When you get two creatives together, good things happen. Vick Almighty teamed up with Enrique from A1 Restorations to create a first of its kind custom sneaker…a combination of the Fire Red Jordan 4 and Air Force 1.
An “Air 4orce 1” if you will…get it? The two base shoes that we’re going to be combining and making a hybrid out of are the Fire Red Air Jordan 4 and an all-white Air Force 1. With Vick’s artistic abilities and A1’s sole swapping knowledge, this custom should come together without too much trouble.

The first step in making this custom sneaker was prepping the soles. Because we’re going to take the Air Jordan 4 sole and glue it onto the Air Force 1 upper, we need to be careful taking these sneakers apart.
After removing the soles from their respective uppers, Vick carefully removed the tongue from the Fire Red Air Jordan 4, netting and all, to attach to the Air Force 1 upper later on.
While A1 started prepping the Jordan 4 sole for glue, Vick worked on making the custom swooshes, which required three separate pieces. Vick painted the netting portion and lining of the swoosh white, and glued them together onto a black background piece.
While this was going on A1 took a Dremel tool to the sole of the Jordan 4 to make sure it fits flush with the Air Force 1 upper. Trying to fit a sole onto a different shoe can be challenging, but A1 made it look pretty darn easy. After spending some time carving out the outsole, the fitment looks like it should be on point.
Now we can start gluing the shoe together. After applying the glue and letting it cure for a full 24 hours, we’re ready to check out the fitment for real and stick these two pieces together. Like a glove! A1 stitched the toe box to the midsole to finish the combination process.
With the hardest part out of the way, the rest should be smooth sailing. Vick and A1 removed the old swoosh from the AF1 and glued the new custom swooshes in place. Then Vick used his airbrush to paint the sock liner in that classic Fire Red tone, as well as hand painted the backtab with flat, black paint.
A1 trimmed the donor tongue from the Fire Red 4s to the proper size, and glued it in place before passing it over to Vick to stitch. The finishing touch on this Fire Red Air Force 1 custom is a Mars Blackmon stencil that Vick created and painted in black.
We love how these turned out. The first of its kind! The netting swoosh and tongue really set this custom off!
