Great video Brian such a classic trailer but I agree with you it doesn’t have a diesel motor and it doesn’t propel it self! Thomyt

This is such a classic beauty. Saw it over on Brian’s channel first - wishing I was ready to purchase.

Very nice, but too cramped for me. Seems to be more of a status symbol than a recreational vehicle. I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping an expensive trailer like that in the middle of nowhere. But then, you have to lock your pickup tailgate here in Texas, too. Thank you for the tour.

It's called an "International" because it's supposed to also be a boat, sort of like my $400 1975 Buick Electra--the perfect tow vehicle for it. With an amphibious motorhome, though, one could probably take a large family RV'ing with it in Ireland after a transatlantic crossing. If it started to sink, it can just be rolled over on its rounded back, like taking a tortoise water skiing. 😁

I wish you would have opened up the storage above the table as well as the "pantry" in the kitchen. I've heard the storage is a definite negative about Airstreams.

Ya okay I agree they are neat to look at like a museum piece and then walk away. Break it down, your paying 100G for an outer skin shell for a new one, because there is nothing special or different in the interiour of these RV’s that other RV’s don’t have. Same toilets, showers, fridges, cupboards that other rv’s have. Airstreams are so simple and really basic, there is nothing innovative about their functionality. They should be 1/3 their price realistically for what your getting. I looked at them but just couldn’t justify their cost. Just think about it, the ‘neat’ effect would wear off eventually. Cheers 🍻

What does one of these cost new? Seems a lot for a 23ft no slide camper.

Beds are too small. Shower is small for anyone over 5 ft 9 inch. $59k is pretty expensive. I'd rather go for something more main stream and less expensive. I do know they tow nicely but that doesn't weigh out the other concerns I'd have. For me this is the Apple of trailers.

The toilet might not be a 4P (Porcelain, Prime Pooping Position) seems a little narrow for the shoulder width but since it is an Airstream it is poo-able position in style.

What I remember as a kid is that they were poor protection against the cold. Even with their best insulation package, all that aluminum hanging out there transmitted radiation cooling in the mountains or the desert right into your bedframe and cabinets that were attached to the outside wall. My family's switch to a Holiday Rambler made late fall camp-outs in the Rockies less of a contest of wills with the atmosphere. The Airstream's exterior was tougher, though. It dented instead of breaking or cracking, but it was also $$$$ to fix the dents, so there's that...

There is good and bad about all RV's, but the thing about Airtreams is the awesome build quality....just look at the used Airstream market - when you are ready to sell an Airstream, the depreciation off the original purhase price is significantly less than other RV brands. This is reflective of their quality control. The aluminum construction means that with just a little bit of care and maintenance, your Airstream is going to look nearly new 20 years from now. I don't know that I would plunk down 100K or more on one myself if I were just going to use it a few times a year, but for full-timers or long-term travelers, hard to go wrong with an Airstream.

@@davervatx8814 I'm not sure the resale value is so much about their quality as it is about their social status. They are unique and they were hyped for their design and aluminum construction. There are classic teardrop trailers from back in the day which, if maintained well, fetch far beyond their purchase price now for the same reason.
@davervatx8814
@davervatx8814 3 года назад
@@ReluctantPost I don't think the resale value is as much about social status as it is the recognition by so many that Airstream made and continues to make reliable, long-lasting trailers. Yes, there were other aluminum trailers made back in the day, but what RV manufacturer currently makes a towable trailer entirely out of aluminum? I can't think of any besides Airstream. Trailers tend to get abused, and the poorly-made ones (which are most) fall apart....sometimes as you're driving down the road towing it behind you. You get what you pay for.
@ReluctantPost
@ReluctantPost 3 года назад
@@davervatx8814 The RV industry has never been a "get what you pay for" proposition, unfortunately, and Airstream is priced beyond all reason, even in their tiny non-aluminum trailer. Actual engineers in the industry are almost non-existent except for frame and axle weight-bearing / road-safety metrics which have to be met legally. Other than those being compelled, the whole industry is pretty much a disaster from an engineering perspective. Abused Airstreams are even more wildly expensive to fix than those designs that are less inclined to dent. Cargo trailers built out of the same thickness aluminum are a tiny fraction of the cost because they don't have the same aesthetic--and it is aesthetics, along with the "camping with the family" motif--which are the primary goods sold by the RV industry, not quality vehicles. Here is an attorney specializing in vehicles in Michigan and his experience with the realities of the RV industry and the nature of the manufacturers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IP_u2JR51_Y.html

Airstream quality becomes a joke after they were bought by Thor. Really wish they are still an independent manufacturer.

Due your research before making such a stupid comment!! Airstream was the first company Thor purchased after the two guys who owned the Hi/Lo decided to start Thor. Just another You Tube key board warrior that doesn’t know shit before typing his comments.

Camping in a "tin can", very "industrial" in appearance ... Would much rather have a roomier travel trailer of another brand with much more in creature comforts for a lot less ca$h ... Airstream is an icon, and for some, the value is there ... I am not one of them ... Slainte' ! Cheers !
