Spending more time at airport security due to a fashion blunder can get your trip off to a very stressful start. In this video I share my travel tips on what clothes and fashion styles you want to avoid wearing on your travel day when you are flying to your dream destination. Although the TSA scanners have gotten much better, there are many things you will want to avoid choosing so you don't end up going through an extra screening. I hope you enjoy!

I thought you might mention this, it here’s my own experience of being stripped searched, down to the skin. I was going thru security for an international flight, I had already gone thru the first leg, but this would be the international flight. I had a medical card stating I wore “gel” inserts “falsies” in my bra after bilateral mastectomy, before reconstruction. Medical cards meant nothing. The man who demanded the search was extremely rude and borderline angry, a lady took me in a room, and thank goodness she was embarrassed because of the way the man had treated me.

Just happened to me 3 days ago.I was at Sacramento airport going to L.A.I was told to removed my hooded sweatshirt luckily i had a shirt on inside.

I had to laugh at your comment on sequined tops. I wore one to fly about 8 years ago and lit up like a Christmas tree!!! The TSA agent was very nice, but I did receive additional sanding. Lesson learned!! :) I was also 'wanded' when wearing a dress, so I don't do that anymore either. I've been watching your videos and hopefully I'm prepared for our flight next Saturday. Thank you!

For belts, I love a brand called ARCADE! The ones I have don’t contain any metals, AND they are stretchy.

I SO wanted to wear my new jeans with rhinestones to Las Vegas last week, but saved them for when I got there! I have set off their screening machine a few times with 'bling' on the tops. LOL, not a biggie!

I get pulled aside and wanded frequently. I usually wear leggings and a tunic. I take off any bulky outer wear. There is no metal on me except small earrings. They are always very nice to me.

I love when Skechers came up with Slip Ons - love them, I would just drop on the floor, slip my feet in and no problem. They have a shoe horn imbedded in the back, making it easy peezy.

My husband always wears a belt. He uses a stretchy one with a plastic buckle when he flies.

I put a belt on my son's pants when they are dressed up. I think it makes them look even nicer. Your husband's belt choice for flying sounds good.

@@carollewis3912 I tried an all plastic belt, once, and was directed to remove it. I now fly in black golf pants, that are made to go with or without a belt.

I haven’t been through airport security since July 1, 2013 when I returned from India 🇮🇳 at age 29. That is because I haven’t traveled out of the country in about 10.5 years and never out of the state since September 2, 2019. I would love to travel 🧳 again and see the country and the world 🌎

I wore a strapless top with metal paillettes across the bust and a blazer, mistake! They did ask if I wanted a private room and I'm like nah it's fine meanwhile my poor husband didn't know what happened or what I was wearing and just saw me naked from the shoulders up in a clear box and freaked out 😅 the tsa agent was super nice and i explained we were going right to a holiday party and she was like girl, wear it to the parties or to the clubs but don't wear this through TSA again 😂

I'm 66, and while a pat-down actually sounds like a lot of fun, it's not so enjoyable for me when it's another woman, (LOL) so I guess I'll follow your tips and avoid it.

a thing to keep in mind: the runways at airports are for airplanes, not supermodels. dress to draw the least amount of attention, not the most.

I felt like I did everything right. Decided to do sweats that were not really baggy at all. Wore the same pair coming and going only to be required to have a pat down in Denver Airport (only this airport) because something in my (F) crotch area set off the machine.

I Always wear a belt. I like to have my pants stay Up. Ans so far I've never had to take my belt off . . . I just unsnap the buckle if needed . . . and hasn't always been needed. 😂

I recently had an MRI of my head (all good now) and the technician handed me a make up remover wipe. Make up with shine/glitter effects the big magnet in the MRI machine. I wonder if this is true of airport screening machines …

I had put my jewelry into my bag. It went thru the scanner and I was pulled aside for a bag check. Perhaps it would be best to lay it in the bin so they can see it immediately.

My husband refuses to take his belt off in TSA, so he has to go through the wand. If he takes his belt off his pants will fall down

Just letting people know, you can do everything 'right' and still get randomly selected for a pat down (its computer selected, not random agent selected at the tsa check point). I seem to be a magnet for them and I fly back and forth across the country twice a month. I mean, whatever. I dont care any more. Its not fun for them, its not fun for us, just let them do their job and carry on with your travels. And just as super baggy clothing can make them send you to secondary screening, so can super tight clothing, ladies (I'm looking at your, and my, leggings). I *try* to remember not to wear leggings for that reason, as I almost always get pulled aside when I do. And I'm not a large person, I wear a size 6. So, just be patient, and understanding and cooperative, and let them do their job. They will ask you if you want a private area and an agent of the same gender (with another agent there with both of you) will do the screening. I'm just the 'no do it right here and get it over with' kind of person lol

Hi! I think I've asked questions previously. I had Achilles heel spurs removed from my right heel in 2011. So, I have two surgical steel soft tissue anchors in my right heel holding my right Achilles to my heel. I'm wondering how much of a delay this would cause me. And how to address it with TSA. Yes. I have direct messaged them both on twitter and facebook messenger. I also wear orthotics (ordered and made by my podiatrist) inside my shoes (under the removable insoles). How do I let TSA know about them?

assuming it's' not too late, my wife and I just tell the screener she has surgical implants. give an extra 15-20 minutes because there will probably always be a patdown.

I’m 5’7 size 4/6 and went through TSA wearing a form fitting white cotton shirt and a pair of straight/skinny dress pants without pockets. I’m trim and there was literally no fabric bulging anywhere. Whelp. I went through the arms up TSA body scanner. I walk through. And my fing jj had a yellow box. Not the waist. Not the hip. Just the fing jj. Honestly I threw a bit of a fit. It was absurd and TSA knew it. No shade but morbidly obese people with huge bulky sweatshirts and sweats were flying through. But I got pulled? I was loud. Proud. And stuck my ass way out to draw attention to the entire sitch. I unbuttoned my pants and offered to just take them off. lol. I had bikini underwear on (and after 2 kids I really don’t care who sees me naked). But I don’t like being touched by random women. I should have said I ID’d as a man to make a male do the pat down. The TSA Sup eventually came over and let’s just say his eyes said it all. He knew it was absurd. After 5 mins I was through but clearly I’m still a bit pissed off. SMH. At some point the terrorists have won.
