One of the most majestic, heartfelt pieces from the Baroque Era master, Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on a G String is the second movement in his Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068. Performed on classical guitar, the Air takes on a more intimate and expressive tone.

If you are ever searching for the meaning to life look no further than beginning at 2:43... where the bass line begins to move chromatically starting at F sharp and ends on B natural two measures up.... I can't explain why but that movement is the meaning to life!

Several weeks ago I downloaded a free version of Air on G and really found it uninspired, reduced for simplicity, and very unsatisfying to learn. So, I went searching and landed on the Los Angeles Guitar Academy website where I heard a beautiful version of Air on G and, immediately, purchased and downloaded it. I'm, now, loving every challenging moment I'm putting into learning and memorizing it. I'm so thankful to LAGA for their music and what they are giving to the classical guitar community. Thanks you guys. You're great!

@Jason Lewis - The guitarist is Dr. Emre Sabuncuoglu, the online instructor for the Los Angeles Guitar Academy. He is also the arranger for all of the transcriptions he plays, not to mention that he has a doctorate in music and a masters in mathematics. For those who are not aware I learned in Music Appreciation class 10 years ago, at the ripe old age of 48, that Bach believed and wrote all his music for God. He believed that music was sacred and he wrote his pieces for the church. Thats pretty awesome. and here we are in 2019. I believe!

I still don't get why so many people who should know better continue to incorrectly name this incredible piece of music. Bach's " Air " from his 3rd Orchestral Suite is played in the key of D major, like the video is. Air on a G string is an arrangement by August Wilhelmj late in the 19th century, dropping down one whole note from D major to C major, such as is most commonly played on the guitar. He did it because he realized that in so doing, the entire piece could be played on a single string on the violin, i.e., the " G " string, thus giving his arrangement it's name. Whatever, this piece of music by the master is in my opinion, one of the most beautiful compositions Bach, or anyone, has ever written.

I am still getting the notes under my fingers, but the beauty of Bach paired with this stellar arrangement sustains and rewards practice time. Be prepared to stretch index and ring finger across four frets. The chromaticism/resolutions are achingly good. Notation and tabs well marked. LAGA is a find and not just for crazy advanced pros.

In case y'all were wondering, it's in Drop-D tuning. I just figured it out because the bass at 0:13-0:15 didn't match the fret sound at standard. I'm struggling to learn this and get a clear sound hahaha

Erik fp This kind of thing is good for beginers cause it's a challenge. Sometime ago I tried to take the Villa Lobos choro n1. I wasn't a begginer, but it was too much for my level, so It really was a challenge. But it was my greatest upgrade since then.

This is why I play guitar. To all you who are asking for the tabs and sheet music I have two things. 1) It tells you where to purchase it in the about section. 2) The camera is set up perfectly. You don't need the sheet music or the tab. Watch. Listen. Repeat. Learn. Doing it this way, you will learn the piece better, you will learn the guitar faster, and you will be a better player. That's how I plan to learn it.

That's ridiculous to try and learn it just by watching the video. You'll never get all the intricate details, plus you'll never build the proficiency to learn better and harder pieces. Not to mention it will take forever. It is great to have the videos and thanks to LAGA for providing them. but you definitely need the sheet music or tabs.

To those who are trying to be cheap and figure the piece by just watching the video, I invite you to buy the music, it is much easier and faster to learn. I started the same way, then got tired of the back and forth in playing the video. I made the investment of buying the sheet music from LAGA and Im totally happy I did. I also found out that by just watching the video I was missing notes. The video serves as good guide for me, since I only know how to read tabs. LAGA keep up the good work!

I purchased the score and found that the arrangement is truly serious and effective. You do have changed my concept on the classical guitar repertoire! For those who have difficulty in handling the stretch at 0:22, I'd like to suggest to try changing the left-hand fingering just before it from 1-2-4 to 1-3-4. Then you should concentrate on the stretch of your index finger only. Anyway, thank you for your great works.

The transcription for this is the best I've found, I couldn't figure the timing for this piece for guitar, can't play it all yet, but have got alot further with this tab.

Very, very nice arrangement. Much nicer to my ears than other transcriptions that enable plahing in open position. When I hear those I secretly wish they do the unthinkable urge put a capo on it and get the piece up to proper register. Will be studying this. Thanks heaps.

Just bought the sheet music (including the tabs) for this one and I must say that they're pretty accurate and easy to figure out!! Can't play it yet as perfectly as this master does, but keep improving my technique everyday by practicing and watching the videos!! Congrats for the good work LAGA!!

My comments echo those already posted... That was very nice. GREAT transcription. I have actually searched high and low (unsuccessfully until today) for this version. Most others who have posted this sorta fudge it, and the bass melody is reduced to some repeated notes. I am subscribed and this now resides in my favorites!

J'ai 13 ans, je suis au collège, et je suis la seule de mon age à écouter du Jean-Sébastien Bach. Je ne vois pas pourquoi les autres se moquent de moi, car si ils croient que "Booba" ou "La Fouine" (d'ailleurs je ne sais pas d'où vient ce nom) font de la musique alors qu'Est-ce que sa sera plus tard!

Superb. I really like this version, probably the best arrangement for guitar that I've heard. I spent a lot of effort on learning a version in E minor - which I'm still working on - but I like this arrangement so much that I'm tempted to start again from scratch.
