About A220-300
The Airbus A220, previously known as Bombardier CSeries (or C Series), is a family of narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range jet airliners marketed by Airbus but designed and built by the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace.
The 108 to 133-seat A220-100 (formerly CS100) made its maiden flight on 16 September 2013, was awarded an initial type certification by Transport Canada on 18 December 2015 and entered service on 15 July 2016 with Swiss Global Air Lines. The 130 to 160-seat A220-300 (formerly CS300) first flew on 27 February 2015, received an initial type certification on 11 July 2016, and entered service with launch customer airBaltic on 14 December 2016. At service entry operators realized a 21% lower fuel burn for the CS300 in replacing 32-year-old Boeing 737-300s, with a dependability above 99.3%, and 25% lower costs than the RJ100 for the CS100, while the passengers' and pilots' feedback is positive for the cabin and flight controls.
Airbus purchased a 50.01% majority stake in the CSeries program in October 2017, with the deal closing in July 2018. As part of the deal, Bombardier retained a 31% stake in the aircraft and Investissement Québec retained a 19% stake. Airbus plans to open a second assembly line for the aircraft at its Mobile, Alabama factory.
About Embraer E195
The Embraer E-Jet E2 family are medium-range jet airliners developed by Embraer, succeeding the original E-Jet. The program was launched at the Paris Air Show in 2013. The first variant, the E190-E2 took its first flight on 23 May 2016 and was certified on February 28, 2018 before entering service with Widerøe on 24 April.
Embraer could directly challenge the CSeries with a clean-sheet five-abreast design for 100 to 150 passengers but Airbus launched the A320neo in December, including the 124-seat A319neo, and Boeing launched the re-engined 737 MAX the following year, so Embraer kept focusing on the large regional jets and launched an extensive revamp of the E-Jet family beyond a re-engine at the November 2011 Dubai air show.

The EMBRAER E195-E2 is more modern, comfortable and beautiful, with the price of three Bombardier A220 buys four E2. We are talking about regional airplanes, in this field, exchange autonomy is not the main one, but comfort, modernity and low cost. E2 is the winner.

What you E2 supporters don't understand is that when Canadair/Bombardier gave their specs for a new "fuel efficient" geared engine to PW they choose a thrust ratio that would optimism speed and altitude performance. This increased the number of regional fights an aircraft could make a day, while also allowing higher altitude airports. They weren't idiots. They knew they already had a more fuel efficient engine so they asked what was more important, being the most efficient or being efficient and flexible. Embraer came along second and were already where known as the cheaper sticker price plane manufacturer and so chose the specs to keep that market differentiation. They have a plane with an engine that is cheaper to purchase (giving the entire aircraft a lower sticker price), more economical to fly, and slightly quieter than the other new quieter fuel efficient engine on the market. But it can't fly as fast, and can't fly out of some high-altitude airports. So it will make fewer short haul flights for you in a day into fewer airports and on long haul flights your customers will notice significantly longer flight times. If I was a new airline specializing in mid-haul flights to cheep holiday destinations I'd choose the E2. But if you're a big airline with lots of regional flights to fill a day the performance of the CSeries/A220 makes you much more money over the life of the aircraft. The reason the A220 only has a 1000 orders so far is because the other airlines who hesitated can't afford to wait for new aircraft.

@AI - 07TW - Balmoral Drive Sr PS (1403) Well, orders defines the succes of a model in the end. And so far, the A220-300 alone has 2.5 times as much orders as the entire E2 family. Which is somewhat ironic, because Embrear decided consciously to not go into this market segment because they feared the wrath of the Airbus and Boeing when they would compete against the A319NEO and the 737 MAX7. Turns out, that would have been the more profitable thing to do and now they have to deal with them in one way or another anyway. Especially Airbus is now a huge problem for Embrear. Airlines never pay list prices for aircraft because they almost always buy them in packages. Airbus can offer way more attractive packages to airlines than Embrear this ever could. "Oh look, if you Buy 10 A220-300, we offer you 2 additonal A321NEOs for a very good price inclusive crew training to expand your operational capabilities." Embraer on the other hand only has the E2 familiy for sale.

