I used to play airsoft for the corps. Still play just a little bit. The only thing that transitioned over was the magazine reloading. That was it lol 😆
So as an airsofter who joined the military...the skills i developed in Airsoft that carried over to military were: 1. Teamwork 2. Communication 3. improvising 4. Camping 5. Physical activity/Cardio 6. learn to shoot ambidextrously from airsoft and it did carry over 7. Leadership skills (not something most airporters experience but i was also in my 20s/30s before i joined)
Being an airsofter going into the army, I can say the only thing that carried into the military was my knowledge on tactical gear, I showed my whole platoon how to use MOLLE efficiently on their gear
With the helicopter clip - Ive played there and have been on that helo, and they make it abundantly clear that if you even point your gun at the Helo you will promptly be kicked out
I think airsoft translates a lot with weapons handling it’s like dry firing but more fun lol. As a civilian though I do think it helped me learn about using cover too
Imagine an airsofter is in real war then he forgets he’s in real war then he shoots an enemy then he says “ Yo call your hits dude!” Then you’re next to him then he turns his gun to full auto then you just watch him as he keeps shooting the obviously already dead enemy to the point that his torso is pretty much gone
Going to a gun range after having been into airsoft for years has helped a lot. Not military, but the RO didn't think I was a complete idiot so... There's that.

I don't know about smoke grenades, but the flashbang fuses can burn through tactical gloves. I had retreated back to prime one as I was moving into position to throw I didn't realise I had accidentally lit the flashbang with the striker while moving. It managed to burn through my glove and burn my thumb before I realised lol
My brother said his airsoft helped with his cqb only really and being comfortable with handling a platform only, otherwise who'll new rodeo. Trick here is that he learned 0 cqb in army because he's a cav scout and only does field work lmao
as for the dude who wanted to say dont shoot my girl, god damn. my wife got into airsoft and i specifically told her "you are gonna get shot up.. its the game" and weve even had our own 1v1s
I am an airsofter and I signed up for the Navy. Airsoft won't be able to help me work on the CWIS but I could see how airsoft could help with clearing rooms if you play airsoft like that. If you just run around holding full auto then no I don't see that translating into the military.
