A Visit to the Past of my favorite years of learning about airlines
and airports!
When I was a young boy living in Taipei Taiwan, I was really getting into civil aviation. The airport, Sungshan International was right down town in the heart of the city (still is today) so it was very easy to spot airliners landing. So since those days are long ago, I am re-creating all of the airports from where all the airlines that served Taipei were based! Because that was my dream when I saw...
Japan Air Lines came from Tokyo - Haneda
Korean Air Lines came from Seoul Kimpo
Cathay Pacific came from Hong Kong
Air Vietnam came from Saigon
Philippine Airlines came from Manila
Thai International came from Bangkok
MSA - Malaysia Singapore Airlines
came from Singapore
and Kuala Lumpur
and Garuda came from Jakarta
So making this video as how I imagine it looked 50 years
ago makes my dream come true!

Thanks a million...great to see all those old footages of MSA, MAS,...warm, wonderful memories - standing at the visitor’s gallery & looking thru the coin operated binoculars! That was simple air travel...back then.

My God... Thank you so much for uploading this. Not even us Malaysians have this much footage of the beloved old airport! I am an aviation enthusiast as well as working in the aviation industry! Btw... Those JT8D on the 737-100 sounded so good! Glad to know you! God bless you my friend

You are very welcome! And you are the type of aviation enthusiast in/from Malaysia I hoped to reach. I only remembered seeing MAS fly in/out of Taipei with their 707s (MSA before that) and was smitten by their livery..so a video of my memories was certainly in order! Paya Lebar will be coming early 2021. You did see my Malaysia Hibisbis 747 (2 of them here), right?

My last international flight from kl subang airport was way back in 1996. That flight was to LHR onboard MAS 747-400. This footage really bring back memories of the old kl airport.

Never got to fly international out of the old airport. By the time I could afford it, KLIA had been operational for 14 years.

That's true for many of us. I could have gone when I was in the Philippines but if I recall, the Airline Guides back then showed little traffic in/out KUL (compared to Hong Kong and Tokyo). But I thought the MAS scheme on 707s was the coolest thing. I imagined a ramp full of MAS 707s but in truth, that was not the case..their fleet was not really that big.

Minute 7:18 till 7:34 , scene from movie "Paper Tiger". "Paper Tiger" movie shot in Malaysia (mostly KL and Melaka).

I worked in SZB in 2010 for MAS. Driving on the apron was so cool, going to different hangars.

aviation for Kuala Lumpur, Malaya started from sungei besi airport but was catered for military purpose initially

Exactly! It was a tough job and Singapore Paya Lebar (which should be easier) is proving harder to pull off! Getting a MAS 707 was the toughest to get.

@@AdamIrman2810Studios ueah I saw the list but I much prefer the older MSA type jets all the new Air Asia stuff is plentiful, its the rare things that command more attention.

Starboard76 yeah and also I’m trying to recreate the whole airport scenery with combining the current satellite view of the airport with the original imagery of the Terminal 1 (the terminal with atc tower in this video, now demolished) from 1998 Plus the sceneries of Subang are shown to be poorly recreated in XPLANE10/11 and Infinite Flight

Excellent video. Ive been looking around for videos of old Subang International Airport for a while now. Great to see the DC8 of TG and JL. Also SQ's B727, MSA & Biman's B707 and BA's qieen of the skies, the B747-200. Please post more such videos.

Looking at what the video shows vs Google Earth today, it was apparently much much smaller as far as ramp space is concerned. But some who have commented here and who flew in/out of the original facility are the best sources to verify that position.

It was a hostage crisis involving several countries' embassy officials. The plane was a charter by the Japanese government which flew the Japanese Red Army hijackers, and several JRA prisoners they asked the Japanese government to release, to Libya, together with two Malaysian officials who were exchanged with the hostages to ensure safety. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_AIA_building_hostage_crisis
