I live 40 min from 77s and 250. If I knew u needed a hose I would of brought you one out free of charge and helped you put it on. My family been trucking since the 70's and I love them cab overs. I was raised in the 80's and always did runs with my dad. Great memories brother. Be Safe

This old cab over tractor is a work horse..... these trucks was made with quality and you could break out the tool box and repair it yourself... these day's if you don't have a computer handy.. it's pointless Great video bro👊

Good work Steve We had a 1980 international with a NTC400 Cummins in it. I used to carry a bucket load of spares with me when I drove it. Everything from springs, washers to cable ties. That thing never let me down . Old trucks don't ride as good as the new gear but they were easy to fix on the side of the road without computers and emission control systems and that truck would always got me home.

I think part of it is just like when cars and motorcycles went fuel injection and computer control their was a period of unreliability same with trucks give it time for the manufacturers to get it down and the new trucks will be just as reliable as the old ones

Bro: You asked (4:21) "Why do I have to put it ..." under the other hoses and down by the frame? Because you have to keep the new braid away from all those rubber hoses. It's like a hack saw vibrating 10,000/minute. Hope it all works. [I know I'm 2 weeks too late, but you asked. Really enjoy riding along on my sleepless nights. Don D, La Mesa, CA

Where the new main discharge line is running on your fuel lines I always cut a piece of blue silicone heater hose and wrap it so it doesn’t rub thru on frame or on it self and ruin either the fuel or the discharge line. I work at a heavy duty repair shop and we always go that extra route for our customers to keep them rolling and on the road.. love Orwell my dad had almost same truck when I was growing up and I have plenty of good memories with him on the road..

Oh the joys of running your own truck in the wintertime in the north & northeast. Never had to replace an air line but I did have to thaw out a lot of brake lines on drop & hook container trailers in the ports around NY / NJ area; I always carried a case of dry gas for that possibility. Changed my share of iced up fuel filters on the side of the highway too. And spent one long cold winter night broke down on the top of a mountain on a desolate stretch of old route 17 in upstate NY waiting for my brother to bring me a new turbo from the shop after mine blew out. Changing that out in my old cab over Brockway with a wind chill of around -8 degrees was all kinds of fun back in those days before computers & cell phones.

you might want to look into installing a saftey valve in the supply line, you were lucky it didnt blow the air compressor head gasket along with the hose, and if your air dryer pops off alot you need to fix that so your not making so much water and burning your air compressor,

I put it back in filled the radiator back up and started the engine. I am sitting in my car preening like a peacock that I had fixed my radiator when I noticed I heard a strange noise, so I quickly turned the engine off and checked under the hood, low and behold I forgot to put the transmission cooler lines back on the radiator and the transmission had been pumping the transmission fluid onto the floor of my parents garage while I had been sitting there feeling smug.

South of Detroit on I 75 highway slick ice cars were sliding of the highway, low air pressure buzzer came on 60 lbs and dropping held both brake buttons in and in neutral let truck into an easy stop, jacked up cab and that night I learned air governor state trooper stopped told me not to park there, I told him in can't build air pressure, he became my knight in shining armor, I had the governor in my hand, he put a bunch of fussees out took me to a shop got the part, took me back to truck, he held flashlight stayed until I had air pressure, I drove to the same shop and spent the night, not my only good cop story, but this one fits right here, pull toy here

When I moved to the south in 2003, I was amazed that drivers down here never bled their air tanks. Definitely a no no when you’re up north in very cold weather. I actually bled a couple air tanks when I was refueling after my route, and a stream of water would come out. I just shook my head. I still haven’t had anybody from the south that can tell me what fog and 25 degrees gets ya. Ice fog. Roads are fine but watch the bridges and over passes.

When I first started driving, I was just a steering wheel holder and had trouble with that. I left Ft. Worth, TX one afternoon in the first week of January , 1969 in my shirt sleeves but by the time I got to Muskogee, OK it was 5 degrees, continuing on by the time I got to Joplin, MO it was minus 8 degrees and my brakes froze up because of water in the lines (didn't have automatic air tank discharge back then nor pull chains on the discharge valve). I was driving a two story falcon which if you know trucks was not a very good truck besides being ugly as hell. So I sympathize with you having to thaw your brakes.

Just FYI ... M1 is 99.85% pure methanol. Methanol is methyl alcohol, compared to the drinking stuff, which is ethanol (ethyl alcohol, i.e. grain alcohol -- stuff they make from corn, and sell as E85 for street cars.) Used to crew for a AA/FD back in the 70s ... one job was mixing fuel -- we ran 88% nitro and 12% methanol in an old-school Donovan with cast-iron 392 heads.
