Great job. My Airlift compressor failed due to water intrusion after two years. Took that cute little compressor out and tapped into the Viair onboard system. Super cool. Check my video if you're interested. Also, thanks for the nagging on a proper tubing cutter. Can't tell you how many leaks I've dealt with over the years. Yay for affiliate accounts!
Do anyone know how much weight can a 2011 Silverado 1500 4.6 2w drive pull ? I was thinking about purchasing a 7x12 enclosed trailer wanted to know if that will be cool, thanks
You need to be sure to install the fuse the correct way. Those add a fuse do not protect the new circuit if it is in backwards. Edit: well with the inline fuse then the opposite is true lol.
Hazardra Lawn Care it’s the way the truck was when I got it. If it ever needs new exhaust, I’m going back to stock. I’m over the loud exhaust. Guess I’m getting old.....
It’s been several years but I feel like there was a reason I didn’t put it there…. I could be way off…. I really just can’t remember. I do remember it being really loud inside the cab with where I put it.
You could T off the line but it would only pressurize to the setting of your airbags I set mine up with a direct fitting hook air hose to tire and set the pressure where you want it compressor kicks off when inflated
Isn’t this system designed to run 2 separate airbags? By connecting both airbags to one valve, you hooked it up wrong and created a potentially bad situation for yourself. If your towing under load and you are thrown off balance by a slope, a curve, or an evasive turn, the air in the compressed bag will travel into the bag that is not compressed causing it to inflate and making your situation worse than if you had no airbags at all. The bags need separate feed lines from the solenoid. Those t fittings are meant to add a manual Schrader valve to each feed line Incase the compressor fails.
Kevin this so called "dangerous" phenomenon has plagued the air-spring automotive market for years and years. Every single major air-spring retailer (Etrailer.com, Summit Racing, AirLift, Firestone, Four wheel Parts, Jegs, JC whit) sells tee fittings for air suspensions. YET we still have a secret society that lives among us that believes that people who use Tee fittings cause vehicles to just TIP OVER at the site of uneven terrain. Trust me if this was the case we'd have lawsuit after lawsuit attacking every single manufacture for telling customers to use them. I've spent nearly a decade in the air-spring world and still haven't seen a single vehicle tipped over because of this. If only there was a federally back company that would step in on vehicle safety issues against manufactures..... O wait there is! The Department of transportation! I bet there phone lines are really busy with all these dangerous vehicles tipping over at all the interstate on and off ramps. Man, could you imagine the chaos!! Just 1 ton, 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton trucks everywhere laying on their sides all over the roadways.... My point is that you have absolutely nothing to worry about installing the Tee in the system on your truck. Yes some kits come with separate fill locations, this lower cost kit only has one pressure sensor so it only monitors the one inlet line. Airlift and Firestone both offer a duel system as well that would have the springs separate. Great video! Please do a follow up one to let us know how everything is going.
Awesome sarcasm! The fact is people wreck their trucks and trailers all the time because of this. When it comes to legalities, the cause will almost always be due to driver error as the bags themselves don’t cause crashes. Erroneous driver input usually comes first.
I applaud your efforts so please enlighten me with all you're expertise on this matter. I want to hear in great detail about the "bad situation" involving the addition of the tee fittings. I expect you can tell us all about the flow rates of air pressure through a quarter inch orifice. The velocity of air flow over a 6 foot span from spring to spring and how this directly affects spring rate. I'm sure the department of transportation would never ever make the conclusion that all the vehicle incidents had aftermarket air-springs on them. Just highly paid engineers investigating all these dangerous driving conditions leaving out one small detail? Surely they would never conclude they all the vehicles had aftermarket suspensions on them. Lets get real here can we? You've made a statement clearly based on hearsay with absolutely zero evidence to back it up. Again, a phenomenon that had plagued the air-spring automotive market for years and years without a single sign of evidence. Just keyboard warriors tainting the world with endless nonsense to try to make them feel better about them selves. I just cannot begin to stress enough that these are sold from EVERY SINGLE MAJOR automotive supplier in the market place. Napa, Four Wheel Parts, Summit Racing, Jegs, JC wit, SD truck springs, Amazon, Firestone, Airlift, Airbag Man, etrailer.com the list goes on and on.. I don't feel that these suppliers would sell something if it put customers in a "Bad Situation"... I'm respectfully bowing out of this conversation because its like fighting with a fifth grader about lebron vs michael Jordan. Please do the RU-vid world and favor and consider what your fingers vomit into the keyboard next time. O, if you could please tell the hidden society that Tee Fittings are not the devil of the air spring world that would be great. #common_sense_2018 :-)
Lol, ok take it easy. We are trying to help each other here. Go to this FAQ link and scroll down to the question about adding a t fitting to connect two bags. riderite.com/installation-support?tab=frequently-asked-questions
I was hoping to see your truck and see if its a girly truck a 1/2 ton. I know I was stupid enough to buy one and guess what the just do not carry the weight ! We now use all 3/4 ton trucks and we have never had to add any type of lift system. So I hope your not using a cheap ass 1/2 truck. If you chose to use a 1/2 ton truck and add some type of lift system then you better get ready for some real problems. The axles on the trucks are made for only for so much weight. If you put a lift system on your truck and its a 1/2ton truck and you think you can carry more weight then your stupid. You will blow out the axle seals and in time the axle will cause you a lot more trouble. In simple terms just buy the truck for the amount of weight it is intended for. Good luck .
John Bailey it’s a 1/2 ton or a “girly truck” as you chose to call it. I only put it on there to give it a better ride when pulling a trailer. Definitely not pulling more than the truck can handle. Having it leveled out with the bags when pulling a trailer makes it feel like it pulls better. Not sure if it actually does but it just feels that way to me. 👍🏻
Fall River Lawn Care well I get it because everyone wants to save gas but 1/2 ton truck is ok for starting a biz but keep that in mind. I hope that lift system works out for you. We pull 14 ft trailers enclosed and we use gmc trucks all 3/4 ton. I did star off with 1/2 ton trucks but ran them into the ground in short time. Ours are 2006 and never had and trouble yet. Good luck with your system .
John Bailey I agree, as the company grows I will move up in truck size. For now my plan is to stick with pulling my 12 foot enclosed for the upcoming season. As the company grows I’ll have to grow with it.
Fall River Lawn Care well it will grow mine did. Started when I was 8 and im in my 70s now we have just over 30 accounts and there all prepay. Started prepay about 7 years ago should have done that sooner.
