Now you can build and fly your own piece of Aviation History. And, at a price less than what you'd pay for a used car. (And, not a used BMW either.) Airdrome Aeroplane's kits of some of the most famous planes used in WWI will have you in the air in a fraction of the time needed to build other WWI replica aircraft. No hunting for parts or waiting for shipments.
Welcome to Airdrome Airplanes featuring our 75% and full-scale scale flying replica kits. Our aircraft cover a wide range of historical aviation. From the most recognized aircraft flown in World War One, the scarlet red FOKKER DR-1 TRIPLANE flown by The Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen, to the most technologically advanced aircraft to come from the great war effort, The FOKKER D-VIII PARASOL (AKA The Flying Razor).
Also available is the FOKKER E-III, EINDECKER the first plane to mount a synchronized machine gun and the FOKKER D-VI, the precursor of the FOKKER D-VII, probably the best performing aircraft used in the war by the German War Machine. Airdrome Airplanes full scale offerings are the Nieuport 24, Nieuport 17 and the Fokker Triplane. Check out our 80% scale Fokker D-VII.
Also available from Airdrome Aeroplanes is the Dream Fantasy and FULLY, FAA PART 103, LEGAL Dream Classic Ultralight.
Airdrome Aeroplane's kits are COMPLETE. All nut, bolts, rivets, gusset plates, machined plugs, tubing and any other hardware are included in the kits. You also get a photo CD and a DVD or VHS building video. If you really want to "hit-the-ground-running", ask about arranging a "builder's assist" session with Robert at this plant. After two days, you'll have a fuselage sitting on the gear. After 4 days you will have a complete airframe.
YOU can build and fly your own piece of Aviation History in less than 400 hours. No special tools or skills are needed to construct your own personal fighter. Full kits are available with all machined and welded parts supplied with the kit. Construction videos are also available and Airdrome Airplanes offers excellent builder support.

Great interview with the folks at Aerodrome!! Boy has he given allot of interviews or speeches about Aerodrome over the years because he has it down to a science!! No pun intended. Commonality among design & manufacturing is key to keeping cost down and profits up.

If I had the money I'd have this man build for me an SE5a. What a great look into the joy of aviation.

That red triplane is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I love how they use aluminium frames instead of wood as it keeps build-time down and longevity. Super cool planes and company.

I love all of these designs! Great choice and easy to build without charging an arm and a leg, truly getting rarer and rarer in the kit built scene unfortunately.

I'm of the same mind. I really want to fly WWI planes and I hope this company is around for just a little longer until I can complete my pilot training.

Great video Robert. As you, built a lot of balsa Guillows World War I kits as a child growing up. As you too,was a trade tool room machinist, and now retired. Have you thought of building a kit based on the Bristol Scout D?

I used to work for Stahl over in Kingsville and drove through Holden every day. Several years ago I discovered there was an airplane factory in Holden. There are a few "cow pasture" airfields in that part of MO. When I was a youngster, I got to ride with a few pilots out of grass strips. That was the best kind of flying, low and slow. There were still a lot of towns when I was a kid with the town name on the water towers. My Dad joked that IFR originally meant "I Fly Rails." That was when almost every small town was connected to a railroad track.

Are these kits only available as Build-Yourself or is there an option to purchase them pre-assembled i.e the skeleton of the aircraft, with the fabric and paint being applied by the buyer?

Are Airdrome Aeroplanes legally considered ULTRALIGHTS or full sized General Aviation passenger aircraft? Will I need a pilot's license to fly their planes?
@SoloRenegade

Dream Classic can be an Ultralight in the US. the rest are Experimental/Homebuilt.

Plasma cutting 6061 aluminium? Never heard of that. Doesn't it seriously the strength of the metal?
@SoloRenegade
@SoloRenegade 3 года назад
Bandsaws heat the metal. Have you heard of a laser cutter? It's not going to mess up the material. Plasma cutting and laser cutting are industries standards across the globe.

When are you going to design a Spad 13…80 % with a Rover V8…???
@GaryArmstrongmacgh

As far as for model kits...it seems like the French planes are the hhardest to find actual paint sets for. All the rest? Easy! I'd love to get some advice from Mr. Beaslee...if he'd oblige a model builder.
