FIRE in Glenwood Canyon, you could see the smoke from my house and so I drove to Transfer Trail to the saddle and viewed the arial attack on the Grizzly Creek Fire...4 different tankers and multiple spotters and a couple helicopters work on stopping the progress on Day 1 of the fire....one tanker run in particular is hair-raising and the pilot has nerves of steel...over 179k views FB...

Sometimes it's hard to believe the plane can even fly with how heavy the pilots balls of steel are on board.

Super tanker.pilot is only between 747 and the 4 dc10s that gets this low the dc10s and c130 don't fly like this real.pilot

The DC9-80 made those dives gear down with a windshield full of mountain, no sky. Those were the most impressive retardant drops I have ever seen.

Thats the 747 super tanker and the other big planes are dc10s the dc10 don't get this low this is biggest tanker

The Erickson MD-83 drop was the most impressive drop I've ever seen! They were flying out of the USFS Jeffco Tanker Base in Broomfield and I believe they were also flying out of Grand Junction. I couldn't read the number on the tail but Erickson had several MD-83s involved. The MD-83s had to put the gear and flaps down because of the air flow. The retardant was sucked into the engines if the gear and flaps weren't down. I shot photos of the MD-83s flying out of the Jeffco Tanker Base showing retardant splashed up over the leading edge of the wing.

Why not flying an MD80, or what it was exactly, like a aerobatic plane or a fighter jet, if you can?

Crew has nothing to do with it this is the biggest tanker he's only one who gets this low the dc10s don't get this low or the c130

Utmost respect for the pilots who know their airplanes and how to fly them. Who knew commercial passenger aircraft could be flown like a groung hugging acrobatic fighter jet bomber. Hello Air force pilots? Umm ...we have a new mission for your enjoyment..um hello, hello?
