"Hollywood" jump (no combat equipment) from a CH-47 Chinook helo during a 1988 peacekeeping deployment/mission in the Republic of Panama. Combination of deployed XVIII Airborne Corps and 82nd troopers.
Please excuse the video quality- I digitized this from a 20 year old VHS cassette that was itself a 2nd or 3rd generation copy I've had since it was made. I added the beginning and end titles and cleaned up the soundtrack as much as possible, but there wasn't much else I am technically savvy enough to accomplish. Thanks.

It looks like Clayton because the field behind our barracks wasn't that big and we didn't have a grandstand behind homeplate on Kobbe. That is definitely Venado DZ though, none of us will ever forget all that ocean so close to that little strip of earth with a rocky road down the middle. 2/187th abn 85-87.

I recall a tower at Ft. Kobbe where the 508th was stationed down there.There also was a tower at Sherman when one of the Group's was based there.

Pretty sure that's the Clayton tower. I recognize the buildings around it. The one we had at Kobbe wasn't that big, or nice. In fact, it fell on my in '89 during a fast roping session.

Fegan67...my brother was with your unit Sgt Barrientes, he use to have this video and there is a second video that you guys got with Panama jumps which accompanied this video. They were destroyed in the fire which started in my brothers room. Today is his bday and I was wondering if anybody in this unit had that second copy. Thank you for downloading this one. He couldn't believe I found it, it had been a while since we last saw this one of him jumping. .. God gave me a great brother, whom I am proud..

That was at Ft Clayton.. I was a crew chief with the Chinook unit at Ft Kobbe.. We didnt have ANY parking lots that big there. And plus.. if it was Kobbe why wouldnt we just have them come to the Flt Line. Not like it was such a huge base

awesome video!! I was stationed at Fort Davis, 3/7 SFG (A) 85-90..... our jumps were at Gatun dropzone from Howard.

Did you know a SSGT Gandy from 3/7 that ended up at Kobbe with the 2/187 (later 1/508)? He was a squad leader in my platoon at A. Co.

The Army was in the process of phasing out the OG 107's (the solid green, old-style jungle fatigues), but they were still allowed at the time of this deployment).

I think it was Kobbe (over by Howard) or Clayton, but that was many moons ago. I'm not sure...sorry.

THE SADDEST part of all this is that it is a bunch of young kids that should be doing something good for their life. The government take advantage of your immature mind and used you as their puppets to do their DIRTY AND CRUEL JOBS.
