Love that you include footage that shows the normal mishaps that happen while hunting and that every shot doesn't go as planned! Glad you got them all!
HuntersVermin Definitely useful. I live on a farm, but with animals and neighbors on the edges of my property, airguns are a lot more safer and practical.
Great video as always, been watching for many years now but rarely comment.. just wanted to give you a big 👍 for the honest footage showing that conditions are not always perfect especially at greater distances
Good video, nice to see someone showing what can happen when things don’t go as planned. So many show a perfect kill first time and in reality that’s not the case.
I don't want to deliberately show things suffering but i hoped people might learn something from my mistakes or at least learn if it happens to them to not panic but quickly reload and look for another good shot to finish things.
Great video, love the humor, and yes, that damn wind at long range can destroy any ones thinking in the field, but once you find the effect on your pellets, it's back to business! And the new kit is pretty awesome! The night vision is so, so worth it! The 8 yard rabbit, WAIT, make it 7 yards, cause of my big feet had me rolling!!! Don't ever change your style, you've been doing videos for a ton of years, keep that narration a comin'!!
Enjoying your videos, thankyou. I like the way you include the misses and how you rectified the follow up shots , talking through it to explain what you changed also. makes it more relatable, I'm sure many just show the perfect headshots which it isn't always. And conditions are rarely perfect either.
Ah i just try and tell it how it is and it wasn't a great display of marksmanship but thankfully i managed to account for everything i shot at that night. Glad you enjoyed it.
Complete respect for your decisions on what you do and don't shoot. Yes the young will grow and reproduce and cause damage to the crop but also I guess you wouldn't want to completely eradicate the species from the area (if that were possible) Continued management will benefit both the farmer and yourself. Really enjoy the videos mate. keep them coming. The Crown looks like an awesome tool but well outside my price range. NI looks like a beautiful part of the world. Not as wet as here in Manchester!
Oh it reminds me of the carry on up the jungle film where the great white hunter Sid James shoots at a lion and misses and his native guide Bernard Bresslaw says you no miss boss lion stand in wrong place.
Nice to see you out doing your 'stuff' David. Quite a set up there with the 'add ons' not dissimilar to my kind of 'ambush' shooting, works fine for me not moving about with conditions playing a big part of the end result. atvb t ..
Glad you liked it tadpole but i think i had too much stuff with me especially attached to the rifle itself just complicated editing with 4 different recording devices.
@@HuntersVermin Mm, have to admit once I have something that works for me I tend to stick with it. No harm in testing out new gear mind .. lol. atb t ..
that is one expensive rifle! here in Canada, no suppressors allowed but that set up is premium here. been watching you for years but rarely comment. Cheers from Ontario Canada!
I don't know what they cost in Canada but they certainly aren't cheap here but thank fully i got a decent price for my Theoben MFR with the trade in which took the sting out of it a bit.
I wonder what the Farmer would have told you to do when you spied those wee little baby bunnies,..." shoot that damned things , they grow up and eat more than you do, you useless sod"! or something like that hahahaha! Great 'truthful' ( and very entertaining ) video , and for this I thank you.
It's good to hear your all well, I have to say we've been very blessed here too as the Big Man upstairs has been looking after the family through this all.
It is not so obvious from the video footage how windy it was. Just goes to show how a little wind affects the trajectory of an airgun pellet in relatively short distances even for a 30 ft.lbs FAC gun. Very good results in difficult conditions.
A great video and some interesting shooting we all miss some times and I like the night vision. So onto the next video .nice to see you are well and do you eat the rabbits take care David
I had the same thing with a bunny recently. Struke it slightly low and it took off! Had to chase it to get a good second shot, and then a 3rd. Its happens. Great video
I shoot with wildmans 25 grain slugs. @ 100 yards even they need some windage allowance and sometimes follow up shots 🤔. Slugs are good but need to bare in mind about windage still!
Great tally for the evening and u failed to sit in anything squishy! I see you have the Hades working well now its time to get the Hybrids going, much less drift (about ⅓) and will put the bunnies down nicely even with a body shot.
