While u r using the filmic pro u may reduce the volume of ur mobile. Therefore u can avoid hearing ur own voice through AirPods. Once recording is completed u can increase the volume and watch the video with clear voice. This is tested.
If there was a way to turn off the "feedback" to your ear, this opens the Bluetooth bandwidth considerably and the airpods would automatically up the quality of the mic. I feel that the app you were using failed to think this through...
Thank you very, very much! I was making a video presentation and my iPhone's normal video recording was beyond terrible. I could barely hear myself. But I fixed that and ended up with great results. Also I love the AirPods too! People think it's just a trendy thing to get them and wear them all the time but they don't realize how actually useful these headphones are!

You can stop hearing yourself by setting audio levels down or cut off "monitor" in Filmic Pro. BUT why not having a small wireless Mic like a Rode Wireless Go? Yes it have to be cabled to the iPhone, but its so small, that it don't bugs the function of the osmo.
Put tape over the input spots, I used plain old scotch tape, on the air pod. It really helps dampen the sound coming into your ear when using Filmmic Pro. I wished someone would invent a fake warm ear with a clip to stick the airpod into so that it could be used as a lapel mic instead.
I had high hopes for the AirPods Pro for exactly this reason. Been looking for a mic solution since over 5 years to no avail. As things look right now, all bluetooth earbuds have "can like", "very limited bandwidth like" sound, not useable for video production. Such a shame. Looks like we still tied to wired lav mics or 3000+ usd boom mics.
Give airpods pro II a try. I recorded a video a couple days ago, and the audio is perfect. I don't like the look of the Airpod in my ear because I was making a sales video, so I am now looking for a good lav mic. Another idea I haven't tried yet is to clip the airpod onto my shirt.
I was curious about the AirPods. I see 2 issues. 1. They look goofy sticking out of ones ear/s. 2. Sound isn't that great. You've found the best solution. That is, recording audio off camera. iPhone works fine. Rode SmartLav+ is a good mic. Too many folks seem to be bothered with syncing in post. I don't know what the big deal is. I use a Zoom H1 instead of iPhone, but the principle is the same. Works like a charm...no need for complicated rigs and adapters.
It dose work if one of them is broken first u wanna put the air pods charger on the air pods box and u wanna connect it and then u wanna put the broken air pod in the box and close the box and open it and then ur friend wears it and it works

I have 2 big points that I want to mention because I do not know if the problem is in all AirPods Pro but in noise reduction modes or the other mode that I have forgot the name there is little noise on the back it's not really good.. and the second point is for the mic .. in my videos the sound came from the mic of the iPhone and not from the mic of airpods pro ..

You tap on your subjects face and it will pretty much stay locked on. I went with the OSMO 2 because it was the second version of the OSMO. Typically second drafts have more of the issues worked out than the first- if that makes sense. In my reading, I seems that there is some limit on the audio quality right now for this kind of purpose, but I firmly believe the day is coming when AirPods will be capable of great (stereo even) sound for interviews.
It’s because , your using your phone microphone & not the AirPods microphone .. try tapping your phone close too the phone microphone you will notice those taps are really loud because obviously your using the phone microphone, if you take a video whiles tapping your AirPods with your nails or an object , you won’t hear those sounds ... I have the same issue .. when I make a call with my AirPods My phone microphone is what picking up my voice & not the AirPods microphone.
Nice, don't want to link to my own videos. But there are lots of tricks you can do with your iphone since phones are so powerful. You can for example run something like the rode mic app in the background and let it act as a pre-amp for say your sony a7r3 while its also being a video monitor. I have about 5 or 6 video with tricks you can do this way one if also use the iphone and its airpods as incoming mics and clean up the signal before you pass it into your camera to join with your video track.

This is all quite helpful. Do you, or anyone from you audience have a strong preference between FilmicPro and MoviePro when using one of the newest iPhones and a Zhiyun mount? Are these still the two top apps for this? I do have some older iPhones with storage available so this does seem like an option until we get the golden ticket of complete integration of AirPods, phone, external apps, and Zhiyun or Osmo. I am open to thoughts. FilmICPro is $10 more than MoviePro and am curious if there are strong selling points to make the price a valuable investment. Thanks!
Well, if you'll look...there is only one microphone. So that makes sense. It'd be cool if they were stereo. Can't you turn the audio down while you're recording? Then you wouldn't hear yourself. I guess I don't understand what the Osmo has to do with it. Is it the app that doesn't record the audio? Can you bring up a recording app at the same time to give you recorded audio on the same phone?
There's a problem with recording a video from iphone: the phone wouldn't use the mic that's plugged in or my airpods, it would still use the mic from the phone itself. How do I fix this?
I have a new challenge! I will be interviewed for a show via Skype. I need to use my iPad Pro. The iPads sound is not that great and I can not be tethered to the mic. TIP : I use ear buds with foam over the mic, usually tucked into my shirt or hanging near by, while I video outdoors and it works great.)
Is it possible, when doing a class or something of that nature, to use an external mic with wireless earbuds? That way the class or person can hear you really well and you can hear them too without a wire getting in the way. Or possibly use the ext. mic and listen to the other person through the phone's speaker? I have not been able to find an answer to this question. Thank you to anyone that can tell me.
Hello Michael, I have recently purchased my airpods, but there is an issue, I can't keep recording video and using airpods microphone at the same time. The camera video keeps using internal microphone from iphone. Do you happen to know how to use airpods microhone for video recording? I have an iphone 11.
Have you switched to an over the ear option? Every time I see an earbud I think, bent cigarette butts hanging from their ears. In ear mics are not that expensive and look much better.
Hi Michael, great video! I just found your channel. What microphone are you using at the beginning and most of the way through? And do you have a video on clean up in post? I am currently using a $40 purple panda lav mic, and it sounds a bit muffled. But I don’t know anything about cleanup in post to add a bit of trouble that will also avoid adding room noise or hiss. Thoughts?
