Air Asia X - Departing Kuala Lumpur for London-Stansted

Punctual morning departure from KLIA bound for Stansted (1 April 2009) onboard their first A340-313X named 'Xcalibur' and registered 9M-XAB - heading North overflying Penang, Langkawi and Phuket before I slumbered down to a snore on a rather comfortable XL seat for the duration of the flight.
This flight will go daily soon and Air Asia X is taking delivery of their second A340 which has already been painted in a special "Oakland Raiders" livery.

A very very big thank you to Tony & the gang for making all the pakciks & the makciks, afford to fly to see their children studying in UK!! We are very sad on the latest news on air asia finally withdrawing european routes. We're going to miss it & would be very excited if air asia decided to resurrect those routes in the future. We will wait!

I've seen pictures on google images of the Oakland Raiders liveried plane. It really stands out to the airline and to Stansted. A few photo oppotunities to the planespotter at Stansted.

if i'm not wrong the plane is flying towards port dickson because i landed on this runway 2 times and when i land i turn from the legendary water chalets and land in 3 min

Did you have to pay £6 for an entertainment system so that you could watch movies or tv programmes etc.. I so, do they come with ear or headpphones?

It's quite simple really. All you have to do is work out the power to weight ratio. For the weight of the aircraft, this aircraft is relatively underpowered compared to others in it's class. Importantly, this is the A340-300. The A340 500 and 600 are both much more powerful and heavier than the A340-300, but their power increases more than their actual weight.

@talkonfox It's got nothing to do with the Captain. The Airbus A340 300 is quite an underpowered aircraft. Going from KL to London, it would be very ehavy indeed. With it's slow acceleration and high takeoff speed, it's gonna need a lot of runway and take a while to reach rotation speed.

oh, disappointed !! The captain was too careful !! The take-up time is much slower than normal !!! He needs exactly 60 seconds to take up ? God !!! Normal time is around 40 seconds !!!!!

omG this is why i haaate being on airbus a330/a340...the engines on these planes have that high pitched noise and its SO annoying. B777 engines sound SO much more cool when they go full power and they dont have that annoying high pitched buzzing noise. i flew once on an airbus for 10 hours with this same exact noise. put me off airbus planes forever...
