The video was recorded when i was only 6 years old... wow Really love my favorite a340 in AirCanada livery. So sad they're gone. Luckily i can observe some a340s at Frankfurt Airport almost everyday.

On March 16, the last A-340 was flown to it's new owner. No more 4 engine planes at AC. Main reason, especially for the 500's, was high fuel consumption and very expensive to maintain. The B777-300 is considered more fuel efficient for the same distance flown. Irregardless, some of the A340's were due for replacement, they dated since the mid 90's. The next in line for replacement are the A-330's.
My friend told me why before, but I forgot. Actually I really like 340-500 much, because the seating is 2-4-2 instead of 3-4-3, and i like to sit beside window most of the time.
I took this video outside fedex hangar at Derry Road and Bramalea Road. There was a small hill, but had been removed. Right now you can go to Airport Road Wendy's, Dixie Road Wendy's, you can still go to outside fedex, but sometimes the airport authorities or Peel police will ask you to leave. Courtneypark Drive, you may only see plane landing at 33L, and also police may check what are you doing there. Last place you may go to Aviation World parking or some industrial area behind.
AC should have kept the A340s, They are excellent planes, Quiet and comfy all around and can go very far, so it's ideal for those long, 8 to 14 hr flights. Don't think the age was a factor, since the A340 is a state of the art plane. More like saving money on fuel, I assume.
