A small correction. Simon said that any aircraft carrying the President becomes Airforce 1. That is incorrect. Only Airforce planes carrying the President becomes Airforce 1. If the President is on an aircraft from another branch then it becomes that branch name 1. So the helicopter he flys on is a Marine helicopter and thus gets the designation Marine 1. If he were to be flying on a Navy aircraft it would become Navy 1 and so on...

On November 22, 1963, I was a student in College Park at the University of Maryland. The whole campus (and the world) was devastated by the terrible news out of Dallas. I was standing outside my dorm at sunset and I heard the sound of a jet going over. We often heard jets from Andrews AFB. I looked up and to the west and saw the sad, lonely shape of Air Force One against the crimson sky as it brought two U. S. presidents back home. One fallen. One brand new.

How sad for you. A unique sight but one that brought you so much sadness.the entire world ached at that moment. I was in my high school, Spanish class in the audio room wearing headsets. SUddenly they were shut off and replaced with news coverage of announcing the President had ben shot and confirmed dead in Dallas. At that point, all classes were cancelled and I returned home. My mom was in front of the TV watching the news of what happened. She was crying as if anyone in our family had just died. We watched the sad news as we saw the funeral and John Boy salute his father's coffin and Caroline kiss her dad's coffin. Such memories were engraven in my heart. Such a terrible loss. Here is a megaproject. The USS Monitor. She may not have been huge, but the impact on naval warfare was massive. She ended wooden sailing warships and warships with rows of guns, had more than 40 patentable components, and the world's first rotating turret ever put to sea and to be used in battle. USS Monitor had less impact on naval warfare than you would think. Firstly, the British, through Captain Coles, patented a rotating turret before the Monitor as used with the raft 'Lady Nancy' this turret was improved and put on the floating battery HMS Trusty (The first ship with a turret.). This turret was far superior to the one used on USS Monitor as the turret on USS Monitor had huge shortcomings with the accuracy of the shot and its following correction shots. Cole's turret was vastly more reliable and durable. HMS Monarch holds the distinction of being the first ocean going ship with gun turrets. But yeah, HMS Trusty holds the distinction of being the first turreted ship, French Ironclad Gloire the first ocean capable armoured ship and HMS Devastation being the true ancestor to modern warships. Monitor only holds the distinction of being the first ship to engage another ironclad. HMS Devastation was the first ocean going capable steamship. If USS Monitor had been capable of ocean sailing then it would have had a more significant impact on naval warfare and is not even close to worthy of being a megaproject in the least. They had such an impact on naval warfare that when the civil war ended the US navy practically put them all into the naval reserve.

Air Force One doesn’t refer to any aircraft the President us on; it is the call sign for an Air Force aircraft actively carrying the President. If the President is on a Marine Aircraft then the call sign is Marine One, and so on for the Army, Navy, and the Coast Guard. Executive One is the call sign if the President is flown on a private aircraft though the likelihood of this happening is small there is a call sign in place just in case. I know the president has flown on Air Force, Marine, and Navy aircraft but can’t recall a flight aboard an Army or Coast Guard aircraft.

Yea, the mega project videos are littered with mistakes. Another one would be the confusion of the Air Force 1 with the Airborne Laser (ABL), wich is also based on the 747, but a completely different aircraft. Seems like the editor read something about the defense systems of the Air Force 1, saw something about a laser defense system, wich the AF1 probably has, and concluded, after a quick search on google, that this system would be the ABL. When in reality the systems on board of the AF1 probably are IR lasers to blind incoming IR missiles. Not the ABL that can shoot down ballistic missiles. Why would you want the AF1 to be able to shoot down ICBMs??

I had an uncle who worked as a phone tech in Ohio, at the United States Air Force base, Wright-Patterson, that did maintenance on Air Force One. I visited him and my aunt in the summer of 72 and slept in the guest bedroom and next to the bed was a regular rotary style phone, tan in color with an official Air Force One presidential logo in the center of the rotary unit. He had replaced the phones in AF One with newer ones and one of the old ones came home with him. LOL I was so excited to call my parents back home and tell them I was talking on the same phone the President had used. I still wonder what happened to that phone. Kinda wish I could have gotten it from my cousin when he settled the estate after his parents deaths.

No. I was sound recordist on two docs about AF 1 and have logged around 25 flights both to Africa and the Mid-East was well as spent lots of time at Joint Base Andrews. The one thing that we won't see is the special area behind the flight deck, full of monitors, terminals, and secret EQ. Manned by the "Radios" a team of irreverent specialists, it is I'm sure a subject worthy of another film, [if they would only let one make it]. I highly doubt that a laser system would be practical, it requires massive amounts of energy which means massive batteries, even with the latest technology, maybe they could get a couple of shots. The aircraft's generators are powerful but not enough. There's also the fact that it doesn't have any visible laser thingy/camera/lenses, unless there's a trap door for it and that would mean a lot of frame modifications. I will say this, the escape pod shown in the Harrison Ford movie could totally be a possibility but it's still a stretch, the aircraft might be massive but it's still limited, there's a lot that it packs inside we don't know about but can speculate.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II had the Royal Yacht Britannia, also known as Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia. An aircraft for the nation that 'ruled the waves' seemed inappropriate, even in 1954 when she was commissioned. Britannia was the 83rd Royal yacht since 1660. Then after election in May 1997, and following the death of Diana, the former Princess of Wales, the savage Tony Blair, Globalist pretending to be Socialist and Republic seeker, whipped up a storm against Monarchy, and Her Majesty had her vessel taken away from her like a naughty schoolchild. Brittania was decommissioned in December 1997, and now she is permanently berthed in Leith (Edinburgh) Scotland, and is Scotland's most visited tourist attraction. Interesting addendum, The Prince of Wales' 2nd wife Camilla, by order of the Crown, should be titled Princess of Wales. However fearing a backlash, again from Socialist scum, she was titled incorrectly, Duchess of Cornwall, which is still imbecillic to this day. The first heir to the throne marries a Princess, end of. America and the UK share this issue. If people want Socialist Communism, there's plenty of nations waiting for them. The current 747s were also purchased used, from Evergreen Leasing if I am not mistaken. The reason for this is pretty interesting. Building the thing from scratch would require tons of people, retrofitting an existing airplane uses considerably fewer people and also means that the retrofit can happen in areas that are much smaller than the Boeing 747 Plant in Everett WA. This makes security easier.

Please consider a video on the Federal Columbia River Project (FCRP). This project covers all the dams on the Columbia river in the US Pacific Northwest. The largest electric power producing hydro electric dam on the North American continent is part of the FCRP (the Grand Coulee dam at over 6809 Mw). The entire project has about a dozen dams, starting with the Bonneville Dam, which was completed in 1937, and allowed the Allies to win WWII by powering aluminum (aluminium) production in Portland, Oregon.

Here's an interesting fact that most people don't know. There are 3 colors of carpet in the aircraft. Starting at the door where you see the President go in/out of the plane forward to the cock pit is Gold Color. There are secret service standing on both sides of the door and nobody is allowed to go forward unless the President calls for them. From the door back 1/3 of the plane, the carpet is blue. This is where the Presidents Staff, reporters, guests sit. The last 3rd the carpet is red, this is where the crew members when not working sit. As you can imagine their are some heavy restrictions from going to red to blue areas as well as going from the blue to gold area.
