Just graduated from OTS as of October 16, 2020. Read the OTSMAN, know how to march, know how to call cadence with confidence, know how to report, know dining facility procedures, be able to pass PT test with 85 or above, and focus on SOBs when it comes to studying academic materials, and try to sleep no later than 9:30 pm each night.

Is there an age limit? I enlisted at the age of 32, and won't be eligible until I'm 38. What age is the cutoff for OTS if I'm Enlisted going to Officer?
@Tasadaru
@Tasadaru Год назад
@@CoreyWhiteCollar I believe it is 39. You can apply for OTS while enlisted. I suggest making it to E4 or E5 before then. You need to show leadership potential. Also, choose careers that are low in supply. Contracting, finance, and acquisition are good ones.

Kinda crazy that you made posted this 2.5 years ago and all the information is still relevant and accurate. I applied as a civilian just over a year ago, I remember watching this video... didn't connect a lot of the dots yet. I am swearing in and getting my orders next Friday 11OCT2019. Watching this video again, makes much more sense than last year. Hey, just wanted to say a huge thanks for the video, it was very imformative! I'm so glad I found your channel, not many people talk about ots it's mainly enlisted people who make videos. But I was wondering about buying abus how many I should buy because my recruiter said that they get ruined while at ots and that I should try and get most of them from the airmans attic. Also what's the pt like while you're there? Like what type of exercises you do and how often and such. Thanks again for the info!
@TheLieutenant
@TheLieutenant 7 лет назад
Hey, thank you for subscribing! Glad to help! As far as ABU's I don't think they will get ruined. You could probably get them from Airman's attic (I assume you are enlisted?), but you'll need to have the nametapes on and no rank as you will be a cadet. PT is more of a crossfit style and usually every other day if I remember correctly.

A little late to this video but still hoping you could answer some questions. In your other video you mentioned you have a BA in ME, which is my goal also. Where did you go to school for your degree? I'm taking the CC then transfer route but was considering joining the AF enlisted route to finish my BA sooner but I'm unsure how long it will take to obtain that degree if I join as enlisted with some community college credits. Also after the BA I was considering OTS, like you, which is why I watched this video. And after OTS I was going to try for pilots, as you did. I was wondering what would a timeline be from enlisted to completing OTS? 6 yrs? 8 yrs? Thanks in advance!

Couple questions: 1. How hard would you say the curriculum is compared to the engineering courses you took? I'm studying engineering myself so it'd be nice to get an idea of how tough it's gonna be. 2. Did you or anyone you know at OTS have a wife or long term gf? If so how does that work while you're there? Do you get to communicate with them at all? 3. How likely is it to get a job in engineering? I don't want my degree to just sit there while I do something completely different for four years. Thanks in advance.
@TheLieutenant
@TheLieutenant 7 лет назад
Hey Tank, 1.) It's difficult, but in a different way. Not in a technical way, but in an overloaded stressed way. Their job is to put you in overwhelming and stressful situations to grow you as a LEADER and as a decision maker. Individual growth as a leader and team player is the goal here. 2.) Yes. Email is the only method of communication until you get phased up and then you can have your phones. 3.) Pretty likely if you meet requirements and the AF has a need. Best wishes!
@GunnarDH
@GunnarDH 7 лет назад
The Lieutenant thanks for the reply. So how likely do you think it would be to get a job in engineering out of the air force? Do employers like to hire engineers out of the air force? Also, how much say do you get in where you are stationed? For instance, if I really did not want to be stationed of the country for a long period of time would I have to be?

The Lieutenant also, do you think you could make a day in the life type of video? be great to see what the average day of an engineering officer in the air force is like. thanks for all the info

Tank Pretty good chance of getting hired with the experience that you'll have when you get out of the AF but that depends on you. As far as having a say where you are stationed, you can put 5 preferences of where you'd like to go, but if there's a need, you may not get any of your preferences.

Hey, you are quite welcome. Awesome news! Best of luck! AFOQT wasn't bad, but you have to be smart as you only have so much time to do each section. Practice by testing yourself (using an AFOQT study book sample test) with a timer and that should help give you an idea. Your letters will be great as long as they are a true reflection of who you really are :-) Hope this helps!

You'd drill at a base in your state more than likely or the one nearest you from what I understand. I'd double checkbwith a reserve recruiter just to be safe though!

Do OTS cadets go through all of the immunization shots like the enlisted guys do? More specifically, did you get the penicillin shot?
@TheLieutenant
@TheLieutenant 5 лет назад
I didn't see anyone get that shot....it wasn't a line like enlisted...we were given only specific shots that we needed

Do you have to go to basic before OTS? I know Army makes you go to basic before OCS as a college opt

What would you recommend to do? I have my 4 year degree in business administration, but I want to get the military training and experience to eventually work for the FBI which is my career goal. I also plan to get my master’s degree. Could I do the 9 week training graduate and then go back to college at all?
@TheLieutenant
@TheLieutenant 5 лет назад
Personally I'd recommend OTS as the route, try to get selected for an OSI job, and then work on your masters using the GI Bill or Tuition Assistance

this might be a silly question, but are there any restrictions to what you can bring to OTS? can you bring a personal kettle/coffee pot?

gayathri venugopal probably not any items like that, usually just a few days of clothing and personal care is needed then you’ll be provided uniforms and other necessities

If you do AFROTC in college do you go to OTS or with the other enlisted people to BMT?

I am currently in high school and I want to go and fly HH-60G Pave Hawks for the Air Force, which path should I take; Should I go to the AFA or OTS? I also am a Civil Air Patrol cadet my rank is C/SMSgt so I know basic drill, and leadership, as well as aerospace.

Tyler Neal first things first. Finish your college degree. Don’t get a DUI, that will almost guarantee ruin your chance of getting a pilot slot. I would apply to the Guard for -60’s, Active isn’t a bad option either.

How easy is it to get medical waivers? I have a few scars from stab wounds from my mother who has a mental disorder. Would it be easy to get a waiver for this? I plan on either going to the US military medical school or go on the "reserves" route while in medical school.

I am still a year away from even going to college and I plan to go to ocs. Saying that, do you know what you recommend I study so I have a better chance to get into ocs as a civilian? Thank you for the video. I might as well know prior to going even if it is a few years from now.

If you're going to college, do ROTC. Much better chances of getting picked up, getting the job you want, and you don't have to go to OTS.
@jimgood1949

Trystan Morales Study whatever field interests you, just get good grades. The military needs people from a variety of academic backgrounds. If your college offers ROTC, that may be easier than OTS or OCS.

@fatjuicytaco

First of all, I don’t know for sure because I haven’t gone through the training myself, but I’ve asked my relatives who have. They told me that the majority of people are fresh-out-of-college young adults, but there were a few older recruits.
