doesn’t do it for me at all. I would have much rather have had a full walnut stock or the laminated as long as it matched. I wonder how easy it is to retrofit a regulator? The extra 20+ shots is quite appealing to me, although not totally necessary 👍

Is air arms willing to offer a regulator to those of us who have already spent the money on an ultimate sporter...a brand loyalty upgrade that customers can pay for so our ultimate sporters and still remain ultimate.

Yeah, I don't care for the black cheek piece either, but in one of the shot show videos the rep (Sheila?) mentioned that it doesn't get cold. The latest version, I believe, comes with sling studs and m-lok rails for mounting a bipod which is great for a rifle targeted at hunters. I wish the rest of the industry would pay attention would catch to Air Arms on this. Does Air Arms have a history of problems with their regulators? I like that Andy pointed out what he did not like (safety on trigger). Not sure if it was an auto-safety but I really hate the safety on my HW80. It is always in the way, and you cannot reengage it when you need it.

Your review was one of the things that convinced me to make the Air Arms S510R my first pcp air rifle. Can you offer any advice on the filler fitting? Surprisingly, the brass fitting doesn't have a rubber washer on the threaded end. Should I fit one - or does it's absence indicate it's not needed?

It's regulated you can use the max cylinder pressure to get more shots. The regulator takes care of the shot to shot performance otherwise it's not doing its job.

Great Airgun reviews Andy. Do you think you will be able soon to review the SMK PR900W PCP in .177 cal as I know it had slot of teething problems at launch ,ie barrel droop, misaligned breech and bolt, rough barrel crown ,and mags that keep working loose as screw doesn't hold. Just wondered if these probs have now been ironed out as i fancy buying one if ok. Keep up the good work.

My 177, just a few years old, works very well and easy to get decent consistent accuracy (under 1/2" 10 shot groups) up to the ranges I have had chance to use it (~25m). I too would be interested in Andy's take on it still.

Got me one month ago all black in .177 gun is a killer! I got nothing bad to say, it is lot a $ but you get what you pay for. It is powerful for .177 super acurate, smood cocking action. What else yea some1 sad something that is tuned for light pellet not true been using mostly 10.34 jbs and aa and it loves am also tried 13.43 and its taring so far 25 squirrels 1 racoon 1 skunk. Again super acurate kills i got 35 to 45 yards plenty pover to take skunk racoon head shoots thay die on spot. All and all super quality acurate rifle.

Bought one of these recently and all I can say is wow. Accuracy is superb. Made better with the Hawke Sidewinder 8x32x56 20x Mil Dot. Minimal adjustments made on the trigger but the stock was adjusted and has made a lovely comfortable feel to an already impressive rifle.

@@robertmitchell9415 sorry Robert only seen this now, I went with a HW110 which broke my heart just got only 300 pellets through it in 6 months, sent it back for a refund and bought a FX Wildcat compact mk3, absolutely fantastic rifle, have over 50,000 pellets through it with no issues and its lazer accurate to 100meters +. Im limited what i can buy here in southern Ireland as no one really stocks them and if they break they have to be sent to the uk for repair, it can take up to 3-4 months for a repair with all the paperwork that’s involved, thats why i went with the fx because they have full breakbown videos on their you tube channel so i can do repairs myself, same reason I went with a yong heng compressors.

Run a bisley magnum through it see what the fps is then. Nice gun but tuned to a very light pellet,

I’ve had my brand new S510 Ultimate Sporter R (in soft touch black) for around 5 weeks. For 3 weeks of that its been back at Air Arms being repaired. Suspected faulty regulator as the first 4 shots take a dive on every mag. During the short time that I had it, I put just over 1000 pellets through it. Fantastic weight and handling, sublime trigger and cocking action, super accurate, whisper quiet…. really pleased with it. Just wondering when I’m actually going to see it again as the gun shop have no idea when it is going to be returned. I was originally looking at the FX Wildcat MKIII but I was advised against it due to it ‘apparently’ being unreliable. So I buy an Air Arms, treat it like my precious, like all of my other rifles and it fails within 2 weeks. Never had that happen before. Maybe I should go with my gut next time and not listen to others. Btw great review Andy 👍

Since I learned that my R12 might kill me if the side lever fails flies back and hits me in the eye, hence a recall . I have handed it back and swapped it for this gun . And what a gun it is . I’m in love with it. As for the BSA😂😂😂😂😂 . What a joke. Never going back to the brand . I’m so disappointed in them .

What have you been told?? I am fully aware of the r12 recall on a very few of them, I was in the boardroom at the time and I can assure you that you have been told a load of rubbish! It has absolutely nothing to do with the side lever at all..! I will be keeping mine and not listening to bazaar rumours! I wish you luck with the Air Arms. Andy

Nice for a pellet rifle. I just wonder ..........$1200 American dollars and it won't support slugs or even hybrids at the high 700+ fps range that it has. England must consume a LOT of air rifles for these companies to continue selling "high-end" pellet-only rifles to continue creating these obviously beautiful rifles which won't use the new slugs. There are SO many rifles in this genre, "beautiful and expensive".....but not fully capable. I am sad that one can go only to the FX Impact to get the latest in hunting technology and thus leave behind the beauty of this rifle.

Its the black cheek piece ... ok ok as mrs said it runs with the colour of the action / cylinder .. BUT .MMmmmm .. im not sure ... The safety in the trigger .. dont know about that .. good / bad ? £1150 ? ... not bad .. not bad at all , but it has serious competition in that price bracket .. ( I can get one for £1050 btw ) ... Would I buy one ... well ! ... I like it , I like it a lot .... but the dreamline classic may eventually find its,way too Britain ... and that looks absolutely stunning in laminate at a predicted price a tad lower then the Air arms ... im off too the NEC show in a few weeks , making my mind up there ... wolverine R in the mix also ...

I like your take on the fx Dreamline , I have thought about the aa 510r as I used to own a Galahad .177 regulated and use the same innards as the 410 and 510 . I regret selling it and that's what makes me want to purchase one but the price varies . On the other hand I have 2 fx streamlines , 1 in laminate .177 and the other .22 in walnut , both new and hitting 80 odd yrds +on a good day . So , Im leaning more towards the Dreamline classic , a tad cheaper by £200 and its regulated , plus I think the fx has a fantastic magazine .

pressure vice ....red means no no ! but red start at 150 bar !???? confusing...

@Carsten it doesn’t work like that, you’ve totally misunderstood the gauge. The red and green disc revolves with the amount of pressure in the gun. Therefore if the delineating line was on 150 bar..... that’s what’s in the gun
