I'm going to put the Air Lift 1000 on my Jeep Gladiator Overland. I previously installed the Fab Fours rack and it dropped me down about an inch. I gained some back with a Rubicon spring swap but I'm still low. Now for the air bags!!

This is great, thanks for also showing them after the install inflated. I'm adding the same to my JTR this weekend. I like the idea of inflating to reduce body roll on highway and deflate to get back the Rubicon ride on dirt. Some additional tricks I've seen thanks to others like you sharing: put the bag in hot water to soften it up and attach the line to the bag before sliding it in.

Thanks for this video. I was wondering what to do myself. I have a 150lb rack and will have a 140 lb tent on top of that, not to mention gas cans, fridge, camping gear in the bed. So this might be a very economical answer for the squat I know I will have. BTW... I like how you do your videos, they are real life with real problems that pop up when working on projects. Don't cut out the problematic stuff, this way we know what to expect.

Nice. I have the RC 3.5" lift with 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers. With my rack and tent, I'm having a little bit of a squatting issue. I'm hoping this system works. Thanks for posting!

@@EvolvingMale Working great so far w/ 3.5" lift and 37" Nittos. I installed mine with the valves on bottom like yours because the PDF file I downloaded shows it done that way, although the instructions that came in the package show the valve installed on top. I'm at 32 psi and currently have 250 lbs loaded up the back with my rack system and tent. I'm currently sitting level. I'm curious to see where I'll be with another 300-400 lbs back there at the maximum 35 psi.

@@Waresy23 that's awesome. I had mine up to 35 with the rack and tent on last week and it was too high. I had to take it down. It would be interesting to see how much it can handle.

How much squat do you actually have? I just installed the RC 3.5 on my mojave and with the same stuff on the bed (as before the install) the rear only went up about1 1.5-2 inches and the front went up about 4.5. Not sure how that happened but it is very noticeable. And I doubt I installed anything wrong, it was pretty straight forward.

These types of air assist bags work great, I've had the air lift in particular on my Ram 1500 and Silverado 1500. Minimal impact on ride quality. I didn't know they had already been released for the Gladiator, I know what my next mod will be since I do tow my RV and usually have a bed full of gear as well.

Hi, Evolving Male, I like the entire look of your Gladiator and the standard Overland Model wheels and big tires. I am curious what size are your current tires on the Jeep? I am possibly looking at getting an all color matching Hydro Blue Jeep Gladiator. Thanks, Andrew
@EvolvingMale
@EvolvingMale 4 года назад
Sorry for the slow response. My wheels are 18 inch stock and the tires are 285/75. In the Nitto Ridge Grapplers that comes out to 35" . I love the tires and they are pretty quiet. If you go on Discount Tire website, they show you what size the different tires measure out to. I love Hydro Blue and Honestly I'd rather have it. But I didn't see any Overlands for sale around me in that color. Almost everything was white, black or grey.

Hey, thanks for the video. I'm looking to remediate the sag I have on mine when I've got a trailer hitched up. I have a question about how this is still working a year+ later. Those hoses aren't designed to have the flex that the suspension puts on them with them being mounted upside down. Is everything still working great?
@EvolvingMale
@EvolvingMale 2 года назад
Everything is fine. There's no issue with the bag being mounted upside down. It really doesn't matter. When not needed I keep just enough air in them (not that you can evacuate all of it anyway) to keep it from bouncing around. They qkrk great and it's been about a year and a half. Hoses are fine. It's a really simple but effective product.

What lift kit do you have on your overland and what size and type of tires? I have an overland gladiator currently and am looking to do the Mopar lift but don’t wanna come out for new wheels yet if I can avoid. Saw you had a lift and still stock 18x7.5” wheels so I was curious as to the tires u were running
@EvolvingMale
@EvolvingMale 4 года назад
Tires are 285/75. In the Nitto Ridge Grapplers that comes out to 35" . I have the Rough Country 3.5" leveling kit. It's 3.5" in the front and 1" in the rear. They have since come out with one for the same price $499 that has springs, but I think you have to call for it. I don't think it's on the site yet, but I recently talked to someone at ROugh Country and he told me about it. It's a little pricey for a level but it is very well made. The Mopar 2" lift is okay but it's really not big enough. If I was going to go a complete lift kit, I would go 4" and be able to run 37" tires. I will probably do that in 2 or 3 years when it's time to buy new tires. But then I have to regear. That is a possibly a future project.
@ryaneckert8547
@ryaneckert8547 4 года назад
Evolving Male thanks for the information. I was looking to run 37” tires and was hoping they would fit with the Mopar lift just so it didn’t mess with warranty. That’s my biggest concern.

Question... With the pucks on the bottom of the spring did you find that puck didn't fit squarely? The spring is a different diameter at the bottom and the puck appears like it could slide around
@EvolvingMale
@EvolvingMale 2 года назад
I didn't notice much movement or anything. Once you add air the bag squishes through the spring and even after you deflate, it sort of stays in place there. So it hasn't been an issue. I've had no issues what-so-ever. IT's definately a good, cheap upgrade/alternative to a heavier duty airbag system.
