Of ALLLLLL the air lauering videos i watched, you gave the clearest example of where to make my cuts. THANK YOU! I just hope i am able to know when im looking at cambium, or deeper layers so i dont mess that part up.

I predict good results my shishigashira showed roots in less than 2 months. It'll at least respond way better than the Bloodgood did. 👍

My Bloodgood still not roots but it hasn’t died either. I did the air layer in Feb as an experiment. Lol

@@MapleNutz on the Bloodgood just move up to the next node start a fresh cut and try again you can keep working up as long as it hasn't died completely. The successes I had with a Emperor one only have one or two small Roots but once it was disconnected and put in a pot it grew vigorously.

Approximately how long will this take before you repot your "new" tree?

#maplenutz I'm thinking about air layering a branch off my Sango Kaku. I'm looking forward to seeing your results.

Me neither bro. I’m so excited to see how it will turn out. I’ll be posting Shorts every few weeks as an update and then make a full video detaching it and potting it. 🤩🤩🤩

Hi bro. The knife that you used to make the cut is super sharp and it makes the cutting clean. I would appreciate it if you could put a link on where to obtain it? I hope to get an extra edge and confidence in doing my first air layering!

Do you put the plant in a shaded place or can put it out in full sun
@MapleNutz
@MapleNutz Год назад
Put it in my 50% shade area. Forgot to mention it. Thanks, I’ll talk about that in my next air layer video.

New to Japanese maples so sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the purpose of air layering?
@MapleNutz
@MapleNutz Год назад
To make a new tree out of the current one.
@Piercat212
@Piercat212 Год назад
Really?!? How likely is it to be successful? Also what are the risks to damaging your current shishi? Thanks for all the help
@MapleNutz
@MapleNutz Год назад
@@Piercat212 with Air Layering there’s always risks of loosing the branch. It is why I recommend using branch that you would’ve cut anyways. My tree was growing long and narrow and I don’t like that, so I air layer the branch, if I loose the branch, no biggie and if I have a successful air layer then it’s a bonus for me.
