👍 maybe you could make some other videos about bird safe household appliances (eg. vacuum cleaners, hairdryers) recommended for bird owners? Or some useful apps?
I got a Levoit Core 200s after watching this video. Thank you so much. As for filters, I have seen that Levoit has quite a range of different ones for different uses, which one would you recommend purchasing?
I haven't! From what I've read it "shouldn't" be an issue, but honestly you just want a purifier with a HEPA and to use the normal features. Nothing else is needed. An ionizer is the most danger feature some have!
We have 3 cockatiels and a Honeywell HEPA filter rated to 465sq ft.. yet it doesn't seem to be enough. Within a few hours of cleaning everything is coated in bird dander again. The room size is well under 400 sq ft so I'm wondering if we just need more filters? Or are our tiels exceptionally dusty?
I have recently just bought one similar to this (the one linked on one of Sophie’s videos, it’s slightly smaller) and I have it running most of the day, is this too much ? I have a cockatiel and a green cheeked :)
I have three budgies... and lung issues.. didn't realize about the dander.. would this help me... I don't want to sell these birds... I love them..... what would you advise.....
Hey Charlane, An air purifier would certainly help. It depends on the issues, but for many common ones the purifier should prevent any major issues. Take a look on my Amazon store or have a browse on the internet to find which you think would suit you best.
I been using the Winix 5500-2 I believe it is called am it covers a large area I have seen the same one I use at a dr office it's a true heppa an the charcoal filter part actually has honey coam thing is filled with actual pieces of the charcoal rather than just a mesh screen the only thing is making sure the ionization thing is turned off but yeah there awesome and I only have the one bird For now lol
How long does the filters last u also how mucth are these about I'm thinking off trying one out for my bedroom as well its farely big tho so would be nice to get one that's still good quality just a little smaller
Hey Andy, The filters should be changed ideally every 6 months BUT if you maintain them and clean them out every once in a while that can be extended a fair bit! I have some in my Amazon store if you'd like to see a few examples. The video covers what you need to look for in terms of aspects to them.
@TheParrotTeacher OK tks. Had 2 little cokitils dumped at pet shop. 3 days ago I told tham I have tham. Thies vidos was super helpfull I'm b2bing all your vidos.
Glad the videos are useful! Lots of cockatiel content on the channel! It’s sad how much this is happening recently I wonder if it’s more covid pets being dumped!
We have a midium size one in the room seems to work good so far when we notice she starts to sneeze, the filter for this one can you reuse and just wash or need to buy new ones every time
Hey Antony, It depends on the size of place you have! This one is good and we use it still but a smaller one may work, or a medium sized one! Have a peek on my amazon store as I have both listed so you can compare!
I bought a 400s today and found out afterwords that there are 2 versions, the one I have has an “optional” ionizer. I don’t know if I keep that off if it will 100% NOT release ions. :( I’m trying to find out from the company but now I don’t know if I should even keep it.
Hey Neither, That's new! When we got one there was just the plain purifier! If it were me, I'd wait to hear from the company and what they say. If it isn't an active component when the purifier is on then it should be fine. It's only if the function is constantly on or has an input into the main purifier filter. Or you could just return it for the other model! I'll be sure to mention it too in the future!
So I got a smaller model for a smaller room. I've used just straight hepa filters with other brands. I liked that, but ended up wanting to try one with a carbon filter. I bought one from this brand and I'm very excited for it. On the other hand it gives off a sweet smell being a new hepa carbon filter. I keep trying to find stuff online to see why that is and if it's OK for the birds room. I'm pretty sure the filter said it's a hepa13. Is that OK for the birds? Do you know why that happens? It was just a very pleasant sweet smell. Idk I'm paranoid about anything that resembles a fragrance. Just looking for more informed info on it.
Hey there, Is it just sweet after the first usage or has this continued? Honestly, this is the first I’ve heard of a sweet smell from one of these filters! We’ve personally had 2 (one small and now this large one) and while initially there was a slight smell it wasn’t sweet to our memory! If it wears off I would say it isn’t a concern, if it stays I’d take a look inside the filter and just Double check it all!
First time running it today ran it for about an hour or so then noticed it. I read your reply then opened up the filter box. Maybe I'll let it run. Honestly I work with animals as well I might just be sensitive to a new thing then. I don't know. Either way thanks for the reply!
Yeah I tried it in different parts of the house but the furnace picked up the sweet smell each time. Contacted the company to ask why or if I'm having a problem or whatever. The auto email service said it could take 2 to 3 days. Soooo we shall see I guess. Thank you.
They sent me a new filter. I ordered mine through Amazon, but contacted the company. The new filter came earlier than expected so their customer service is on top of it. New filter just smells like new plastic. So I would say if anyone has the same problem to contact the company directly. Since it shouldn't have had a sweet smell to it they couldn't answer it. I'm wondering if I accidently got a returned product and someone put some scent in it. I have been reading Amazon reviews from various products and getting a returned item on accident when someone ordered a new product seems like a common mistake. In the future I'm going to see if I can order directly from the company as well. The new filter is fits, but is actually slightly bigger it just has a more snug fit. So I have no idea what's going on with the original filter that came with it. Never had this experience ordering a product off of Amazon before. Either way it was resolve timely thanks to the company.
