I am glad that Starboard is going for a mid/low PSI design. Their range goes from 4PSI to 7PSI for the smallest size. Other brands are going as high as 11PSI max. Wings are self exploding when left in the sun for a short break :) Not to mention that inflating to more than 8Psi is a PITA. Nice review!
For Sure Ma Ca, Especially if your pump gauge is not accurate or being used incorrectly. For wings, they can be overpumped easily because they have a small frame. I don't trust the pump gauges, I've seen them fail or misread way too many times. Pump til the frame feels stiff when you squeeze it and makes a nice resounding bongo sound when you flick it. If you see the seams getting stressed, it's too far. I usually give it a few beach pumps just to test that it is stiff enough as well. -Tucker
hey there.. what do you think about this wing compared to the Duotone Unit. Looking to buy my first wing for WingFoiling and deciding between these two... Thanks!
Hi Tucker, thanks for the review. How does it compare to the Cabrinha Crosswing 2 ? I love the double-centre-strut of the Cabrinha that gives it more rigidity, but I love the ease of use of the Airush products (lik their Ultra kites). Also, the wingtip being sweptback (or short so it doesn't hit the water easily)...is this a factor only for freestylers? Or even beginner wing-foilers? That's another factor which will help me decide between the 2 wings.
Both have excellent grunt. I'd say the Crosswing makes a bit more apparent wind but the Freewing is excellent with that compact design which is so easy to handle. -Tucker
Great review. Can you isolate the boom bladder from the leading edge bladder? On my current wing, I keep the central bladder softly inflated for transport and storage. Thanks.
More low end Grunt, has y handles, has harness line attachments. Slightly heavier but balances just as well. I'd say the Freewing is a little less finicky with regard to sail angle. So, more user friendly for new sailers. -Tucker
Do you have air outlet in the center strut on your 5m wing? On their site and user manual they state it starts with the 5m wing but on mine there isn't..
