You are a gentleman and a scholar. I've been airbrushing a few months and it's fantastic, I managed to purchase my own Badger airbrush just a few weeks ago and it makes the world of difference having a tool of higher quality. I just wanted to acknowledge you gesture to the kid and thank you on his behalf.
Nice!!!! I went to all the airbrush shows in the late 90’ when Atlanta Airbrush Expos where there. Just getting back into it at 66. Looking forward to the journey.
I've studied under this young man two or three times: He is one of the best airbrush artist in the world! You will learn more from him in four and a half days than you will alone in years. I don't work for them, but if you are serious, then go to a Getaway! You will return home and do things you never even dreamed of! Thanks Jonathan!
Very nicely done, and it's good to see someone do such outstanding work with an Eclipse! They're sold as "entry-level" airbrushes, but in the hands of talent they're great airbrushes. I've got mostly Iwatas and a few Badgers and Paasche, but my Eclipse and my HP- B are my workhorses!
title should include "teaser" at the end since this isn't the whole tut. :( Nice control and clearly the pain is very smooth and not drying instantly. I didn't see him pull the needle tip one time. Makes the job crazy easier.
Outstanding :-) I teach simple airbrush to young kids over here in the UK and I totally agree that it's a great way to decent earning career. Keep it up guys.
Hello Mr. Chris Stieglitz. Please accept my wishful blessings for health, happiness and success for you and to those you love. I just have to say. This story is so relative to the capture of your heart when you watch the talent of any airbrush artist. This is so close to the same reasons for my learning this art. My real reason was to support my daughters as a single dad. When 'Airbrush Action' came along? It was the best thing for me ever. I was able to learn from such talents as Terry Hill, Tim Mitchell, Jurek and much more. My first art piece with Terry Hill was the t-shirt art of the beach scene and the awesome twist method with the t-shirt almost like a tie-die. LOL. Our most popular too. Tim Mitchell shared his talent with the awesome golden dragon and Jurek was the realism of a tiger and he even started it upside down. So if you ever consider investing your time of learning and gain more talent? Airbrush Action is the best and most great way to go. It is great that they share their knowledge on here and we did not have this as easy in 1994 at the New Jersey 'Get-Away'. Thank you so much and this appreciation has been well due for over 20 years, Mr. Cliff. P.S. My daughters are well and I am a very proud grandfather. Many Blessings, J. 'SpiritWolf' Vega.
You are right. I've been a pro for 40 years and have never noticed any real difference between cheap and expensive airbrushes except that expensive ones are stupidly costly to maintain. I know that statement will irritate manufacturers and airbrush snobs but it's true.
No such thing as bad work it’s art either way I’m a tattoo artist and every body used to say that guy sucks but I always heard it’s art weather it’s good or bad I’ve tattooed for at least 35 years and now I’m trying to airbrush and I think it helps a little I’m better than wen I first started tattooing and I’m hell bent to get half decent at it I do a little every day I find it relaxing I have a silent compressor so that helps got lots of good paint and good machines I guess you guys call them guns either way I have fun so even if it’s not the best it’s fun and I’m learning by you tube so thank you for all your tips have fun painting
you can get a badger 150 and when you have money buy a sotar needle and front bits+tip and youll fit it to the 150,,with that youll have the best airbrush..or if you like gravity feed buy the sotar and youll never be disappointed
That Jonathan guy ain't so good.....sike...This dude's one of the best airbrush artist on the planet...period. Continued success to you Jonathan!......Nigel
I barely started on airbrushing and i wanted to start on shirts but for now im using acrilic paint so i was wondering what kind of paint would you recommend or what works best?
hi i m from india i just only now about air brush painting from this video i would like to buy a air brush gun so i m just beginner what other equipments will be needed with the types of color n all information can u give me ??
@ganstaboii2332 harbor freight tools has airbrushes for15 dollars or go to ebay. but dont get frustrated with cheap ones they just dont work like the good ones but they will get you started. you can also get the brand that starts with a p pascae or something those are good starter brushes
I'm tiered of producing digitial art on a tablet, I've been doing it for the past 4 years and feel that it is lacking depth, although programmes like photoshop offer so many tools at your disposal there is nothing like producing physical work. I'm considering picking up an airbrush ASAP but I do not know what airbrush would be best for me to buy? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I just ordered your video. I have tried to airbrush for a few months but I think my airbrushes are too cheap and I can't afford the expensive Iwata airbrushes. Is there a cheap brand that works pretty decent?
hello there young man I'm gonna be ordering more airbrushes, in the next month or so and when I do I would like to give you one. is good to know someone your age wants to become an airbrush artist is an awesome trade.a ticket to hollywood any time just be patient with me as I 'm geting ready to open my store for the season.I recommend you get subscribed to airbrush technique magazine ,and post some of your art work and its free you'll find lots of tips there don't be afraid to show your talent..
