I had this catalogue when I was 9 (in 1973) and I used to love drawing the aircraft from it. My favourite aircraft to draw was the 1/24 Hurricane. There was a painting competition in my primary school (in 1974 ) and I entered it. I decided that I would paint the 1/24 Hurricane. I painted it from memory. I knew every inch of that plane. It wasn't Roy Cross standard, but it looked really good, especially coming from a 10 year old. A couple of weeks later, my little class buddies ran up to me in excitement and said that I had won the competition. Everybody thought it looked great, especially the teachers. The prize was great too, it was £5.00. A lot of money in 1974. I don't have the painting anymore, which is a shame, but I have that great memory.
This is the one I've been waiting for - thanks so much for showing these catalogues. As a 10/11 year old I knew this catalogue inside out back in the day, and have built lots of the kits from it. I lost the catalogue many years ago and have been looking for a copy to buy, so it's been great to look through it again now. Very nostalgic, thanks again.
I remember as a kid my dad bringing this home, used to save my pocket money to buy the boxes of soldiers, both sizes, I used the 1/32 to play outside with my friends and 1/72 to play indoors, also I got the FAL Rifle in the back of the catalogue for christmas, great memories.
They have been fun to film and going over these from my collection. Hope you will subscribe and watch the other catalogues i have filmed on the channel
Made so many of those kits, then school / uni studying got in the way and I found I had no time and stopped. The only one I have left, built with the original box, is the human skeleton. Wish I’d kept the rest, but that’s a lifetime ago. Great memories.
Probably I've got one of this catalogue, 72 to 75.... Airfix Catalogues at that time and in my region was a pretty precious and rare stuff. A lot of memories.... I was pretty young.

@@MOS6510Models even just from the 1/72 aircraft line up in this catalogue i noticed a LOT of subjects Airfix haven't done for some time....some they haven't done for years and i really dont know why..
Back in 1973 I was a three year old Pork! As I got older and started building kits, I used to love the Airfix Apollo kits. I made a load of Saturn V’s, Lunar Modules and even the recovery helicopter, but in Brighton I could never find the Vostok rocket or the Saturn 1B; my parents searched high and low, but never found them!. Great video, thanks for this
thanks a lot for sharing, more easier on RU-vid to consult models catalog than internet, so thanks again : please from OO/HO sodiers figures, the afrika korps is showing a drawing front cover box with an officer inside kubelwagen : never seen this boxart before, so is it a prototyp or really produced with this artbox ? take care dear Fellow...
I've built a fair few of those 1/32 scale cars like the DB5, Beetle and Ford 3litre GT. Unfortunately all were up to date "starter sets". In my opinion, the tooling is now no longer good enough, especially for beginners.
