@@Billigoat21I also noticed that some of the percussion stops when you’re not moving, and resumes when you start moving. This goes for all levels, afaik
I absolutely love that the SMB1 airship theme from Mario Maker has been almost seamlessly brought into the main series, as if it was always here and a reoccurring theme.
@@KOOPAS1234 It’s not hard to tell. I mean, he was the main composer for the first Super Mario Maker on Wii U, which is where this came from. He wrote all the new level theme music for the old legacy games in both Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2, and he was sound director for this game (he also confirmed he wrote some of this game’s music). The guitar samples used here also sound like the same ones he used for his “King Bowser” arrangement in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
@@shrobbyy NO! BOTH ARE GOOD!! SMB3 Theme has a very intimidating, scary feel at times. And the Odyssey one sounds a bit more bowser-ish but VERY MUCH intimidating. Both are *EQUALLY* good.
@@elmomonster6043 Yes; the game that ultimately inspired me to obtain my computer science degree. I absolutely love that game so much. This remix is so special to me!!!
@cameronsecore643 almost every bowser related theme has music like that or something similar since sm64 tho except sunshine, galaxy and the 3 first nsmb games
@@HelperSmith What do you mean? Why do we need a trade off? There’s no reason we can’t get creative worlds and a new story, AND creative boss battles and challenging gameplay.
I love wearing Jet Run on airship levels and totally never falling off because of the "go fast" rather than "do it right" attitude of the Jet Run badge. Tips to "do it right" even with Jet Run: 1. If you always jump right before hitting the ground (you can buffer jumps!) you can stay still. 2. Ground Pounds are a great way to stop, and you can even cancel a Ground Pound by pressing UP. 3. If you are ducking, you move much slower, great if you want to keep relatively still without jumping!
"the dark airships of the dark matter empire from kirby univers is here for attack the mushroom Kingdom and koppa Kingdom.. stop them before this will be too late!"
When I heard this for the first time while on an Airship I was like “Damn this is good” The more it kept playing the more Ioved it. Now it’s one of my favorite level themes in Mario.
My jaw dropped when the guitar came in, but it practically dislocated when the Mario Maker Airship theme started. This might be one of the best songs in the game, hands down.
I love how when nintendo was making SMM they were like "oh shit we gotta come up with an airship theme for SMB1" and then accidentally cooked so hard they started using it as the new airship themes for their later games
I don't know who was the person who made the decision to make everything Bowser related metal AF. but that was a good decision. Give that person a raise!!
It must have been a pretty early decision. The NES SMB didn't have boss themes, and I'm still not sure what genre the SMB3 one is, but as early as SMW's final boss, you got guitars and bass going. That's not even speaking of Yoshi's Island's final boss theme.
Bowser’s always had that, though. Ever heard the Super Mario World final boss theme? Even Mario 3’s “King Bowser” theme was meant to have this sound, as Koji Kondo himself rearranged it in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in that style. Super Mario 64’s regular Bowser battle themes are totally meant to be in this style, too. It was Sunshine and Galaxy that deviated from this. Even Super Mario 3D World’s Bowser battle theme has tons of electric guitar.
I expected the usual Airship theme remix, but I got something way better! I always really liked the theme they gave SMB1 styled Airship courses in Mario Maker, so I appreciate any love it gets elsewhere! I have no idea what instrument is being used for whenever you have the Elephant power up, but I absolutely love the touch and this is probably my favorite theme for it!
I like to think that Koji Kondo put his all into coming up with a new SMB1 airship theme not based on the SMB3 one, and after finishing he was like "dang I like this one way better" and is just having a blast with it.
It's so cool to see a theme from a spin-off title get remixed in a mainline Mario game! I hope they use more of Mario Maker's original tracks in the future
That’s because all of the original new music that was retroactively composed for Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3, and World were all written by Koji Kondo in both Super Mario Maker 1 and 2. So they’re more or less the “official” versions of music for course themes that never actually existed back in the 80s and 90s. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually start adding in the SMB1 Ghost, Desert, Forest, and Snow themes at some point as well.
It really does feel like the SMB1 airship theme from Mario maker has been there from the very beginning! i love seeing them use it in non mario maker stuff :)
Yeah, seems like it might be across a river, now we know that the Mushroom kingdom borders the Bean-bean kingdom and the Flower kingdom (Edit: most likely also borders the Koopa kingdom, ruled by Bowser, if it's even a real kingdom), idk about Sarasaland tho, but Sarasaland has multiple kingdoms so it's more so an Empire ruled by Daisy
I really love the fact that they went all out with this remix of the SMM1 airship theme. They did not have to do this, since they have done it in Odyssey, but they still did it. I really love this remix, thank you Nintendo.
i fucking love how much they went off with the airships, everything about them contrasts so beautifully with the rest of the game. all of the levels in this game are painted in vivid colors and set to songs that, while obviously varied enough to fit each and every situation, still set the tone of this lighthearted and whimsical adventure. *then* you get to the first airship level. the skies turn grey and stormy. the ship itself is metallic and almost entirely colored black. the only splashes of color that break up the gloomy mood are the blaring green lights and flames of the ship, and the explosions from the firework-like enemies produced en masse. the score suddenly gets more intense, throwing out any preconceptions from previous songs in the game and presenting the player with a heavier, almost militant tune that uses instruments you'd hear in a rock or metal song. the whole stage *feels* harsher and colder than the rest of the world you've explored so far, and considering the environmental storytelling at play in these levels it fits perfectly. these aren't just normal airships, these are floating factories that produce all of the weaponry bowser uses in his conquest, and you're infiltrating them in order to make them self-destruct from the inside. the best part of all of this, though, is that it's all executed in a way where the game manages to toe the line that is doing a tone shift without feeling totally incongruous towards what came before it. things like the aforementioned splashes of color help a lot with that maybe that's kind of an overdramatic paragraph but you cant deny these levels fucking rock
The amount of dopamine my brain released upon realizing this was a remix of the smb1 mario maker airship theme was enough to ship over to africa and solve world hunger for a few seconds
I love how they're using the Mario maker SMB1 airship theme more. That, mixed with the metal/ rock? Not only is it fitting for Bowser, but it just sounds so GOOD Put rock/ metal music for Bowser themes/ levels and its a master piece-
It has such a distinct 1980s rock sound to it. I love that. Especially fitting given that this is a remix of a song we're supposed to pretend Koji Kondo wrote in 1985.
Put the Ninji Jump Party Badge on & it's a killa soundtrack with the remix. Loving all of the remixes along with the original soundtracks to this game 😍