@@shi01 Embraer do not feared nothing, they just had evaluate the risk to go, or not go, into bigger market airplanes. What they really do is evaluated there is an unexplored and "more easy" market to jump-in and like "VAR - Value At Risk" and take risks to invest on new projects,! What is brilliant and has all to do with how a corporate take decisions. About number of Orders, I only partly agree with that! But for sure, orders in the airlines point-of-view have much more other variables than just cost and fuel consumption. Example: airplane specs in line with the airline company goals, maintenance cost, maintenance support from the manufacturer, lifespan, airline country? What? (yes! There is allowance, protective laws, and government subsidies in this kind of businesses), fleet profile of the airline (airline organizational process assets), and much more...

@@pedraoo8694 the us mad 350% taxes on planes not built in the us becuase boeing complaint about the the cs plane beeing sold do cheap. Then bombardier called airbus to help because airbus has factories in the us. So i think that is very fair. Because rhe airplanes dont sell better because they are airbus branded but because they have a reasonable price now.

EMBRAER by far, I remember when they launched their twin prop Bandeirantes. Later they offered their Brasilia of which I have personally seen used by United airlines & know it flew for American Eagle. EMBRAER has worked very hard to get where they are at! Oh, I was forgetting about their EMB 314 super Tucano & their new bi-turbine cargo jet KC 390 which is a good option for the northern Canadian airlines, it would make a great combi & land on their gravel runways with ease!!

@@mnoei8705 Possibly but it is de Embraer which wins from a passenger's point of view. Passengers hate a middle seat. That the lavatory is smaller than the A220's is not really important; you don't have to sit there for up to two hours.

Actually no it doesn't. Because the A220 has a larger wingarea and stronger engines it has a considerably shorter takoff roll if you compare the E195-E2 with the A220-100 which are the two versions which come closest to each other in terms of passanger capacity. The A220-100 nearly needs 500 metres less runway for takeoff at maximum take off weight.

Embraer scored in it's decision of just improving it's previous, but still young plane, doing a great job in that, holding a great price and profit due to low investment. I'm proud of Embraer. It's history is really great, decades of hatd work , State School of Aeronautics, the most difficult course to be accepted in. Who could believe one day we would become an important western player in this so great technological sector ? And their planes are safe ..................

Muitas empresas comprarão o a220 por levar mais passageiros, eles não se importam com o conforto dos passageiros, porém, se dependesse apenas dos passageiros eles sempre escolheriam o e195 porque ninguém gosta de viajar no assento do meio.

Thanks to Brazilian engineers, Bombardier/Airbus managed to at last finish their C-Series jet. It has a lot of reliable and intelligent solutions systematically employed by the Brazilian manufacturer. That being said, I would surely stick to the original and legitimate thing - Embraer E2 195. It is unique, it has the right size, it displays the necessary features for a regional jet and, regarding cost and benefits, it is a true winner. With the C-Series, Bombardier tried to squeeze itself in-between Embraer's E series jets and Boeing's/Airbus' entry-level widebodies. What did Bombardier accomplish? A higher-cost aircraft, which isn't as lightweight as regional jets should be, nor appear to be the best value for an airline's money. We can also add that the Embraer E2 jets, as it happened to the predecessor series of jets, is a family of aircraft that shares the exact same technology, solution, parts, and maintenance procedures. All in all, just go for the true best: Embraer E2 195. It is the one.

I would prefer E190-E2 over E195-E2 because the E190-E2 burn less fuel than E195-E2, A220-100 & A220-300 and has much longer range than these three Aircrafts. E190-E2 will be a cost effecient Aircraft in the market. As a Passenger I would like to have larger windows and Embraer is best in that.

Cost per unit Embraer is much better , but A220 is more versatile can do longer flights and can carry more passenger is very difficult to choose one,It is incredible that it is much more comfortable to travel in an E2 or in a C series with seats much wider than 18 inches the C sreries with 19 inches, the famous 787 are only 17 inches wide for flights of 15 hours and the Max with only 17 inches😂

I watched this on 25 Apr 2020, a day or two after Boeing announced they were pulling out from acquiring 80% stake in Embraer Commercial. A very sad moment indeed for Brazil, as this botched merger was highly likely to give Airbus Canada (Airbus/Bombardier) a good run for their money. Anyway, I hope Embraer would pick themselves up, re-strategize, and continue to be a third disruptor in the Boeing - Airbus dominance. Also, Embraer stands to be a global leader in regional aircraft marketshare with the right kind of marketing, given the fresh and winning look and price of the E2. Notwithstanding it's shorter flying distance compared to the A220-150, the E2 wins on many other fronts: leg room, entertainment centre, interior aesthetics, etc. I hope South African Airlink, which has a huge fleet of the old Embraers would invest heavily on the E2s. The skies of the whole southern African region would be delighted to host the E2s. I would not agree about performance. E2 performs better on short-hauls (under 500nm), while A220 is better for medium hauls (above 1000nm). It is being used for medium-haul like RIX - DXB, where demand is not big, but distance not small.

