I got my mother to buy me this kit in 1974 (when I was 10), because it had wheel 'trousers'. I think they look great on a plane. Another great example is the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka.
April 10, 2022---Started buying/building kits when I returned to the states from Panama. I still have a lot of those kits unbuilt, sitting in many cardboard boxes in a shed in my backyard. Thing is, you can build an Airfix kit out of the box and it'll look okay, but if you want to become a better modelers, you learn how to scratch build so it's more accurate. This is why I want to learn cad so I can design interiors for these old kits, but make 'em state of the art.
Yeah kinda agree.. but airfix and the like have always taken a battering about how accurate a model is.. and 80 percent of the whats in the cockpit is never seen again
It’s a simple, chunky kit that goes together really well, although I messed up the paint job trying to find the right green/grey. I think mine came in the big Pacific set which I eventually donated to the local hospice shop. Worth having a crack at in my opinion, while watching Tora Tora Tora!
Built this in the '70s when it was included in MPC's diorama set "Pearl Harbor Attack"...came with a set of Airfix figures and a vacuform diorama base (this particular one had a destroyed P-40 molded into it, representing one of the airfields attacked). Val was molded in green back then. Remember it being pretty basic even for a 10-12 year old me!
@@MOS6510Models looking at one now, D-Day with a DUKW, British commandos and a vacuform beach. Remember a WW I one my brother had... Sopwith Camel, Fokker Triplane, British infantry and a vacuform trench section. Trying to paint those bases to look realistic was a challenge...to say the least!
@@MOS6510Models fantastic.. Going to hunt 2 of these down.. 1 for the "to build" stash and the other for my "keep in box" stash... I really hope they reissue the Fouga magister in the vintage classic line.
The painting instructions have two different black cowl painting guides for the side profiles. The top down view doesn't show the anti-glare swept back black (lower left side profile) one just the top right black cowl one. Misprint maybe?
Mixed thoughts on these 'vintage classics. They would be a bit better if we weren't charged a premium price for 50-60 year old tooling ! I can't imagine how many times this mould has been used.
I dunno matey.. I think models all round will rocket in price because of shipping.. Just looking at averages of pricing on models, a tenner is a sweet spot, but thats my opinion lol
Way too "classic" to put on shelf next to modern highly detailed neat models )) Though I made one "nostalgic" build of FROG Vengeance (and it was realy great like going back to childhood) but used it as test dummy for colouring ))
This was the first model i bought back 2012 in the red box. I bought a second one at the beggining of the year, edition from the 80s quite overpriced :/
Honest opinion. Its a bit naff lol. Sorry. Nowhere near being worth £10 either. Plus Airfix have the cheek to charge you £3.95 to post it to you. It can be had on Amazon & Ebay for £11.95 with free P&P. So you can save a couple of quid. But its not for me. It would look pretty crap built and painted IMO.
Its all about personal opinions matey.. I think its a good Mojo build and one i would be happy to send to someone looking for a build.. I think you will find that pricing will rise seeing shipping costs is rising everywhere.. 8k for a container from china now.. India isnt that far behind.