@jonathanpantaleon I cant find them :\ Can you please tell when you are going to release ur DVD and can u ship to Europe (Bulgaria) ? Also price.. a little intro of it maybe
+gastolavic It's finding the sweet spot between reducer, paint, and air pressure. Also, I use HOK and if I let it sit for just a little while it seems to "mix" better. Dunno, I feel your pain and still struggle. Good luck!
Correct, one does go through a few needles and a tip or two when learning to airbrush with the aircap off for better detail. But eventually you get used to it, I very seldom snag a needle on anything anymore and I use Olympos MP-200C Microns--the needles on them have such a long, fine taper that they protrude twice as far out the tip of the gun than any Iwata. But the detail capability and quick trigger response of the Olympos is beyond compare!
No... :) There are many ways to transfer an image onto your item to be painted... and that is when the magic starts. Airbrushes actually do the paint magic themselves if you are patient and determined. Drawing is harder, in my opinion.
I've been airbrushing for over 27 years. My advice, STAY AWAY from gravity feed airbrushes. Use bottle feed. You get a much faster color change and less waste. Use a 5mm tip and needle and run your airbrush at 40psi.
not really the case, With a bottom or side feed airbrush you loose every time in airtighteness resulting more difficult suction of the color to the airbrush. For sure color change is faster asuming that you have to change bottle every time. but in fine arts that's not the case. Besides all bottom feed airbrushes come with thicker nozzles not a match with a fine detail airbrush nozzle and what they can do i one wants detail. Every serius studio should have 3-4 airbrushes for different color and uses.
I am sure you meant .5mm (as in "point five milimeters"), 5mm is almost a quarter of an inch, and 40psi might be a bit too generic, not all paints are diluted equal, not all surfaces require that much pressure, and not all airbrushes work the same. 27 years?..... really?
great airbrush artist, but i must say his dvd's were incredibly weak. He did hardly any speaking in the tiger video. I was very dissapointed. He has skills though, I won't deny that.
you only suck at drawing if you haven't practiced. any artistic medium is the same way. you don't fall out of your mom a brilliant artist, you need to put in the effort
scud69er not as much as you might think. and airbrushing is a LOT different than drawing with pen and paper - you have a lot less control over what you're doing, it takes a lot of delicacy and finesse.

I'm only 12 and i want to get into airbrushing at an early age so i can get more experience doing this. I've been into drawing alot and i want to start doing airbrushing this video helped alot exept...i don't even have an airbrush kit or airbrush or anything. :( they are exspensive because my parents do not have much money neither do i so i am going to have to save up a long time to be able to get one but my mom got me a kid kit at like $20-$30.It wasnt much money so i am happy with it for now.
hey man i was wanting to ask a question, im 15 and am really in to drawing and stuff like that and i dont have any money neither does my parents but im good at flames and stuff like that and i was wanting to know the basics of a airbrush like can you change the spray nozzle on one and what makes a difference when you turn the air pressure down and also Do you have to have more than one airbrush to do certain jobs... And could you give me tips on how to cut a print out so i can start to airbrush
Relate to the fact nobody wanted to teach him anything...I learnt airbrushing in the same way. I phoned the local Art College in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1990 and they didnt know what airbrushing was!!...taught myself, and ended up doing one of the best trucks in Scotland, scenes from the movie "Braveheart" on a Scania rig.
You have inspired me to get into airbrush art. My husband is a graphics designer, so it will be nice to find my own thing. I have a very basic badger airbrush gun, but what type of thinner do you use? Can I just use basic acrylic paint in an airbrush gun? What would you recommend for beginners? I appreciate your help...beautiful feather!
one of the best and most instructional times I ever have done is attending the AA get-a-way in Vegas a few years back. Working under Jonathan and others at the event was a definite boost to my Airbrush chops. Having a marketing and design (advertising design) business, the fine art side of my creativity is enhanced by time spent at that Get-A_way!! Loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.