I flew by KLM from Amsterdam to Budapest in an Embraer, I believe a 190 E2 and it was a surprise the biggest legroom. It was a pleasant trip, and it’s still cheaper and at the same technological level as the Airbus.

Well, the A220 has a larger cross section, wider seats with a 3-2 design. MTOW and range quite a bit more with the A220, not to mention more seating capacity. Better wing design on the A220 with far better flightdeck design than the E195-E2. The E series is still a regional design, and an upgrade, not a new platform.

Politics might favor A220 with both Europe Air bus and United States and Canadian manufacture behind it. But if the E jet has the range to cover your routes easily as say with in New Zealand or flying the Tasman , it would be hard to go past it, especially considering the price. Both are good aircraft.

I think the E-2 is most advanced and have a great cost-benefit perfomance ! But, the choice must be made for the target of the buyer. If the airline company is targeting to satisfing their customers, the Embraer is the prefered, no doubt.

Why every comment on this vid e195 e2 is the best The a220 is expansive but clean and comfortable in the inside And 2000miles more range for 30 mill more then the E195 Well I’m not disrespecting people that like e195- e2 I’m just saying that people should give airbus a chance And it’s also like a a350 or 787 in the inside So give it a chance

Airbus planes got mind of its own It's really hard to crash the Airbus planes Bec it can save it self It's the same thing that saved Sully and the passengers,the plane lifted itself so it slows down and make the impact lighter and Bec of this everyone onboard survived If you think about safety and lives I go buy Airbus planes as it saved a Thousands and thousands lives

A220 is better in terms of Distance covered, little expensive but overall it will be more cost effective. Even Airliners currently flying Airbus will be able to train their Pilots more easily as they will be able to transition to Larger Aircraft seamlessly. More R.O.I for airliners in the Long Run.

The Bombardier C-Series is now owned and manufactured (for the most part) by Airbus under the new A220 brand. But it is not an Airbus design. Maintenance and pilot training will not cross over as it did between some of the Airbus variants.

First off, GREAT VIDEO!!! While it would seem that the Airbus A220 is more versatile, i.e. higher take off load, longer range, etc, you could scrounge for another $4M and buy two Embraer E175s or almost two E195s!!!! Wow!!! I'm impressed with Embraer!!! If I was starting a new airline, I would also go with the Embraer offerings!!!

Both Jets are a marvel of engineering.....and good looking too. I think they both have a place in the market. It doesn't matter.....just the fact that these two planes are competing with each other is fantastic. It's good to have a favorite Jet to cheer for but remember, competition is great for innovation. Good for the Jet carriers and finally good for the consumer. I hope both Jets do well.

The E195 is by far the better looking airplane overall. That 3-2 seat configuration on the A220 is so odd and unbalanced. I don't know what they were thinking? The E2 is really cool, and I like the 2-2 seat configuration and from what I read it is a more efficient plane. Spirit Airlines is considering this one and it would look really cool totally yellow. Plus the A220 costs in the neighborhood of 30M more so I don't get that. This market of planes aren't typically used for long hauls, so I don't think the range will matter for a lot of airlines. I'd love to take a ride in the new E2, it looks awesome!

​@Canadian The E2 is more spacious for length. I am sure both are very nice, but I'd take the E2 if I could choose. The interior of the E2 looks awesome, and the 2-2 configuration is appealing to me. The way the isle splits off of the c series is really odd, and then you always have the 3rd seat thing if you are going with a spouse, partner, friends etc. The E2 just looks way more modern to me and is really efficient and I think that is great. The E2 just seems like it brings back the fun in flying to me. The c series not so much. Just cramming in an extra seat because we could.

