Hello. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we appreciate your time and effort in sharing your thoughts. This year it is planned to open a new terminal, which will significantly improve the quality of ground services at the airport. We will be glad to see you on board again!
Companies should learn that's it is okay to be criticized. If only good things told to you, how can you improve on your self. Props to Air Astana to be open up to criticism and be confident to their products.
Flown Air Astana once back in 2009 and was immediately blown away by how detailed and good their services are. Not to mention the crews who were always smiling and always with a good vibe but not in an 'overly friendly' manner like some Middle Eastern or Asian carriers The airline truly is one of the most underrated airlines in the whole world!
Cheers! Have been there in ICN 7Eleven 6 times. Guess maybe I bought something from you. And now we meet up here in the comments 😂. Greetings from Thailand ☕️
No way! I can’t believe my eyes, you finally did it, David! Thanks for visiting our country, I also very love Air Astana. As I said, many times before, they are indeed very-very underrated. Glad, you’ve made a video about it.
I haven't watched your videos for a long time because I lost interest in flying but I see that the quality of your content just improved over time and I am glad you guys still have this Chanel. Tnx and here is to many more years for you.
Hello David! My name is German and I speak on behalf of unofficial fanclub of Air Astana! Thank you for your honest opinion, especially for the Almaty international terminal review. It's our pain too. As for your meal on the way to Seoul, we can inform you, that in 2016-2018 Air Astana conducted big customer research. The inflight service department included several questions about customer's preferences and every time after each international flight was completed, passengers received online test form with questions about meal service. I remembered that several times I filled that form and checked the box with "prefer to get a meal straight after departure". I'm sure that airline made the decision to serve food after departure based on customer questionnaire. Really appreciate your review!
I worked as an auditor few years ago. A client of mine was one of Europe’s largest travel retailers based in Hamburg and I was stationed for a month at KUL’s Terminal 2 to audit their books. It went on for two financial reporting periods and I loved every minute of it working in an airport.
I stuck till the end and I really love these longer, in-depth videos. I also appreciate all the work that goes in these videos. Keep it up and can’t wait for the next one!
Never even knew this airline existed in the first place!! I’ve seen a lot of other airlines, but this airline I’ve never even heard of. This one feels more obscure to me.
I used to be a routine regular watcher of yours a few years back prior 2020. Just rediscovered you and wow - incredible production quality!! So in-depth and well made, good stuff man
As a travel agent focused on ex-soviet / ruso-germans etc. based near frankfurt this is one of my best selling routes. Ill never do this trip on my own but its nice to see what product im selling haahha
I really do not understand the need for internet access while travelling. I have represented my company in many worldwide destinations and enjoyed the freedom of being incommunicado allowing me to relax and enjoy the travelling experience. These days I load my iPad with movies etc to pass the time during the flight just in case the entertainment has issues, as seen in Josh Cahill’s latest offering on Westjet! Great video David👍🏻
I love this channel because you are also giving us a review of the Airlines home base airport! Would like to see more airport/HUB reviews implemented in the reports, as it is a part of the final product!
Really nice video, really impressed with Air Astana too. And I’m hoping that Air Astana will collaborate with Almaty on fixing up that mess of an airport! (Before the new terminal is coming)
Amazing Trip Report as always. I'm very surprised impressed with Air Astanas product. Usually those Ex-Soviet country carriers aren't that great or unknown but they really seem like a hidden Gem. Sometimes the lesser known Airlines are the ones providing the best experience. I had by far my best Eco flight with Oman Air for example a few years ago.
Thank you very much for this comprehensive Review, David. I really enjoyed watching it and I appreciated the side information about the seats, the Airline etc.
Lovely report man! I've flown this exact same route, just the opposite way (Astana-Frankfurt), and I loved it so much! Flight crew was amazing, seats and food were very nice as well, plus lots of amenities! Will post my trip report in the near future as well. Safe travels!
Watching the video having used Air Astana from Bangkok to Frankfurt last year. I was in business and really impressed, great to see Economy class is really good too. Almaty Airport I completely agree with, however the staff were amazing and organised me a Yandex. Leaving was as you said, definitely looking forward to the new Terminal.
