As a student pilot I requested my cfi to let me do it. I didn’t even know it was a maneuver nor that it was in the acs. This the only way to feel and learn the adverse yaw hence knowing how the rudder works and how to intuitively time it with the turn
It never was in the ACS but prior to the PTS it was an optional maneuver (30+ years ago). Now they assume the coordination in the pattern and maneuvers will be sufficient to demonstrate this but I’ve always had students do it to learn what Adverse Yaw is.
That’s great! A 87 year old pilot showed me them first but other young guys I’ve seen doing them. It’s just a good simple maneuver that makes sense to practice.
I have heard of this, but there’s also a Dutch Roll that is an instability in transport category aircraft, which is why I did not mention the reference.
