Here's my flight from the 323 TRS Mustangs graduated Airman performing drill for their family before being released. It was great being their Military Training Instructor. These ladies showed up and showed out everyday.
Sgt. Duffy it is so good to see and remember great memories from BMT. Now that it has been passed the 6 months hahaha I hope you are doing well and thank you for posting :)
At the risk of severely dating myself, and knowing things have changed a lot... when I went through BMT in 71, there was cadence call during initial training. After that cadence call was minimal, with NO 'jody' calls. I distinctly remember my TI only calling cadence to begin a march, or to correct us. Most of the time was him telling us to listen to the heel beat, or 'dig in', or 'settle down'. Even to this day, I find myself, if I have to walk a distance... straightening up, cupping my hands, digging in, and getting the best, it's forever in my head, even after 40 plus years. Thanks to TSgt Hotz.
ah mems! In 1988 we called it razzle dazzle but still the same idea. i left 27 Feb and can't imagine to be out on the drill pad mid Mar in San Anton. .
Had two sons graduate there, one in July and one in August. Hottest I’ve ever been, and we visitors were in the shade. One son said the sun reflecting on his shiny black shoes on the concrete was beyond painful.
OCP's will be the AF uniform in 2021. We still wear ABU's, but a lot of airmen wear OCP's. You can buy them once you get to your duty station if you want, or you get them issued when you get deployed. I'm wearing my ABU's til they're dead haha
I didn't ask who was the best. Besides Marines should march better with 12 weeks of basic training vs our 7 weeks at the time this was made. Thanks for the so called compliment tho...Carry on...
Marines don’t spend as much time on drill compared to the Air Force in an 8 week period... i think Air Force has the best marching cuz we don’t do anything else at basic 🤷🏻♂️
lets see I remember lean back and the steady steady nice and steady heel beat listen to the heel beat! then an UNBELIEVABLY long string of profanity then Casey get in step airman you are . . . . back to the long string of profanities. Sometimes I can only imagine how nice it must be to be NOT tall and by extension the fourth element leader and just blend in into the middle of the flight . . .
I think you may have been my TI in basic! But I can't remember your name! Can you possibly post your name (last w/ rank). I graduated in 1990. You look really familiar to me and I'm just curious if you were one of our TIs. Please let me know!