HuntersVermin the hades will drop the hoodies very nicely and they are great on Maggie’s too. Crown is a funny beast, unlike the impact you can’t get really silly speed for the slugs so 2 or 3 on the wheel will still shoot pellets at the 850-940 area. Only prob with slugs is where they go if you miss
I’ve watched numerous videos about the FX Crown and your rifle doesn’t seem to be shooting near as well as most and I know it isn’t you because I’ve watched you for year and know you a great shot.
I don't want to deliberately show things suffering but i hoped people might learn something from my mistakes or at least learn if it happens to them to not panic but quickly reload and look for another good shot to finish things.
@@HuntersVermin i know you are a good shot and know your craft but it also goes to show people not to take shot beyond their capability :( ie: people shooting further than they should and even more so when there is a wind up.. the old addage is practice practice and practice some more before shooting live quarry.. the amount that don't check zero is also mind boggling, their attitude oh it is on zero from the last time i was out shooing ? eh maybe no it's not
As always I thoroughly enjoyed the video, thank you. What is the version of the Runcam please David? I've been out hunting Jackrabbits here in the desert of Southern California and I'd like to record the hunts. So far the Jack's are winning, very elucive.
Thanks i believe mine is the RunCam Scope Cam with the 35mm lens and all metal construction but i think they have changed the model since i bought mine.
You should try out the hybrid slugs. Got some in the mail today and they are devastating on small game like starlings. Best birthday present so far today and the 2 lobsters my niece gave me.
Another great video mate Wondering if you’ll be doing another dvd in future If you ever fancy some shooting in Northumberland give me a shout I have a large permission I shoot on for a good friend who is a farmer 👍🏻
Thanks very much Scott i'll keep that in mind. I did start to go through and edit a lot of footage that i had set aside for a possible third dvd and although there is some very good stuff there i did notice that I've left it so long that some of the NV footage filmed on older devices looks very dated compared to the lovely clear NV digital footage you get now so i'm not sure what to do at the minute.
HuntersVermin well I’m sure you’ll do what’s best mate I’ve been following your Chanel from the start and think your videos are cracking so keep up the good work and my offer is there if you ever want to come over mate. Regards 👍🏻
There’s no hypocrisy in refusing a shot you don’t feel good about. Also did it a few times with foxes and such. If it doesn’t sit good with you, it’s better to pass on it. I don’t feel like I have to prove something to myself when hunting, if we gonna applaud ourselves for being able to shoot everything we put our crosshairs on, I’m afraid we have lost the most important aspect of hunting, it’s something we do that comes from deep inside our heart, not a clinical sport that requires you to disregard what your heart tells you.
Thank you that's very true from a sports mans perspective but a paid pest controller not that i am one would probably have to take a different view of things and every body counts so long as its a safe and legal shot that is.
David I’m not being a know all here, cos I’m definitely not. But just make sure u r not canting the rifle when u r using the pard. You seem to be cocking your head more than normal, maybe to get correct eye relief 🤷♂️. When u r shooting the groups do u use the pard? Maybe try a bubble on your set up. Do no harm. Definitely need it when shooting at longer distances. Good luck
Yeah i know what you mean i did practice with the pard shooting prone and found sitting much more comfortable but its still awkward to get a good head position and sight picture.
I remember in one of your older videos you spotted a fox on one of your hunts and was talking about it. In the united kingdom or northern Ireland is it still legal to hunt fox's? Or shoot foxes still if they become a threat to farm birds and small farm animals.
Yes it is still legal to shoot problem foxes but England and Northern Ireland differ a bit on what you can shoot a fox with as i found out not so long ago you can only shoot a fox with a center fire rifle no larger than .22 caliber (i'm not sure about shotguns) but your not allowed to use larger calibers for deer control in Northern Ireland but as far as i know you can use any center fire or rim fire rifle to control foxes in England but i would check that out with the BASC in your area to make sure i'm right.
@@HuntersVermin I know in the states fox can be shot with a small caliber depending the state can be up to 22. but it has to be a one shot kill because a fox has it's uses for market regardless being pest in many states
Why does the age of vermin make a difference? Are they not still vermin? Please explain. You have an excellent chanel, i've been following you for years. Thanks for the shooting videos as well as the how to videos.
Oh its just a personal thing there's nothing illegal about it and as i'm doing pest control i really should be shooting all rabbits but not everyone likes shooting cute baby rabbits.
