This is amazing! I never thought I'd see this in MSFS, but here we are. Even with a drogue or boom that actually attaches to the aircraft. This and the Miltech Supercarrier added so much more to the military aircraft experience in Flight Simulator. Thank you both!
are you not having any issues with tanker airspeed? this mod is incredibly frustrating to use, fly at 215kts and tanker set to 200kts and it drifts away from me
Thank you for this! I think a very simple mode in which the tanker is always attached to the jet, in like a static way would also be nice for the visuals. Perhaps with a little movement programmed inbetween the two if possible, but that it always stays attached. This would open up more possibilities for videographers.
This is insanely cool! One prob I've noticed is that the F-18 seems to have a bit of trouble hooking up to the tanker, and requires me to fly into to the cable. Haven't tried the other's yet but even with the glitch, this is insanely cool!
I'm trying to find the video... But there is an F-18 pilot on tiktok and i believe RU-vid that shows and talks through every step of RL refueling and if you follow his instruction by applying them to msfs it makes refueling so much easier and fun. I'll try and find the video and reply here
I think the next level for this would be when the tanker spawns in that it might not be right in front of you, or even the same altitude, it might be 20 miles away and 20000 feet below or above you and flying a totally different heading. This would also require the use of some navigation equipment (preferably something smaller than the airshow assistant window and that arrow) Maybe a tacan frequency to tune to so it ties in with the airplanes themselves? It is quite fun to do this successfully though!
@@TouchingCloud there you go! Select the area(s) I will need a tanker, and they orbit there until I get there, and use TACAN or VOR or ADF to find them. Maybe have some common ones that I can “sync to live time” with my friends so that they see one too in the same place and we can refuel together over popular airbases like Nellis, or whatever. Hope you guys can figure this stuff out. I like it as is, but this would take it up 3 levels.
The process is very complicated from what I saw in the clip. I hope to add an automatic fuel refueling option, not a manual one, because it is really difficult to balance the speed.
It is complicated indeed. The most challenging part is keep airspeed synced, but in Rookie mode you will have assistant for that - in the first part of the video, after contact, I do not change throttle or spoilers position, it happen automatically. You only need to keep aircraft behind the refueling pod.
This is really nice, because it gives you something to do and to practice with military birds in MSFS. If something like that is possible, maybe it would also be possible to spawn in aircraft for practicing formation flying? So a plane in front of you, that does some altitude and / or speed and direction changes and that you can joyn and try to stay in formation? Would be another thing the military does.
I cant get it to work on xbox series X. It says to remove quick resume which i did and restarted the game but still doesnt work. Do you need to purchase a specific air tanker for it to work as well?
Currently there is a bug which appear on newerly added liveries - try to change livery to default one for this aircraft, or some stock aircraft - like f/a-18. This issue will be fixed in next update.
Hi all, when i set the speed of the tanker, then tune my autothrottle to that speed, the tanker is always moving faster than me and i can never get in line with the boom. Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong
@@justinwesolek8749 it is more complicated than you may think. Fly along the tanker with 100m offset and your IAS will accurately match airspeed slider. Then move behind the tanker and IAS jumps 10-20kts. Which means tanker engines and aircraft wash affects airspeed values by core simulation.
This is awsome thanks for bringing AAR to msfs!!! I already purchased it in the marketplace. Will you implement an option to have not just tankers but any plane flying straight or following way points so we can practice formation flight?

you are right, here it is Aircraft compatibility table: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qRnXrvNaPtnUJD7HON4hR1jJBUM4tECMb6BktFr3hUw/ these haven't configured yet, but you can make any aircraft capable for AAR by simple actions (like I have made with Cabri at the end of the video)
@@ESAbolichin more like "something wrong or missing", but only critical issue is with F-5 as it does not work with AAR at all. Main issue of DC planes is self refuelling when probe/bay engaged, even if it suppressed by Airshow during approach it still affects fuel flow on contact (it much faster than in RL and not affected by difficulty settings). Some planes has no probe, so default on e (from f/a-18) is used. Soon probe color selection will be added so wouldn't be a big deal.
Thank you so much for your effort on this. Fly on the xbox only the Eurofighter from CJ Simulation and I tried it several times but unfortunately without success. (Rookie Mode) Could you please tell me if this is also workable for the Eurofighter? Thank you Markus
What exactly happen? Are you able to catch the basket? If contact happen but not all tanks get full then it is known issue, will be fixed with this Thursday update.
