Newbies should read this...Do not trust a sharpie-identified piece of aluminum! To identify the type of aluminum and thickness, only use the official stamp on the aluminum! Well, you _can_ measure it with a caliper, but type should only come from the stamp (an ink-stamped area of information for every piece of aluminum). When a sheet or piece of aluminum is cut, leave the stamp and don't cut it out, it should be the last piece cut. A tape measure is not acceptable for precision measurement. Always use a rule, or calibrated caliper. On a shear, you should always use the side of the blade that's closest to the table. I like to use a die grinder with a fine grit sanding disk for radius, much easier. What about rivet size, and it's relation to hole size? What hole diameter are you drilling at first? And why? I know it's a #40, .098, and then you use a #40 cleco for that hole. I know this is just a basic classroom project, but these are basic, important things being left out that beginners should be practicing from the start.
@@Vgk36 Sorry, no. I wouldn't trust a You Tube video, especially when starting school. Just this one video here has left out lots of important information. Listen to your instructor and use FAA & school approved literature & videos. You can get information overload, and You Tube videos are likely to disagree with your school. The FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician Handbook for General, Airframe, and Powerplant you'll be seeing a lot of, and I would recommend everything in those publications as well as videos those books or your school utilize or recommend.
I realize this is an old video, but it would be good if you would make the work sheets you are using available so that we could follow along with you. PDF files would be good. Thanks
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Jason Miles I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I’m currently attending the a&p program at Wayne community college. I just took general, now I’m in Airframe one. It’s moving fast😅. We have a 100 rivet project coming up. Wish me luck.
Great introduction video! I have to say that as European, I have to wonder how you want to do all this work in inches when millimeters would be much more sensible unit for this kind of work.
It would have been nice to have a proper explanation about the differences between the blind rivets for aircraft use vs regular hardware store stuff. Is the more expensive stuff about better quality assurance and certification only, or are there any design or material differences?
