Hi! So unfortunately, ReST is no longer filling orders. It is unclear as to whether that will change in the future but they had lots of problems fulfilling orders last year. As for a choice between Air-Pedic and Sleep Number, while both a great brands, we do favor Air-Pedic. The quality of the foams are exceptional, they use a reinforced I-beam for support down the center which prevents sleepers from rolling into the center of the mattress and Air-Pedic comes with a 6-chamber air system which allows for customizable comfort in the shoulder and legs, and the lumbar. This is in contrast to Sleep Number’s 2-chamber air system which, at lower number settings can cause a bit of a hammock effect.
Hi! They do not require you purchase their foundation or base though many mattress companies of course recommend it. When you go to purchase I would just confirm what sort of base is required as I have seen some companies that will deny warranty coverage if you aren’t using a base with proper support. This is most often seen with slatted metal frames that have the slats too far apart.
Since you said you tried the 800, curious of the difference in "feel" between it and the 1000? Both my wife and I canNOT stand the "memory foam" type beds that we sink into! Plus, we get VERY HOT in them -- would NEVER have one; NOR do we want the heavy "pillow-top" feel! Consequently our concern when you mention "memory feel" (02:12) that it may be too much like the memory foam beds. We're in conversation with a long time Air-Pedic rep... but trying to find some folks who have actually been using them to hear their feedback -- recommendations / suggestions about the various models. I'm totally sold on their engineering -- just concerned now about deciding on the "best" mattress configuration for our preferences. When I mentioned SO MANY "models" AND concern to NOT have the "memory foam" sinking-in feeling, the Air-Pedic person discussed the 650 and 850 (currently "on sale") and suggested that we check out both a Sleep Number "iLE" (for the 850) and the "PSE" (for the 650) to give us some idea of the feel of the Air-Pedics. We were only on the Sleep Number "i8" in the store -- obviously in part b/c it was on sale... the salesman admitted the most popular... and he's seen more dissatisfied with the "iLE" than the "i8" I was appalled at their price -- good grief $10K for a bed?!!! I shouldn't say this, but reminded me of being in car dealership. LOL We walked out... ;-) We've been VERY comfortable with our Somma California King (tubular) waterbed for 35+ years! (I'm from the farm, taught shop, an aviator and yes, I'm a techy -- I understand how things work AND modify and "repair" almost anything.) I repaired a couple of tiny leaks about 10 years ago and just had to repair another this past month; but otherwise this waterbed has been fantastic! (The key to its longevity is fully dusting the tubes with baby powder/corn starch so the tubes don't stick.) I've adjust the amount water in various tubes over the years to suit our comfort -- most of the time the tubes are very full for FIRM support. However, we're realizing the foam top has seen its better days, and we're noticing more shoulder / hip discomfort when side sleeping..... Soooo, also knowing that a traditional mattress could NEVER compete with the comfort of our waterbed -- we've even tried a few -- an "air-type" bed seems the best option. (At 68, I don't want to have to keep wrestling / repairing / filling tubes anymore! LOL) Therefore, Air Pedic's 3-zone sides makes so much more sense than Sleep Numbers single zone! And in fact, WE found that to be true when we visited a Sleep Number store this past week. Ironically, the salesman "claimed" I was the FIRST person to be more comfortable when he reinflated my side of the bed back up to 90-100! My back got very sore when he reduced the pressure!!! I had lower back surgery many years ago AND the waterbed has been my friend! ;-) Then he raised the foot some, which helped my wife, BUT not me! In fact I got off the bed BEFORE he came back -- said I just couldn't stand it any more! After that experience we decided we probably need to get a full split California King, since I can't stand having my feet raised up. nor my head much for that matter... ;-) Bottom line now... HOW do we determine the proper Air Pedic model??? We need some of the "cushion" for side sleeping, BUT do NOT want that sinking-in so far that we're uncomfortable and roasting! Consequently, since you've tried both the 800 series and the 1000.... your thoughts, suggestions on them? Is the 1000 really worth the price and / or will it be too much like a "memory foam" feel -- sinking in? Again, appreciate your thoughts between models. Plus, have you tried their adjustable base -- The Flex-USA™ Elite adjustable base that comes with massage motors? If so, does the massage really "work"? Much appreciate your review in this video and look forward to your feedback. Blessings - Thanks much!
Hi! So the Air-Pedic 1000 is a great mattress but it is plusher than the 800. Thicker comfort layers which provide wonderful pressure relief but it sounds like may not be the best match for what you’re looking for. I’d recommend the 850 over the 800 based on your preferences. I have not tried the the 650 so I can’t speak on that one. Of the 3, the 850 is the most buoyant which prevents the deep sinkage typically associated with memory foam. Additionally, Air-Pedic does offer an optional airflow transfer system which helps improve breathability for a cooler sleeping experience. Hope this helps!
@@ASLReviews Thanks for your very FAST Reply - Very Much Appreciated! Their current special pricing -- 50% OFF -- for the 850 (nearly $1,000 less than the 800!) really sweetens the pot! AND having just checked out the equivalent Sleep Number, Air-Pedic wins hands-down from our viewpoint -- no real comparison! Again, thanks much! Just ordered the 850 while it was still discounted; and was blessed to receive a military discount!
How does the comfort guarantee work? If we are not comfortable and they ship different foams do we send the original ones back to them? How are shipping costs handled? Just curious if you know anything about this! Thanks!
So I just got off the phone with the manufacturer and they are recommending the 600 for my desired firmness, do you know what the differences is between the different models?
We’ve personally tested the Air-Pedic 800, the 850 and the 1000. The 800 and the 850 are pretty similar, with the 850 having a slightly more buoyant feeling than the 800. The 1000 is the plushest and most luxurious of the 3 with thicker comfort layers! If you’re still having trouble deciding a representative from selectabed can provide you with more feedback on the models we haven’t tested! Hope this helps 🙂
I got one from airbedsunlimited 7 years ago, I got it with the least amount of foam layers possible without creating noise from rubbing on the the air bladder, Series 5 Spinel. The air chamber will take a yet undetermined time to have a problem, foam however can deform and lose it's resilience in 5 years. Before the airbed, I was having to replace our mattress within 5 years, memory foam and laytex mattresses lost their resilience around 5 years. Same for springs in spring beds, most new spring beds gave me problems inside a year. Too hard a bed for me hurt my neck and shoulder, too soft my back, so adjustable works great for me.
Hi, there are air chambers in the mattress beneath where she is sitting. If they aren’t fully inflated, it will give the sinking look that you are seeing. Thanks for watching!
I have tried the sleep number bed. We sent it back because we kept rolling to the middle. Does that happen on air pedic? I already have the adjustable base for a split king. Will that interfere with the warranty of the mattress.
Hi, thanks for watching 😊 in our experience, that has never happened with any of the Airpedic models. Airpedic has a foam that runs through the middle and Sleep Number just has a zipper, which is why there are so many complaints for this. As for warranty, you can put the Airpedic on any flat surface or adjustable base.
@@ASLReviews Select Comfort (aka Sleep Number) used to do their beds this way, with foam that runs through the middle (we owned one). People complained about the hammock affect and now they have a zipper. The foam that Air-Pedic uses is thicker so maybe that's the key.