What you E2 supporters don't understand is that when Canadair/Bombardier gave their specs for a new "fuel efficient" geared engine to PW they choose a thrust ratio that would optimism speed and altitude performance. This increased the number of regional fights an aircraft could make a day, while also allowing higher altitude airports. They weren't idiots. They knew they already had a more fuel efficient engine so they asked what was more important, being the most efficient or being efficient and flexible. Embraer came along second and were already where known as the cheaper sticker price plane manufacturer and so chose the specs to keep that market differentiation. They have a plane with an engine that is cheaper to purchase (giving the entire aircraft a lower sticker price), more economical to fly, and slightly quieter than the other new quieter fuel efficient engine on the market. But it can't fly as fast, and can't fly out of some high-altitude airports. So it will make fewer short haul flights for you in a day into fewer airports and on long haul flights your customers will notice significantly longer flight times. If I was a new airline specializing in mid-haul flights to cheep holiday destinations I'd choose the E2. But if you're a big airline with lots of regional flights to fill a day the performance of the CSeries/A220 makes you much more money over the life of the aircraft. The reason the A220 only has a 1000 orders so far is because the other airlines who hesitated can't afford to wait for new aircraft.

Confort wise there’s no way to compare, for the passenger the Embraer E195 will always be the champion. You’ll never get that private jet feeling inside the Bombardier.

Airbus SUCKS! The Embraer is a better designed aircraft that cost far less than the government built Airbus, what a surprise. I guess Airbus needs to make up for all that lost revenue from the now defunct Airbus 380.

Many companies will buy the a220 for taking more passengers, they don't care about the comfort of the passengers, however, if it depended only on the passengers they would always choose the e195 because nobody likes to travel in the middle seat.

Two amazing aircrafts but I would give the C Series a slight edge over the E2. But if had my own airline I would have them both in my fleet serving the regional markets.

There is many factors and variables but in the end, most importantly it depends on route that plane is used and it's passenger loads. For shorter route Embraer performs better in trip cost basis which is important in long run for airline economics. But if you fly longer route, Embraer can't do the job so then the winner is A220. In same route, the passengerloads play huge role. If there is demand for A220-300, then fine, but if you fly A220-300 on route where load factors shows more suitable for A220-100 size aircraft, then all unnecessary and unfilled seats just increases your operating costs. Also another factor is the maintenance: intervals and cost of maintenance. In that light, Embraer wins as it's maintenance is cheaper to perform. Airline also might get better deal/discounts from another plane manufacturer. If A220 series come very popular, that ofcourse then increases their availability (building slots) and thus increses prices. It in another hand can make Embraer cheaper to purchase and also faster to get from production line. Personally I like a lot A220 and I think it is hottest thing on commercial plane market at the moment, but I can accept that it is not the best tool for profit making for every domestic and regional routes.

Many passengers make some misconceptions that needs clarification: 1- The pitch (legroom) is actually defined by the operator (airline), not the manufacturer. The manufacturer shows on its promotional videos the maximum pitch and width conceivable for the airline to choose whether they will pass on the comfort to the passenger or they will try to squeeze an extra row or two and perhaps charge lower prices. 2- The entertainment system is also a brochure offer by the manufacturer. It is up to the airliner whether they will equip every seat with the displays, and also the offering of satellite TV, and internet service. 3- Performance figures shown in brochures are a bit dicey. Every manufacturer jots down figures like range, speed, take-off distance, etc. but very often don´t even mention on small print at what conditions those were measured or estimated - Headwind or tailwind? Maximum weight or typical operational weight? Hot or cold weather? High or low airport altitude? All these and many more parameters change an aircraft actual performance. 4- At the end of the day an airline doesn´t choose an aircraft because they are beautiful or have the greatest maximum performance, but mostly based on the route density they are trying to fly, the return of investment per seat, how hard it is to break even on a trip cost, and other costs such as maintenance, fuel, ease of finance, resell value, etc. etc. etc.

lol I hope you're trying to be funny. If not let me explain. Bombardier was going bankrupt waiting for C-Series orders to pick up so they had to sell their brand new aircraft design to AirBus (at first 51% then later the remaining 24% they owned ((a Quebec Canada Retirement fund owns the remaining 25%)). The C-series was then rebranded the A220. But they are the same aircraft. If they ever stretch the A220-100/300 to a A220-500 as AirFrance has requested this will the only variant not whole designed by Bombardier.