Hey David! Been subbed to you for years and I was curious if you could do another TripReport at Manchester Airport (UK). With the newly opened parts of T2 I think it would be a great thing to cover on the channel such as an Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways, or Virgin Atlantic flight. I am flying out of that terminal in a few months on a VA A330-300 to Orlando for the first time and want to get a sense of what you think its like!
interesting video though, although been on your channel since 2017 on a other account but, you always are honest, and about that Boeing 767 last ever build in 2014??!! has blown my mind dude.
I am flying the reverse route in Business Class in a couple of weeks time. Very much looking forward to it (have nearly a 24 hour layover in Kazakhstan).
Just a heads up if your in business class, speak to the crew about breakfast as they take your order. Ask to have it when you wake up, just a snack at the start.
I find it amazing that an airline gives such a service on a short-medium hall flight with an airbus 321... I havent seen a multimedia screen on a 320/737 in a while... and the food... damn.
At the time, Air Astana stated the reason for suspending Russian service was their insurance wouldn't cover them in Russia. Of course, the Russians claimed it was due to Air Astana being 49% British-owned.
Thanks for the video, but you seem to have forgotten to cover the ticket number and the frequent flyer number on right side of the boarding pass in the intro part (because these numbers on the left were covered, so just a reminder)
I was skeptical of flying this airline (even though the fares were cheaper) but I'm relieved to see how good they are! What remains a bit nerve wracking is connecting through a Kazakhi airport...
I have flown Air Astana several times between Seoul and Almaty (and once on Asiana). I have been impressed on every flight. However, the Almaty airport is one of the worst I've been to. I've been on that red eye to Seoul at least half a dozen times, usually after a 7-hour layover. The new terminal was scheduled to be opened on June 1, apparently. Unfortunately, my last trip through was on June 3 and it was not complete yet.
I love Almaty, and have flown Air Astana from there to Bishkek (pretty good) - but omg the airport. The worst 'business' lounge I've ever been in. I'm going back in May - I wonder if the new terminal will be ready by then.
The quality of my Air Astana flight in December 2023 from Bangkok-Almaty was one of the best of my life. I keep telling everyone that the product is right up there with Emirates and SQ. Yes, Almaty airport was not good, but it's not the "worst" airport in the world. Also you should get Yandex Taxi - I had no trouble getting in or out of the airport and it was very cheap and quick from the city centre.
A very small and insignificant detail, as a Czech who speaks English and decent German I always "catch" the word "also" pronounced as if in German, compared with the flawless English in the rest of the narration. ALSO, that is a CZECH beer at 9:33!! Woow.
LAX has the same issue re transport (not sure if it’s as bad compared to Almaty). On several occasions traffic is so backed up it’s faster to walk, even from as far as the In-N-Out down the street.
Great review! I recently flew long haul economy on British Airways .Air Astana beats them hands down! We had no hot towels, no amenity kits,no power outlets, and dreadful food with wooden cutlery!
@@Juanceesaintit is true unfortunately. I used to fly with them my entire childhood, but they’re slowly falling apart and are on the brink of bankruptcy due to corruption. I truly hope they can restructure and return to their former glory of the emirates days.
I can tell if I get treated differently and receive service elements that others don’t. That happened once back in 2018 when I worked on a project with a different airline, and it made things awkward because of course I won’t put those into the video. Also, I can tell they have no idea about what I’m doing if they ask me why I’m filming, which the crew on the first Air Astana flight from FRA to NQZ actually did. Hope that clears things up. :)
Can you help me? I have several questions. I am a frequent British Airways traveler in economy class, but I have decided that for this trip I will take a one-way trip in economy class and for the return trip in business class. My question is for the return, the check-in area will be in the club europe zone? And as for the luggage, it tells me that I can carry 2 suitcases of 32kg, can I carry a suitcase of 64kg? And the last question, will I have access to the VIP area at both airports (I have a stopover at Heathrow)?
Hey David! Greetings from Almaty! 🇰🇿 Never clicked your video so fast lol We absolutely hate our airport, it's the most miserable experience travelers can have and it's absolutely unacceptable to have such a deplorable terminal for the city of our size. You're lucky you missed out the recent shitshows that happened there due to the bad weather. Thankfully new terminal should be ready by summer and the older one will only service the domestic flights.
On your 1st and 3rd flight, did you sleep on the plane, if so, how many hours and I am curious, how much did you pay to take a bus in Almaty? 20:41 20:46 and 20:55, okay.
